God I hope they win, it will piss so many people off lol.

Not quite. Remember what is reported to have happened -- at halftime NE's primary balls were confiscated and the backup balls brought in (after they were tested again at halftime).

So I take what King wrote to mean that the balls in play at the final gun were tested and were all up to spec. In other words:
  • Colts balls ok at beginning of game and at end of game.
  • NE primary balls ok at beginning of game, low at halftime (and never used after that).
  • NE backup balls ok at beginning of game, ok at halftime, ok at end of game.
So, unfortunately, that would rule out weather. Each set of NE balls were out in the cold and rain for half the game, but the primary set deflated while the secondary set did not :(.
So pats were deflating footballs during the game.. How stupid would that be of them to mess with the balls with a pin and a gauge in between plays ?

He is "rkarp" on the boston.com forum.

I was initially very skeptical, but he has been right at every turn of this saga.
I dont know. I hope he is right but hard to go by some vegas shark guy right now.

Peter King said:
The 12 footballs used in the first half for New England, and the 12 footballs used by the Colts, all left the officials’ locker room before the game at the prescribed pressure level of between 12.5 pounds per square inch and 13.5 PSI.

All 24 footballs were checked by pressure gauge at halftime. I am told either 11 or 12 of New England’s footballs (ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported it was 11, and I hear it could have been all 12) had at least two pounds less pressure in them. All 12 Indianapolis footballs were at the prescribed level.

All 24 footballs were checked by pressure gauge after the game. All 24 checked at the correct pressure—which is one of the last pieces of the puzzle the league needed to determine with certainty that something fishy happened with the Patriots footballs, because the Colts’ balls stayed correctly inflated for the nearly four hours. There had been reports quoting atmospheric experts that cold weather could deflate footballs. But if the Patriots’ balls were all low, and the Colts’ balls all legit, that quashes that theorem.

In none of that does he mention another set of 12 Patriot footballs (their backups) being introduced into the mix.

And nowhere does he even hint that that the primary set of 12 Patriot footballs were removed from play (and never used after that).

He uses the exact same phrase for the collection of footballs at half-time as he does for the end of the game: "All 24 footballs"

If 12 had been removed and a new 12 introduced, he be talking about the new set differently. There would be 36 footballs, not 24.

Albert Breer is really showing himself up. I never knew he had such hatred in him. He really worked here?

The only logical explanation that I can come up with for Breer is that his relationship with BB was sexual in nature and that they had a bad break up.

Even D'Qwell Jackson said he felt no difference in the ball when he intercepted it, just a media circus money printing machine $$$$$$$ nothing else to see here folks.

Albert Breer now desperately trying for another opening against the Pats:

@albertBreer
Also, people need to stop mocking the story/investigation saying it's about "deflated football." It's not. It's about a pattern of behavior.
WHY is this crap considered acceptable from the media? You aren't here to push your agenda, pal, you're here to report the facts.

We need to clean house in the media. ALL OF IT.

Jim Irsay is going to learn a valuable lesson.

I don't know if this has been posted or not, but the fourth paragraph in this article (http://espn.go.com/boston/story/_/i...-had-inflated-footballs-afc-championship-game) is central to this entire debate.

"League sources have confirmed that the footballs were properly inspected and approved by referee Walt Anderson 2 hours and 15 minutes before kickoff, before they were returned to each team."
Of course, this is still coming from Mort's report from "league sources" so there is reason to be skeptical.

I believe Brady and Belichick's press conferences yesterday, but the best chance for public opinion and the NFL to view us differently than in the damning light they are viewing us now is for someone to come out and clearly state that the footballs were NOT measured before the game.

A proper resolution of this entire overblown debacle would involve:

1) Brady and Belichick addressing the media with their statements (done and done)

2) D'Qwell Jackson confirming or refuting the claim that he was the start of this (done)

3) The truth about who was the first to become "suspicious" of the Patriots footballs.

4) Walt Anderson confirming whether or not a pressure gauge was used to measure the footballs, what their PSI was at pregame, and what their PSI when later checked

5) A statement by the Fckhead Goodell confirming or refuting the sourceless reports that have driven this entire story

6) Brady and Belichick hoisting the Lombardi Trophy over their heads on February 1st for all the douchebags of the sports world to see!

I'm not sure we'll ever get resolution on #3, but #4-6 are all more than reasonable. If details of the measuring and approving of footballs by referees before the game are not made public, then the public has as much reason to believe the NFL is protecting the refs as we have to believe someone actually tampered with the footballs.

And if that is what happens, it will be just one more item on the list of reasons that something very serious needs to be done about how this league is managed.

only thing that will save the teams repuation is for the league to come out and refute King and Morts statements when the announcement is made.

So, when does jury selection begin?

A statement coming tonight would be ideal if the league wants this to go away quietly. Release something tonight about how they reviewed everything and couldn't find any guilt. Do it around 7pm EST and by Monday morning we'll be at the SB coverage.

This week has become a piece of pop culture. It was actually pretty interesting, from a social standpoint.

Brady prepped 24 NE balls for the game because of wet weather. Its customary NFL protocol to do so.

The Colts had 24 balls and NE had 24 balls

rkarp is not with the vegas sharks. You're confusing two different entities.

So driving in this morning I listened to Matty in the Morning. He had Bledsoe on, ostensibly to promote some charity but all they talked about was the deflated footballs and Brady. Bledsoe said he has absolutely no doubt Brady’s telling the truth, knows him well and he’d never lie, blah blah blah.

Anyway, the real reason I’m posting this is Matty’s comment after Bledsoe said he doesn’t honestly think this should be a big deal and doubts anything happened. “But Drew, this is a BIG DEAL. I mean, it was the lead story on all three national networks this morning. EVERYONE is covering it. Something must have happened, amirite?”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the problem with today’s media: putting the cart before the horse, allowing media narrative to drive a story rather than facts. What do we have right now? Unconfirmed reports by Mortenson (and now King) by ‘sources’ who have released partial information that may or may not be true, but ultimately if true still don’t implicate the Patriots—or Belichick or Brady for that matter—in anything. The NFL hasn’t officially said anything.

Huge dog and pony show. It is 100% possible that someone on the Pats sideline did something to the footballs, and per the NFL rulebook that person and the team should be penalized accordingly. But this turning into a BIG DEAL is entirely a media creation.
