i believe our local reporter ron borges asked this?
How can we expect national media to relent if our own media is like this
Q: the balls you picked, you didn't notice 15% of air was out of the ball? That's hard to believe

A: I didn't feel any different, i just assumed it was the same thing. When i get the ball i'm reading coverage, throwing, etc.

Q: professional atheletes can tell, basketball players can tell differences in height of rim. you're asking us to believe you didn't notice?

A: It was a wet cold windy night. I don't think about the ball, i just try and throw it. i don't try and squeeze it and determine it, if that's what the colts want to do, that's what they want to do. I did not feel a difference between the first half and the second half.

He can only say so much until the league responds. In a court of law the prosecution has to present evidence first. This is a akin to making the defense answer to allegations that have not been specifically laid out in a cohesive and understandable matter. Basically the NFL has allowed media hysteria present their case while hiding in the shadows.

Brady and Belichick have stood forth and taken accountability while there accusers have manipulated there stance behind the scenes. What the NFL office has done is unconscionable and inexusable. They have shown neither good faith nor stood by their convictions.

The silent accuser hides behind the curtains while allowing rumors and innuendo to swirl out of control.

Roger Goodell-You are The Emporer and The Emporer has no clothes.
The fact that Robert Kraft backs this clown as commissioner of the NFL is disgraceful.

Seriously, God Bless Shefter. He is actively backing the Patriots in this.

What's great is he doesn't always, so his credibility is far greater as a result.

He is very respected and has great contacts with the league so that is a ray of optimism right there.

Shefter is what Jay Glazer wishes he was.
This is why I feel cautiously optimistic that the league doesn't have anything on us. I find Schefter to be far more credible than Glazer/Mortenson.

Its rough being on top. The Seahawks can only hope they lose the game to us. If they win 2 in a row, well, they are looking at their future.

Exactly, should the Seahawks win, they better get ready. Because they will be coming for them.

Watching that table with Fat Jerome Bettis and Mark Brunell talk after the press conference was the dumbest thing I've seen this week.

They actually said this wasn't a big deal but NOW it is because Brady is denying it. They actually said all Brady had to do was admit and they and everyone would have moved on but NOW it's a big deal because he must be lying.

Are they being this stupid this on purpose? They have been talking about Deflategate for 72 straight hours, they are literally sitting in front of a massive Deflategate graphic and they can say with a straight face that this wasn't a big deal until Tom Brady lied!?? No evidence that he lied, they just KNOW. OMG!!!

I think I just stumbled upon why this is such a big thing. ESPN and the media love it for the ratings, the people who believe it or people like me who hate it and think it's the dumbest thing ever... we all just watched it. I just wrote four paragraphs about it.... Mind blown.

Wow Keith Olbermann is the world's biggest douche. Political talking head who has invaded the sanctity of my sports world. Such a nightmare.

Hey, maybe the media piling on is turning off the nation?

Wow, it's 49-1 on the states. Screw Nebraska.

Do you believe Bill Belichick and Tom Brady when they say they do not know how the Patriots' footballs got deflated in the AFC title game?

Has the actual low psi number been confirmed anywhere? I keep hearing 2lbs, but is this a factual number?

Has anybody definitively stated whether or not it's possible for a ball that started at 12.5 psi at "test time" to have dropped by the time the "deflated" number was discovered? Especially given the temp drop from the environment where the ball was filled to the field of play. If it's determined that the pressure drop was absolutely possible without manual deflation, shouldn't this issue be dead?

One thing I do find entertaining to this day is the Spygate charge. In the summer of 07 (I believe July) Don Banks wrote an article on the ways NFL teams break the rules to gain an advantage. I saved the link to the article, but it now routes you to Bleacher Report. A quote from this piece, "The most common practice is for a team to videotape an opponent's signal-givers on the sideline, and later marry up those indications to the game tape in order to identify tendencies or patterns.” This article was posted on sportsillustrated.cnn.com 3 months before the infamous Jets game. Banks referred to this as the "most common practice". In other words, lots of teams did it. They just didn't have a former coach rat them out.

I always wondered why this article wasn't referenced during those charges, and why Don Banks wasn't in the front stating how common this practice was.

Interesting points to consider (especially for those thinking "it has to be Brady"):

  • Does anyone question the fact that when a QB chooses his favorite footballs (to submit for inspection), especially one who lobbied for that privilege (along with P. Manning), would do anything to jeopardize that luxury?
  • Does the following comment sound accurate/believable? "I don't want anyone touching the balls after that". It does to me. Why would he allow those balls to be altered (after the fact) when he has no direct control over the process? Wouldn't that be too risky (esp during a game)?
  • Do you doubt his assertion that he didn't recognize any difference between the balls utilized in the 1st half vs the balls utilized in the 2nd half? I don't.
  • Did anyone catch (during his description of the selection process) that squeezing the ball, or the ability to squeeze the ball, was not a criteria he considered? Instead he looks for tactile feel, etc. Makes sense to me.
  • We view BB and TB as iconic figures...almost defining the Patriots through these two figures alone. Did anyone consider the possibility that another coach or staff member could have directed something that BB and TB were never aware of?? BB stated that nobody on his staff did anything, but would they disclose such information knowing the implications??

I hope the pats refuse interviews to all ESPN for the superbowl. No 1 on 1 with berman or anyone with brady or belichick. God I hope they do it.

I was thinking about that. Honestly if we win, the coaches and players should tell a good portion of the media to fck off. Just like Belichick did with Tom Jackson.

There would be nothing quite like blowing off a bunch of mediots post Super Bowl.

I'd like to think we are going to be pissed beyond recognition and destroy the Seahawks. Even if we are, does anyone really think we are going to get a fair shake in this game? I almost feel it will be more of a miracle to win this game than the Rams game.
