Suspending without evidence of wrong doing?

Aikman is an a-hole.

I don't think Brady gets suspended. I don't think he did anything. I don't think anyone did anything. Balls were lower pressure after a half of play? m'kay... That's kinda what you'd expect. It's just more and more evident this is only a story because the media wagged the dog NFL style. Let 'em. They'll end up right where this mess started because there is, quite literally, nothing to see here.

I'm just sorry I got suckered into it yesterday before better sense kicked in.

A half of play and getting squashed by 200+lb football players will deflate a ball I am sure

Even if Brady ordered the Code Red (which seems laughable at this point) ... why on Earth would he be suspended? Setting aside that he's the marquee player in the upcoming marquee game, he's never gotten in trouble with the league for anything prior to this theoretical worst-case scenario.

It almost feels like it was the Pats PR strategy to let the media punch itself out the first couple days, and now that they are sagging, BB & TB come in with the knockout punch, make it all look like much ado about nothing (supported by NFL investigation that found no tampering) and DOWN GOES MORTENSON! DOWN GOES MORTENSON!

Using Ropeadope against actual dopes.

Its a sound strategy. Get as much information on public opinion before offering a position.

Between Stacey and Berj Najarian BBs got some good PR people to tactically handle this kind of BS.

Substantiates my theory that the NFL had nothing from the onset...consider:

They release some info to a writer from Indy on Sunday who has vitriol for the pats...

Monday nite they release info to Mort @11:00 PM, so it can make the morning news...

The Colts notified the league after the 11/16 game.. if they knew about this malfeasance why did they waif for the AFC Championship game??..

Of course the Colts had their balls inflated to the correct pressure, they knew it was coming..

They have controlled the information in the court of public opinion, as they have no other way to pursue.. end result Goodell looks good.. people have made up their minds on the Patriots..

If you read carefully, the exculpatory evidence was provided (inadvertently) by the Colts themselves. Reportedly, they found a deflated ball during their home game on 11/16. This was a game in which the Colts' own ball attendants were in charge of the balls after the officials allegedly inspected them. Looks like the blame should be on the officials, not on the team.

Again any talk of punishment is moot.

The patriots have all the leverage here. if the league comes down on them for ANYTHING at all in relation to messing with the balls, all they have to do is appeal it, and then submit exibit a.) Vikings vs Panthers. Both teams, ON VIDEO shown heating up the balls DURING the game using the on field heaters, in strict violation of the rules. the penalty, a memo saying please don't heat up the balls.

Case ****ing closed.

in the offseason the league has to do one of two things, change the wording of the rule, to something like the psi of the ball must be within x amount of This number when tested at random times. or b.) both teams must use the same balls, as prepared by the nfl.

Not gonna happen.

How many rings does Aikman have?

Hmmmmnnnn?

I wonder why he is so invested in this?

Hmmmmnnnn?

Who is Mortenson????

Best post I've read all week.

I don't if this has been mentioned but if TB wants his balls inflated to the bare legal minimum then they could have easily dropped below league requirments going from a room temperature and sitting out one the sidelines.

You know, the more I think about it, I am really beginning to think it is possible (not saying it definitely is), BB is the brains and genius behind this whole ploy. Not only can he use it for expanded "motivation", and the way the jack rabbits in the media that hate the Pats would gravitate toward anything "anti-Pats", that this was set up to allow them to on their own make complete asses out of themselves in front of the whole world. If that is the case, clearly BB is the "mad scientist" that we have come to know and love.

A one-time football journalist now turned media hack.
Thank you but can you now provide a link to how this Mort guy ****ed our team please.

The rule has the penalty in it. $25k is the floor. This is an easy resolution for a nothing violation.

Beyond it being a rule, as I said above - this is in the game operations manual, not the rule book. I'm not sure it's on Brady to even know the PSI values. Is it?
