(mods, feel free to merge, not sure if there's a thread already)

I'm hoping like hell this presser, and the league releasing their results, puts this all to bed by end-of-day today. I also think the Patriots will get next to nothing in penalties, as more and more it looks like initial reports weren't entirely accurate and the 'science' side of things will ultimately exonerate the Pats here: their footballs started at the bottom of the acceptable range, dropped out of it through natural causes, nothing to see here.

That said: What do you expect Brady to say? Will he treat this situation as a serious matter or work through the pressure to add some levity and try to show how absurd everything is?

My thoughts:
-'As with all QB's I'm very particular about how I like my footballs. A number of guys have recently talked about their preparation of footballs, I'm no different.
-'I like to have footballs inflated to the lowest league limit the NFL allows. The equiptment staff does a great job preparing the footballs, and the refs have never had an issue approving footballs that we've submitted'.
-'I can't control the weather, guys. Predicting what the elements will do to the ball isn't on my resume, I have a hard enough time avoiding 300 lb linemen to worry about whether a ball loses some air pressure during a game'
-'We're on to Seattle'

What say you?

Yes. Key points:

- We inflate to the minimum 2 hours before the game (someone please tell him to use the word indoors), that's how I like it. And it complies with the league.
- Didn't tell anybody to deflate below the minimum.
- Didn't see anybody deflate below the minimum.
- Has no idea why they were 2 PSI below. Insinuate could be nature, as BB did.

And as long as there is no evidence the Patriots equipment folks did anything, then guess what, we're fine. I don't know why anybody would be surprised the Colts balls didn't drop [in PSI] given they knew going into the game they were going to try and nail us for it.

The more I think about it - the more I'd be surprised if Brady or any player/coach knew of or sanctioned a ball boy deflating the game after inspection. If they didn't realize what was at stake and what was there to lose, then they were naive - I do not think they are naive. Let the facts come out, let's see what the Commish can prove.

One thing everyone says is let's see how much the Colts balls weighed. Even then it wouldn't depict an accurate comparison because the Colts kept going 1 and Down basically. The Pats were going up and down the field and falling on it, etc. Obviously, there would be more wear and tear, no?

Some how, I'm guessing he'll do OK. He's usually smooth as silk.

I'm sure he'll say it's inflated to the lowest allowable level and he can't help what nature does to it after that.

Yeah, I mean there have been callers to felger and mazz who said that it would have had to drop to -18 degrees for it to decrease by 2 psi

I know a friend that knows a friend, that has a buddy who has a sister whose friends with one of the pats cheerleaders, and they got me a copy of Tom's opening statement:

"Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

Apparently It's come to light that our footballs were a little under the minimum psi. I just want to set the record straight here, because I feel like my team is getting a lot of heat for something, that really isnt a big deal.

I've been in this league for 15 years, When i first joined everyone used the same balls...footballs. a number of years back the rule changed and everyone got to have the balls how they wanted them, here is the thing, I like my footballs on the low side of the required limit, the balls come in, we have a set of guys, these are great hard working guys, and they work em just right just how i want them, they hand the balls to the refs who then test them mark em and lock em away. The problem seems to be that for whatever reason, the balls at the game were a little lower then normal, But from what i saw, the refs took them, tested them, and passed them, so we used them. It's really as simple as that, we used the balls the way i like em, after the refs approved them to be used.

At half time the refs tested them again, which is strange, I'm all my years I've never seen that done, but apparently they tested a little low, so teh refs added some more air, approved them, and locked em away. At the start of the second half we used these new pumped up balls, because that's what we were approved, by the nfl refs, to use. It's really as simple as that, I'm more comfortable using a ball around 12.5 psi which is the approved limit, apparently some teams Cawing about it, and upset that we beat them, well Never more Like coach said, We'll play with whatever ball the ref puts into play, and from this point forward we will ignore the leagues own limits on ball pressure, and pump it up to the maximum to hopefully avoid this issue in the future. Now our focus is on Seattle, they are a great team, with a great defense. p.s. peter king, Maybe you should lose some weight, you fat ugly pos. seriously I had a hard time figuring out which idiot was you, and which one was rosie o'donnell. since you both have the same amount of sports IQ"

If we are never found of any wrong doing and it was in fact the Colts that caused this whole thing then I think the Colts need to send the Patriots some cash and picks for libel and slander.

Once again people are conflating air pressure with weight. The weight is irrelevant, the discussion is about v how much air pressure is in the ball, and once again b the actual difference is negligible.

Nicely done...hopefully he doesn't chicken out with the Rosie/King piece :D

If n they called those two assh.les them their agenda was already set. The Patriots and their fans need to blacklist all of those who were in the lynch mob. The Patriots players should give them the complete silent treatment, and their true fans should shut them off entirely and never turn them back on.

it's not 2 points it's .2 points.

He had it in all bold with Don;t forget this part written in red right next to it.

source?

regardless, I just want this to be over. it's such a non-story and we're 10 days out from an amazing SB

I admit I am feeling anxious waiting on Brady's presser.

it's not 2 points it's .2 points.
I missed the Belichick presser but read he said something about 12.3. Is this whole ****show actually over .2 points?

As everyone else here, I too, am hoping for the best out of this presser, but one thing which bugs me is the fact that TB addressed the team privately today, letting them know he likes his footballs a ‘certain way’.

I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling that he may have actually done something or was involved in this one way or another. Otherwise, why the need to address the team? To me, addressing the team is like preparing them for some major backlash that is about to come…

Am I wrong?
