Bill Belichick will meet with the media today at 9:30 a.m

The way Brady laughed off the story Monday on D&C tells me I shouldn't expect any big confessions when he speaks.

Brady interview moved to 4:00, previously wasn't until tomorrow. We'll see what he can do to follow this.

Brady should say he has the guy pump the balls up to 12.5 in a room that's plenty warm. Thought it was within the rules (it is). Then the ballboy cranked the heat to 85. Doh!

The only thing with the "I had no knowledge" bit is ... this guys knows the rule book inside and out. And.. when Brady said something after the Ravens game about the Ravens should study the rule book, I cringed a bit; now I know why.
He knows what effects the game inside the out. I don't think he cares about other peoples' pre-game responsibilities.

BB's in the clear, and he knows it. And the Chicken Littling about "throwing Brady under the bus" is freakin' epic.

Hypegate PTSD. A reflexive expectation that some red meat must be offered to the howling mob.

Brady moving his press conference to today seems like a good thing. Gets this all out of the way.

Maybe the league mandated they both talk today to the media to, pardon my French, "deflate" the situation.

I would assume a judgement is not far away.

Former Pro QB Tim Hasselbeck said the exact same thing yesterday that Belichick just said - this ball inflation game has nothing to do with the head coach. It's all about the QB and the equipment manager.

I think the odds that BB and Tom have not coordinated their stories/public statements in advance are slim.

Slim walked out the door, I would say odds are NONE. Guarantee you BB & TB "tag teamed" on this one !!!! Gotta love it !!!

Wow, you could hear the emotion in his voice as he was going through his review of the events.

not 100% sure what it was (probably pissed off to be out there)

SO basically they inflate the ball only to the minimum. No margin for weather or gronking.

He just gave the league their are out as well. It's clear that he didn't know about this or orchestrat it and that is pretty much what a lot of people have been saying in the media as well lately. The league will not be able to come down and hang the head coach if didn't know and it is pretty clear that he didn't.. Without direct proof of any player doing it. End of story. After watching this, My thinking is this will go away fairly quickly. Perhaps a fine maybe a minor draft pick just on principle

It sounds like Belichick said Tom can fill you in on his preferences for the football. That was it. Nothing more than that.

He didn't have to say that. It surprised me that he said it to be honest. Maybe it's nothing but I suspect the media might start to put Brady more in the spotlight after this.

But the rules don't require any margin. Or does it say anywhere that the pressure can't fall outside the 12.5-13.5 psi range at any time during the game?

Brady should say one game the ballboy took balls and inflated them to 12.5 in the morning which was a cold november morning. Then in the game the temp was 75 degrees and the ball felt tight. Told the ball boy he should have inflated in a warm room to account for the game time temperature increase. This happened year ago.

The ball boy has since taken that as his mission to always pump up the balls in a warm room, even though Brady just meant to not have it be COLDER than the game time. So the ballboy cranked the heat up to 85 or so and pumped it up.

Then the temp falls to 45 on a wet day which quickly lowers the inner air temp to 45 and....presto!

They will probably suspend Brady instead.

Thoughts after the presser...
  • I think BB has complete knowledge of the league's process in how it handles footballs on game day
  • I think BB has a complete understanding of what QB's do to footballs prior to games.
  • Does he know if Brady mucks with the balls on game day? Yes. Will he give him up? No, but clearly he is leaving it to TB to explain/handle.
  • BB did what he had to do.
One thing is for sure, Stacy James is earning his money.

Brady didn't tell anyone to break any rules either, I can promise you that. He simply told them his preferences and they do it. No one's complained before so why would he know something was wrong (especially when you read the ridiculous preparation that goes into an ELi Manning football). Brady is not there with the rulebook in one hand dictating to the ball prep guys.

What BB said is exactly what I have thought is the likeliest explanation this whole time,.
