If the reports from Mortenson via the league source that they are "disappointed, angry and distraught" are true, it probably doesn't have much to do with the referees.

I'm losing hope by the minute here. According to Mortenson, the league has already confirmed the fact that they properly tested the balls before the game, and that they know they were fine 2 hrs earlier.

Add in some whiny Colts from earlier in the month of November, and we're heading towards a bad direction in my opinion. In other words, the NFL had already supposedly known about this and had already planned to test the balls at the half. It doesn't seem like they found anything good.
We still haven't defined what a "proper test" is though. Was it squeeze or gauge? If the latter I'd think Morts report would be the ball was test at 13psi before the game. I have read nothing of the sort. The only proper accurate test I've read about was the halftime test.

it now appears BB will speak before the NFL itself, which will likely set the scene to full atomic whether he says anything or (more likely) nothing at all.

I'm not too sure that Belichick's presser in the morning will be any different than his presser on Tuesday.

They will both be examples of the media throwing questions at him about this, and they will both be examples of him likely deferring all questions.

Well, here ya go--as of 6 hours ago:

Bits and pieces from Schefter, Mortenson, WEEI, and Troy Vincent.

What about it? The league hasn't actually said anything yet. It's a disgusting display that they've now allowed 3 full days before any official comment on the whole thing, and it now appears BB will speak before the NFL itself, which will likely set the scene to full atomic whether he says anything or (more likely) nothing at all. If you mean media prosecution I think that's a disgusting joke too. All we're left to do is speculate on hypotheticals so that's what I'm doing too because I don't know what else to do.
So far the new process seems exactly like the old one with the league reminding us that it's different.

The only thing that can help us is if Goodell just comes out and flat out says it's a league wide thing and that the nfl needs to do a better job at cracking down on it

If he can't admit to the fans of the nfl that everyone does it, the story will remain that the pats cheated.
Disagree. I no longer care that everybody views us as cheaters, so long as that perception does not impact future games, punishments or dealings.

Right again nothing conclusive. This is the germane portion:

League sources have confirmed that the footballs were properly inspected and approved by referee Walt Anderson 2 hours and 15 minutes before kickoff, before they were returned to each team.

This just means they passed inspection which could have been a squeeze test. Had they been tested for psi surely that detail would have come out. The fact it hasn't leads me to believe league pr spin is the cause of the delay.

What is the "new process" that you're speaking of?
D'oh didn't realize the post Ray Rice stuff was personal conduct. The use of "transparent" in their statements regarding this and that threw me.

Guys stop being Homers. If the Patriots really cheated by deflating the footballs, emphasis on the word if, they should be punished. I'm talking about Fines, Suspensions etc. It doesn't matter how great Bill Bellichick is, he still not above the law and the League. Everyone who knows me across different Boston Sports Forums, knows I'm not a Blind Homer, and I call it like I see it.

With spygate, I defended the patriots and thought people were Overblowing the situation. Although I did understand the punishment. Now this, I just can't defend them anymore if true .

The first incident that we were accused of cheating was in 2001 with the Rams, second incident Spygate, now deflategate. Bill Belichick has ruined the image of this franchise. I'm sorry to be one that has to say that. I have only been a fan of the team since 2001 having came from Nigeria, so I didn't get to witness the awful years of the Patriots being a Bad Team, with that said, I think that's one of the reasons people give him a pass. Besides Parcells, he has been the only good coach we ever had that has turned us into a really good team, even great so some people tend to excuse his bad behavior. Well not this fan. If Bill Belichick gets fired tomorrow, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Yes I will be grateful for him turning the Patriots into a great team, and having won three Super Bowls, but he is not above the game and the league. Truth be told I hate the Bill we trust Moniker . I truly believe that is used to defend his bad behavior including drafting and signing players who have turned out to be busts and now with this situation.

Now if the Partiots did nothing wrong, then all these becomes moot, and is on to Seattle. I will always be a Patriots Fan, but I will never condone a team cheating whether it's done by my team, or any other team for that matter.

I mean absolutely no malice by this, but I struggle to see how any Patriots' fan could legitimately raise the walkthrough taping allegation in a sincere manner. But I digress.

No one is condoning their behavior if it's true that they altered the footballs, simply pointing out that it's incredibly benign and insignificant. They're really no different than any other team.

If the Pats are guilty, well then I will have all the time in the world to be disappointed. And criticize whoevers fault it was. For the time being I prefer to hope and see ways that they might be innocent.
Psi levels may be a rule but it seems its not a highly regarded one, so big deal. Even if found guilty I wont be very upset. but rules are rules so let them punish the Pats. As we have seen so far though we have 2 sets of ways to enforce rules one for the Pats and one for other teams. Teams caught in the act>>> heaters on sidelines>>> just a warning. A memo sent out to other teams not to do this, you can be sure if Pats did this it would be a penalty 1st time, no ifs ands or buts.

The fact that "Patriots' success is tainted" is even an option is disrespectful in so many levels.

So DeflateGate is why we've won 3 SB, been to 6 SB, 9 AFCCG, and won the Division 12 times?
Pathetic.

With all the one sided info out there I think its remarkable that its only 52-48. Its like only the prosecutor has had his say so far. Will the defense please step up. Of course if we get some real vid or witness evidence then it will change for the worse.

Time for the day shift of posters to come on board, got to hold the fort:cool:

I agree that's it's insignificant bro. The Patriots are the superior team, and still was going to win the game whether the balls were Under Inflated or Over Inflated. Bill doesn't have to do these things in other to win games. He is a great coach, so he doesn't need it. We were the Better team against the Rams, Colts, Jets. No need to tarnish our reputation across the league and have our Super Bowls tainted for something insignificant . Everyone outside New England thinks we are cheaters, and that's not fair to the Fans, Players, and Robert Kraft. That's all. The Players worked hard to reach to the super bowl, and look at what everyone is talking about instead. The spotlight should be on the players on having a great season and reaching the super bowl. Players have to give up a lot to make it to the super bowl, so Its not fair to have this taking away from them.

If I were Belichick or Brady I would start off my next press conference with this:

We in here talking about balls. I mean, listen, we're talking about balls, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about balls. Not a game. Not, not … Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last. Not the game, but we're talking about balls, man. I mean, how silly is that?

Then stop 'telling it like it is' because you have no idea how it is. This franchise is relevant because of Belichick.

I can still have my opinion though. Thank You. Doesn't mean I'm right or wrong, but I'm entitled to it. I'm not one of those in Bill we trust guys, so don't expect if from me. I never claimed to be an expert on the Patriots history. Please stop nitpicking. I simply gave my opinion on the deflate gate. You can disagree with me, that's fine and I welcome that, but please do so respectfully.

We accuse other fans of being biased and Arrogant, but are we not doing the same thing. I'm going to keep speaking the truth whether I get dislikes or thumb downs. I'm not here for that. I'm just going to wait for the league to finish their investigation, but let me say this, if the patriots really did cheat, the outcome/punsihment wouldn't be pretty. That's all im going to say regarding this issue until further notice.

Saw this posted on a different forum and it makes so much sense. I don't know why the NFL haven't taken the hysterical wind out of the medias sails already.

It's ridiculous that this is even being discussed, let alone by blown into a full on ****storm.

A deflated ball helps a QB grip the ball and receivers catch the ball marginally better but has a slightly negative effect on throwing accuracy and flight of the ball. Wearing gloves does the exact same thing. So let's not pretend is some major issue, or that it's "cheating".

You rambled on about our arrogance here, but you've got some self-important shtick going. thanks for flying by and dropping your amazing wisdom all over us.

Disliking for my posts for no apparent reason whatsoever will get you ignored also. Two can play that can, and I can play it with the best of them if people want to act Silly. Not everyone is going to be a homer, and wave their blue and white Pom poms. I'm going to praise the Patriots when they do something right, and I'm going to disagree and call them out when they do something wrong. If some Patriots homers can't handle that, don't read my posts or put me on ignore. I really don't care. Believe me.
