The Stupidity Begins: Jason La Canfora reporting a bogus claim vs. the Pats

Mike Golic just mentioned off hand how the Patriots filmed the Rams practice in the Superbowl. Another reminder why I hate the Boston Herald for starting that rumor.

And WEEI for hiring him now... I can't even keep up with Pats news right now for boycotting their radio and website

Now Jason La Canfora is reporting a Raven source believes the Pats tampered with the kicking balls because they felt they were under inflated. No where in the report does La Canfora report that kicking balls are pool balls controlled exclusively by the officiating crew. So the Pats do not have access to the balls except on the field and the Pats would use the same deflated balls. So this is just a sour grapes story by the Ravens source and shoddy reporting by La Canfora.

It's such shoddy reporting that it had to be posted on this board? Great.

And if we do?

So what. What does a fan get out of it at this point?

It won't feel the same, but at least the offseason will be tolerable.

I absolutely understand your point. I will not speak for anyone but if NE rolls (which I think is unlikely) then I will get great satisfaction out of 53 players and coaches sticking it to other teams and fans of other teams. They are smearing the effort and dedication of all the guys and coaches in that locker room, the effort and sacrifice (being away from their families) they put out since spring.

Make no mistake, those players are going to be foaming at the mouth. I care about winning this next game and care not about what will always be there anyways afterwards....

How about a $25K fine for him and kick him in his under inflated balls? :)
Maybe all the balls on Sunday (Pats, Colts and K balls) were underinflated... That might explain why Adam V's. FG attempt was so ugly....Ever see him miss one that badly???
And the K balls are under total control of the league.......

I'm having a hard time picturing what it would feel like, to be honest. Oh yay, a win we can't celebrate because everyone but us thinks we cheated! Sign me up.

I don't think I'll care if we lose either. I can't imagine the league wants to see us as champions anyway.

If they win I'll celebrate twice as hard. That might help make up for the fans who are quitting on the team.

So much of this crap is on Bob Kraft for accepting the Spygate bull$****e as meekly as he did. I love the guy but I can't stand the way he set us up for this.

From La Canfora's Twitter account:

As NFL investigates Deflate-gate would be wise to speak to Ravens. Some there believe kicking balls used in their playoff game underinflated

What are they going to do? Call John Harbaugh and ask him who is dumber, the source spreading this rumor or LaCanfora for not understanding the rules and that the refs control the kicking balls.

Someone could tweet him that in reply.

has anyone reported incorrectly more than la canfora? hes awful

Since when do conspiracy people need to be rational. They can make anything up and say that it is possible and if it is, then it can be true and if it can be true, then they did it.

For example even though the refs control the footballs, the Patriots could have had someone paid off or snuck someone in to do the dirty work.

This is the type of crap that drive me nuts (short trip for me, i understand).

1. I think standardizing psi is stupid since it has no bearing on the other team. Every QB likes their balls a certain way. Fine.

2. If the refs didn't like the balls, they should have swapped it out.

3. Even if it is ruled an infraction, this is one of the least aggregious rulings that has no bearing no the outcome of the game. It is only magnified because it is the patriots.

4. So as a fan, I'm totally not bothered by this. Aaron Rodgers wants to over inflate his footballs, do it. How has that got to do with the other team? Eli manning wants his footballs beat up like its 10 years old, go for it.

5. Should we also discredit the Bronco's for playing 1000ft above sea level? How about the noise level in domes? It should be quiet for both teams on offense no?

6. Should we have all the players wearing the same cleats, jock strap, gloves etc? I mean whatever golf club Tiger Woods is using is clearing cheating everyone else.

You are taking this too close to heart. We are talking about the inflation of a football. As the players themselves do, you need to learn to ignore the noise. Its meaningless.

Remember this is just a game. Go watch and enjoy and stop worrying about legacies and crap like that. If some guy in Pittsburgh or some reporter in Indy doesn't like it well too bad. It doesn't change the fact that those 30 other teams are on vacation right now.

Seriously? I honestly think a victory would be even more satisfying considering all of this stupid ****. Further, history is not going to remember the PSI of the footballs in the AFCCG if we win the big one.
