ESPN: 11 of 12 footballs under inflated by 2 pounds of air.

I'm not a Pats fan, but many non-Pats fans and Pats fans alike seem to feel the same. Why even do these things? If videoing the signals and under-inflating the balls offers no great advantage, why do it? They're just bringing it on themselves.

Why does the supposed greatest QB Aaron Rodgers overinflate balls?

Gents, Bills fan here and not trying to troll.

Think every non Pats fan agrees this had no bearing on game...it is strictly what else are they doing and just have not been caught.

I am 52, Belicheck is the best coach ever and Brady the best QB...they win without Spygate and they wil without this foolishness.

BUt unfortunately the question is are they winning with something that has not been discovered yet?

My feeling is if Goodell wanted to sweep this under the rug he would've put a sock into it ASAP and done so. Investigating for days and letting the team take heat like this for this long probably means a fine is coming.
We know, with Goodell, that the measure of public outcry is what determines how severe the punishment will be. Though, I think in this instance if he goes overboard, there will be some pushback from the organization.

If so, I say it's time the Patriots start to reveal other teams and the leagues ugly warts. Take them all down if we have to go (or atleast go out fighting).

Its over.

Goodell is going to rip the Pats a new one.

Am I on a Packers forum? Did the Packers just recently go through a year long cheating scandal in which they lost a draft pick - the most highly publicized cheating scandal in NFL history?

Given the history, why even do it? They're only bringing it on themselves.

This whole mess is killing my Super Bowl Buzz, so I decided to run a roughly scientific experiment. I am risking my Jerrod Mayo-signed Wilson NFL football. I inflated it in my home at 64.5F, testing the pressure, it was roughly 15 psi (don't have an accurate gauge). I placed it in my fridge set at 37F. So, a difference of 27.5 degrees. I know this is stupid, but I wanted to see if there was any noticeable difference in the psi when I retest it. Its been marinating for 40 min and I have to go to work soon, LOL. I am going to try to give it another 20 minutes, but I am going to need an excuse for my boss why I am late for work. I will report my findings in a few... ;)FullSizeRender.jpg FullSizeRender (2).jpg FullSizeRende_r.jpg FullSizeRender (21).jpg

Again, is it proven that the Patriots organization did this or are you taking out of your ass?

If anyone wonders why I hate the media, here's a good example.
Even better is the Ravens actually referred to the balls used in the kicking game, not the ones used by the offenses.

Who cares about facts though right?

11 of 12. Here's the deal. Someone from the Pats had to have deflated those balls. One or more officials knew it. That is their job. They handle every ball before and after play. They were complicit. So what to do? Watch Goodell blame it on the officials as an "oversight", announce steps to prevent it, chastise everyone involved, and put it behind them and go on to the super bowl.

If the balls were indeed checked... lots of assumptions here.

A billionaire walks into a .99 store and steals a candy bar with 1000000000in cash in his pockets. Why?

HoF coach
HoF QB
Great team for the past what, 10-12 seasons?
Smashed the fugg out of the colts.
Headed to another SuperBowl.

My question is why does BB feel he needs to do these things? Does he have the Winona Ryder sickness, just can't help himself. I just don't get it. You just wrecked the colts and made the Super Bowl but he just couldn't keep his fingers out of the cookie jar... Why does he do this?

Jesus, guys. Chill. Occam's Razor applies here.

The simplest explanation is NOT that BB is a sociopath or that the entire Pats organization is corrupt.

The simplest explanation is that the balls were inflated inside and then lost pressure due to conditions outdoors and use in the game.

Besides, we're talking about 2 PSI. You know the media and how it generates hype. If the balls were supposed to be filled to 12.5 to 13.5 per regulation, and actually were tested at 11.5 PSI, then I ****ing guarantee you that the media will report that as "underinflated by 2 pounds", instead of under regulation pressure by 1 PSI. A fact easily accounted for by temperature, weather, and game conditions.

(BTW, LOL at the "2 pounds" instead of 2 PSI, thereby making it sound like the balls weighed two pounds less to you typical moron reader.)

The fact that almost every ball was consistently under by the same amount supports this theory.

The fact that nobody bothered to check the Colts' balls (not that they showed any in that game, ha ha) is just more injustice that ought to have Bob Kraft on the rampage, but unfortunately does not.

This is a ****ing tempest in a teapot if there ever was one.

**** Mike Reiss for his article this morning. I've lost all respect for that moron. And **** Jerry Rice as well.

Scenario 1:
The NFL finds that there is no evidence of the Patriots' tampering with the balls after they were inspected by the officials and that there is no way of knowing if the balls deflated due to weather conditions or if the officials erred in their initial inspection. Officials are cautioned to be very careful in their pregame inspections and teams are instructed to be careful as to how they inflate the balls. A common metering technology is put in place for all teams (if one does not already exist), subject to regular testing for accuracy. A study is commissioned to determine the levels of pressure that can reasonably be expected to be lost over the course of a game under different weather and altitude conditions. There are no fines or penalties for the Patriots. The majority of the media and fans still believe that the Patriots "cheated" again and that they cheat all the time in unknown ways, even though they got away with it this time.

Scenario 2:
The NFL finds and can demonstrate, as the result either of sideline video proof, a "confession" or a what it concludes is a reasonable preponderance of evidence gathered, that the Patriots tampered with the balls after an initial, accurate inspection. The Patriots are fined and also penalized by anything from loss of draft picks up to whatever else the NFL feels it can do. The majority of the media and fans feel that their opinion that the Patriots' are "cheaters" has been confirmed.

Except Herr Goodell placates public outrage. So Pats will get in trouble. They'll be fined something like $25k per ball and Belichick will be fined and suspended because Goodell will say that he was complicit in it and if he wasn't then ignorance isn't an excuse. Which that last part would be funny given how Goodell has done nothing but use ignorance as an excuse.

I still think that at the end of the day, they'll never figure out how exactly they were altered or even if the refs screwed up in checking them before the game. There's nothing 'red handed'

It will get chalked up as a general system failure and be dealt with after the season.

this is not the punching of a wife or the beating of a child. they will say impact was minimal and that the process failed to pick up on the problem.....no different than a blown call

NFL analyst @jamiedukes tells me he believes Goodell will drop the hammer if Pats are found guilty of Deflate-Gate. http://da.radio.cbssports.com/2015/01/21/jamie-dukes-nfl-will-lay-hammer-on-pats-if-found-guilty/…

What hammer is there to drop? Doesn't the rulebook suggest a 25K fine for this offense?

If Goodell does overblow this thing even further and come out with some outrageous punishment, then I will have to revisit my assumption that his decision-making is unbiased but simply stupid.

Would not be shocked in BB is suspended for the Super Bowl.
