The math here is 12.5 PSI at 112 degrees = 11 PSI at 45 degrees. It could be the answer and it would be legal as the rules don't forbid hot air to be used. I haven't heard 11 PSI though.
Mike Petraglia @Trags
An official NFL ball is 13 psi. According to @mortreport the 11 balls came in at 11 psi

The most interesting aspect of that Volin tweet is that if the balls were found to be under inflated at the half, then wouldn't that have hurt the Pats instead of helped them?

The Colts didn't score a point for the rest of the game, while the Pats went on to score 21 in the third quarter alone.

So in that case, I'm not sure what the fuss is about. We shot ourselves in the foot with a dumb equipment manager, mistake was fixed, balls back up to the right size and we went out and destroyed.

Again, I don't know what to believe anymore.
Well ,its volin.

Someone from the Pats needs to get a statement out refuting this.
Seriously. We just look more and more guilty by the second. Don't drag it out.

Would anyone have an issue playing this game this weekend and winner going to the super bowl the following?

I know I wouldn't.
Come on that's ridiculous.

Ben Volin ‏@BenVolin 32 seconds ago

Globe confirms that game officials discovered at halftime that game balls were underinflated. Tested each ball twice with different gauges

So there goes Bill's.. Hey..I didnt know anything til this morning crap during his interviews.. He knew at the half

Not necessarily. Belichick is busy talking to his team at halftime. The refs are (allegedly) checking the footballs. You can't assume BB was informed (assuming Volin's sources are correct).

Interestingly there is no media access for players and coaches of the pats tomorrow.

I just can't believe the pats would tempt this, I really can't.

They would have no one to blame but them self if they did.

That said, this is bull **** and has become the story of the super bowl instead of bradys and belechick record. Figures

I just hope our team responds with the fire they had in 2007 against the Chargers.

We will use this as motivation and destroy the Seahawks. Just watch.

In BB I STILL trust.

Agree. If there's a silver lining to this (if true), it's that the Pats will get fined, BB possibly suspended, we may lose draft picks, and the entire non-Patriot fan base will villify and ridicule the NE Patriots; THEN we will go out and stomp the everloving **** out of Petey and his boys on the biggest stage of them all.

I dont even know what to think about this. After this I dont think I could even enjoy the Super bowl if we were to even win it. This is just a devastating discovery. I'm seriously at a loss for words right now.

This is absurd.

Most likely a silly error on multiple peoples' accounts with no malicious intent to break any rules and now it turned into a ****show with the Pats trying to cheat again. Why would BB risk something like this anyway at this stage against an opponent where throwing the ball wasn't exactly the main part of the gameplan to begin with? Not to mention this opponent has shown they can't stop our running game whatsoever. High risk low reward. You can question the man's morals but there's no denying his intelligence and this just wouldn't be an intelligent move.

Come on that's ridiculous.

The whole bing is ridiculous.

My point was I don't think this issue had any outcome on the game and a rematch would just end the same way. Not that I think this should literally happen

Hopefully when the investigation concludes, Belichick isn't behind this. Under-inflated balls aren't the reason the Pats won by 38 points but it is pretty embarrassing if Belichick ends up being behind it considering other scandals surrounding him and the team in the past. I'm sure more details will come out in the next week.

I am surprise some of u are taking the high road on this. This is getting annoying.

"No wonder the pats demolished the colts second half, imagine being in that locker room and those refs come in to check the pressure and inflate those balls right in front of you?"

It does explain the very weird late-game drive where the pats were up by 40 or whatnot and Brady tried to force a bomb to LaFell. Seemed like a "FU" sort of play.

Just speaking personally, if I knew the balls were deliberatly under pressure, and the refs came in and inflated them in front of me, I would figure I was busted and would have been nervous and played poorly after that.

Maybe just me though.

I rewatched the game and the Pats players didn't seem affected at all.

Quick question, since you're so sure of your position:

If BB is guilty of intentionally ordering this, how does Kraft justify anything short of a long suspension or firing?

I highly doubt the league can actually prove that he is culpable. I'd have the organization push the blame onto someone else to save face, and keep Bill aboard.

Just don't jump to a conclusion yet.

Maybe its an old move which has been happening without him overseeing it but someone else.? Same way sean payton was held accountable.
