If the Patriots gave the balls to the refs to test at 11psi, it's on the refs since they would have been approved. If the Patriots changed the pressure after inspection, they're screwed.

Guys, the Colts balls will need the pregame and postgame PSI and I highly doubt, judging by the incompetence of the NFL, that they have these numbers.

I just can't believe this.

We have demolished the colts 3 times before, all of them within the rules.

No offense, but how do you know this? After all, if this really is the Patriots doing, it's not certain that this was the first time it was done.

Wow, can't believe this board right now. More info needs to come out but 11 of 12 is pretty damning. Blame the refs or cite Rodgers all you want but this isn't a good look for team going to its 6th super bowl.

Has anyone EVERY given ANY thought to the weight of the balls before this? Fan wise I mean.

Yet this bull crap will have every tom, **** and Harry talking about how we cheated and how we did it

It's infuriating really, spy gate finally went away and now this.

This is bad if the 11 are uniform. The Patriots could have inflated the balls with hot air which increases the PSI before they are measured then they decrease as they cool. This would actually be legal

Doing the math

12.5 PSI at 139 degrees = 10.5 PSI at 45 degrees

If the rule books don't ban it it is legal. As I said I do car racing. F1 is similar as far as how teams deal with rules as Bellicheck does. If the NFL does not want this then they need to explicitly ban it and then test the balls after the game. There would be nothing illegal in filling the balls with hot air before inspection knowing they would decrease after cooled but I doubt this is what they did.

This sucks

The balls are given to refs on Friday.

Since the measurement was during the game, physics could explain most of the drop. Going from 70F to 50F would be about a 1.5 PSI drop (as people here have calculated), and the balls are reported to have been measured at 11 PSI.

So it could be physics, it could be that the refs didn't do their job pre-game, or it could be that NE cheated. Can't tell from what we know.

I'd hope this is true. They NEED to weigh Indianapolis' footballs as well. They better have them in-hand.

I'm convinced now that belichick saw his team put the ball on the ground 3 or 4 times vs bal & decided to have the game balls deflated to be softer to give his players a better grip on the ball....inexcusable
This makes a lot of sense

I like bill but he has smeared this franchise.I am sick of this crap already.

The fact that he didnt come out and denied it gave me a bad vibe

Sadly, if anyone is responsible it's probably Brady. Why would belichick under inflate balls without his quarterbacks consent...?
I don't know why you are getting disgreed, you are making me laugh during tough times.

So Pats used properly inflated balls for 2nd half and Brady started off 2nd half 9 for 9 till Gronk dropped an easy 1

would be ironic if cameras cleared us of all of this.
it would be funny if they ran the tape and it was actually PEYTON MANNING caught on the sideline deflating the balls :)

More importantly first round pick multiple first round picks taken?
Revis and Mccourty leaves because they are embarassed?
Team falls into obscurity to prevent what one or two fumbles?
Problem is they would say how long have we been doing this?
What coaches players knew?
Let's hope the Refs don't write down the weight of the balls and we actually deflated them its crazy unless other teams do things like that?
We knows Colts pump crowd noise, Peyton gets the rules shaped In his favor. The Seahawks take steroids.
We obviously deflate balls have other teams one this?
Aaron Rodgers Inflates them nothing is done.
Carolina warms them nothing is done.
So after the refs weighed them we deflated them after the fact are you effing kidding me?
Please let BB come out clean on this.
He has a legacy to uphold.
I would demand video evidence.
If we gave the balls like that to the officials and they didn't weigh them its on the officials and the punishment should be less.
If we gave orders to have the balls deflated regardless what teams have given them we are watched and would be effed.

So what happened after this was discovered and replaced with "normal" balls? Oh yeah

EMBRACE THE HATE. I ****ING LOVE IT!!

I hope they weigh the balls for the SuperBowl live on TV before the game, and then we blow out Seattle.
Just like boxing or mma!

I'm actually on fire right now.

No wonder the pats demolished the colts second half, imagine being in that locker room and those refs come in to check the pressure and inflate those balls right in front of you?

NOT ONLY THAT but the refs STILL had to throw out a ball due to inflation issues, apparently. They couldn't even get it right when they was looking for it.
