Basically agree as long as it's not affecting the mentality of the team negatively. We have a game to play. And if we win that game, Roger can go sit on a big, fat, bildo.

Teams mentality won't change one bit. They know it's BS and they will be ready. this isn't a mentally weak team. A mentally weak team would have lost to Balt in the div round after being down 14 twice

BTW, guaranteeing a win against Seattle thanks, in large part, to this stuff.

When you tell an athlete that all of his accomplishments are due to cheating well...that is motivation of a whole different level.

pete rose picked us to win the SB!!:D

gregg doyle just wrote some article that the pats should be removed from the SB and the colts should take our place. what a joke that would be..

Now that NFL golden boy Aaron "Discount Double Check" Rodgers has been outted as a perennial "ball deflater", it's going to get even better.

See comments from below. Rodgers hasn't said a word about this example.

http://www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/rodgers-told-cbs-he-tries-overinflate-footballs
Basically:

-Rodgers is asked about the Deflate story. Rodgers says "I have a major problem with the way it goes down (meaning the official procedure with the balls and pressure). Majority of the time the referees take air out of the ball."

Rodgers comments came during the interview of the November 30th matchup. In other words, they are almost 2 months old.

--Again, he's not rushing to the Patriots defense, nor would I expect him too. His team just had a horrible loss, why's he gonna bother saving the Patriots. But he's not throwing on the dirt from my point of view either. Quite the contrary. One thing about Rodgers is he'll speak his mind about things in the league he dislikes. This is an example.

Again, he didn't come out and defy the league or even talk about it. The comments came from a CBS interview on November 30th. I believe that may have been the game against N.England, but I'm really too lazy to go and look it up.

In all actuality, it was Phil Simms speaking on what Aaron Rodgers supposedly said during their interview that day, so we never even heard from Rodgers then or now.

I just read that article with that BC physicist. I weep for his students.

Yeah, this is certainly quite the opposite of what some here have been saying.

I don't know who to believe and I don't really care. I just want the damn thing to be over with.

I LOVE "Deflate-gate"

LOVE IT!

You know why? BB already squeezes every ounce of perceived injustice or disrespect towards his team into a potent potion of champions. This was a gift from the heavens.

Pats just got another boost going into the SB, just as important as schemes or health, mentality. They'll play pissed off, and if they win, and this whole deflate-gate thing will be long forgotten.

Thank you very much Kravitz, Colts, and Patriot-hater nation.

Well, he's saying that there's no way that air temperature can deflate a ball, which is demonstrably false both scientifically and anecdotally.

Go to your local supermarket and buy a fully inflated balloon. Then watch what happens after you take it outside in 20 degree weather.

And the thing about having to let 2/3 of the air out? Letting out 2/3 would leave the ball nearly flat. That guy's a dope.

nice article on NESN

http://nesn.com/2015/01/phil-simms-aaron-rodgers-prefers-over-inflated-footballs-for-better-grip/

In an on-air exchange during a Nov. 30 game between the Patriots and Packers, CBS broadcasters Jim Nantz and Phil Simms discussed how the Green Bay quarterback apparently told Simms he likes a football with a little more air than is allowable under NFL rules.

“I like to push the limit to how much air we can put in the football, even go over what they allow you to do and see if the officials take the air out of it,” Rodgers told Simms prior to the broadcast, according to Simms.

Simms continued: “Because he thinks it’s easier for him to grip. He likes them tight.”

Simms noted this was unusual for NFL quarterbacks, who usually prefer a softer ball they can sink their fingers into. There was no word on whether the Patriots, who were facing the Packers that day, filed any sort of complaint with the NFL about “Over-Inflate-Gate.”

I agree that some of his comments seem to be quite extreme. I see no reason why a ball couldn't be slightly deflated due to elements, but then again I'm not really a highly scientific guy.

So if they win the super bowl what is the next conspiracy? Bill Belichick, did you order the Code Red?

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/1/20/7862021/superbowl-deflategate-new-england-patriots

The NFL just wants to get it right. That's why the league is planning to resolve Deflategate as soon as it can, because taking appropriate action after a thorough investigation is important to the NFL.

Troy Vincent, the NFL's executive vice president of football operations, said on PFT Live that the league is hoping to resolve the investigation over the next two to three days so that the Super Bowl can once again take center stage. Vincent says the league already has an investigation team in New England interviewing Patriots' staff members.

Vincent explains that the reason the NFL is actively pursuing this case is because the league values integrity, via WEEI:

"For a fan, you want to know that everything'€™s equal," he said. "The integrity of the game is so important."

Yes, indeed. It's very comforting to know that the NFL takes the time to thoughtfully handle discipline matters.

This will certainly only be fodder for haters in the future. Sucks they will bring it up, although it will be a way to identify trolls that much quicker is they do.

You don't have to be. I'm sure as Hell not. You have a football? Fill it up to 12.5 psi indoors, then leave it outdoors for a few hours and measure it. No formulas needed.

Speaking as an engineer, the physicist was probably misquoted.
I first posted PV=nRT Boyles Law
The T is degrees Kelvin. EDITED
There was maybe a ~ -5% degrees Kelvin drop in temperature between room and the field so I'd expect a ~ -5% drop in pressure.

That brings me to my point. All measurement eqpt needs calibration and checks for calibration. It would be easy for an instrument to be somewhat off were it not checked periodically. I'm sure if the league has competent people in their staff they'll look at this as well. Many scenarios including ASSUMING the Pats liked their balls deflated to the minimum, both temperature (small effect) and calibration error could lead to under inflation.

http://www.csnne.com/blog/patriots-talk/ex-ref-deflategate-non-issue

The Felger and Mazz Show had former supervisor of NFL referees Jim Daopoulis on to discuss the situation. Does he believe the Patriots are in trouble?

"I don't believe so. I think this is a non issue," Daopoulis said. "Completely a non-issue. I just can't imagine something like this happening.

"Basically what happens is the officials get the footballs before the game. They mark the footballs, they check the pressure of the footballs. There are so many issues going on, so many people out on the field. People that come out of the office in New York that are just walking around the field. And I don't believe ball boy that is making $10 an hour is going to stand there with a needle in his hand taking air out of the ball. And how do they know which ball they're gonna send in there? And basically if a referee or an official doesn't like the feel of the ball, he's going to throw it out. So I just think it's a non-issue right now."

Look everyone, another whiner here: http://nesn.com/2015/01/michael-wil...ose-super-bowl-spot-if-guilty-in-deflategate/

“The Patriots franchise is on probation as far as I’m concerned, from Spygate,” Wilbon said on Monday’s show, according to Boston.com. “If you’re a cheater, and you’re a multiple time cheater, I would say to the New England Patriots, ‘You know what we’re going to do? If this is found to be true, like today, tomorrow, the next 72 hours, the next three days, you know what? You’re forfeiting your spot in the Super Bowl. We’re vacating it. Get out! You’re a cheater, you’re a lying franchise.'”

What a fool.

Something to keep in mind about Wilbon is that he openly wished for someone to injure Brady during the 2007 season. It was discussed in an appropriately titled thread here (with a link to the original chat): http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/threads/michael-wilbon-is-scum.65454/

It's good to see he has maintained his calm, measured evaluation of the Patriots over the last 8 years.

As long as they measure the pressure of the ball under the same temp, there should be no issue. As the above post says, cold will decrease the pressure but if you bring the ball back to the same conditions as the original measurement, the pressure will be the same.

I think the NFL should define what conditions the ball pressure is measured. Ball pressure without any rule of measuring conditions is ambiguous and if you have your ball inflated at 12.5 at room temp and bring it out to cold conditions, the pressure will drop and be illegal. In fact, if you're at the min and the temp drops during the game, you could be under the pressure.

Maybe the NFL should measure it after every play (lol).

I know I have been a participant in this thread and as pissed as anyone but jsut taking a step back and thinking....people are talking about freaking air in a football..during superbowl . let that sink in a bit. Air in football. Media is clearly bunch of losers.
