Is there any chance we are about to watch Tom Brady's last game?

If, after winning, he immediately ascends to his rightful throne at the left hand of the father, I suppose. Otherwise, probably not.

I know Tom Brady has mentioned he's a football player and would love to play into his 40's, but is there a chance that we are about to watch his last game?

IF IF IF (BIG IF) we are fortunate enough to come away from this game victorious, is there a chance he reconsiders and chooses to go out on top like John Elway?

I suppose it wouldn't be as far fetched as it sounds. So as if you needed another reason to enjoy the game, keep this in mind.

This is silly. Brady is playing at an MVP level (elway was a shadow of himself who was carried to those SB wins).
WHEN Brady wins his 4th on 2/1/15, he will be thinking of nothing but becoming the first to win 5.
Same for BB. He ties Noll this year, and will no doubt want the 5th to ensure his GOAT status as well.

Did anyone see the interview with his dad on NFLN this weekend? His parents a seriously concerned about how he will replace that passion when he has to finally hang it up. I say at least 42. Hopefully never. Maybe BB can "cheat" father time and keep him here forever.

I might buy this if at any point in any interview I had heard any wishy-washyness about what Tom loves to do and how he feels about football. Take Manning for example, when asked about it it's well that's a year to year decision I will have to analyze and see how I feel. Him retiring especially If it was going out on top would surprise me not at all. Every interview, everyone you ask about Tom, everything the eye sees says Tom does nothing except eat, drink, and breath football. Besides his family it's the only thing he loves, the only thing he wants to do. So no, no way in hell with people still doubting him if he has the ability to crawl onto a football field will he hang them up going out on top or no. This team is young and only going to get better and IMO both Bill and Tom are devote students of the game and want to leave with 5 or 6 rings leaving NO doubt who the GOAT is.

I'm with you on this part. However I could see retirement after the 2017 Superbowl, especially if he wins two of the next three.

Brady is better now than ever is some aspects of his job description: reading defenses, helping to develop game plans, setting an example for work ethic, motivating the players around him, modeling resilience and determination in the face of adversity, and probably a few more.

He may not have quite as strong an arm as he did at 30, or be as nimble when he takes off on a run, that's true.

In terms of people in general, there are a number of professions, vocations, and responsibilities that people are better at as they age, right up until they get infirm. I'm much better at what I do now at 56 than I ever have been. And I'd be a much better parent right now than I was at 37. So yes, you are right: people at 37 are rarely in their prime, because most of us learn and build capability throughout adulthood. At 37, people just aren't old enough yet to be in their prime.

Well yes.........I was talking strictly sports here... Not other professions. Not many if any football players are in their "prime" at the age of 37. That doesn't mean they aren't still good or great or whatever, obviously.

Forget the rest of the idiocy...What a douchebag.

Just trying not to sound ****y like victory is inevitable and expound that this is only mere hypotehical if we win. I'm not really sure why that inspires you to be a jerk.

I do thank those that have offered some serious responses. I'll give credit to those that offered up some funny responses, too. Touche on those.

At that point he would have meet his goal of playing til he is 40 and there could be some real measurable decline. Three years from now going out on top would be far more realistic and attractive to him I am sure. This year though? No way in hell unless *knocks on wood* he ends being carted off the field on a cart

What evidence do you have that his performance is declined?

I'm not trying to have this huge debate over if brady is in his prime or not. Mainly because I think its silly and you may be one of the first I've heard even argue this...... But I see brady throw more balls at peoples feet now more than I ever have before. I've seen more bad throws by brady now than I saw while he was in his prime. Again, this is not to say brady isn't still great, OBVIOUSLY, but no QB is in his prime at age 37. This is just common sense. History says brady has 2-3 more great years left at best. He is at the end of his career, not his prime.

How efficient is the offense?

Here's a hint once the OL issues were fixed they ran up large number of points against D's that were considered elite. Any problems the O had this year were due to the OL depth being thin.
Brady's game has NEVER been based on arm strength it is based on reading the D and good decision making.

No, but if we win there's a decent chance it'll be Brady's last game as a Patriot.

TFB would simultaneously be at the end of his career with tremendous value after a SB win. If BB can get a ton of loot for him I think he pulls the trigger.

Nope. At one point in the last few years I thought if Brady won again, maybe he'd retire, but I don't get this sense from him. He is adamant about playing until he is 40 and beyond. I believe him. If he wins this year, he'll be going for it all over again next year.

After a Super Bowl win? Will never happen in a million years. Plus, Garoppolo isn't close to being ready. I could see this happening maybe two years from now at the earliest, if at all.

Then I guess he should have retired years ago when he may have been on top. Last two years in the playoffs have been embarrassing for him.

And Brady won't wait much before he dives headfirst into 2015. Same with Belichick.

We've been so blessed by the B&B show that it's very difficult to put it into words.

- How do you know about Garappolo's development?

- Would Brady's value be higher a year or two removed from a SB at 38 or 39?

He's a rookie.

Brady's greatest value is to the Patriots in the 2015 season. Depending on his performance, 2016 would be the time to start having this discussion.

How is this even a thread? What in the hell would give anyone the idea this would be Brady's last game? Unless, god forbid, some catastrophic event were to happen, there has been no indication he doesn't want to keep playing or that he can no longer play.

He will most likely retire because. Belichick is going to retire and the Krafts are going to sell the team to the Steinbrenner's.
