I also say game day or the day before, but it is a little bit of a risk. In Houston in 2003 people were shut out as they were not selling any tix at the stadium before the game (that was the year there were a bunch of fakes too). Other years there were tickets to be had outside the stadium, either from scalpers or legit ticket brokers. In 2001 the guy next to me got in after kickoff (about 1/2 way through the first quarter) for below face value. The last time in Indy there were so many ticket brokers selling cheaper tickets right before the game (Indy's stadium is right down town) that I vowed if I was ever going again I would wait until the day before to get my tickets to avoid paying through the nose. I also figured I'd better have a back up plan to watch in a sports bar nearby in case things did not work out.
Dead on the money.
2003 fakes galore and little or none for sale. Average price was $1700 nosebleeds. 2004, Eagles fans turned up in droves and the lowest ticket I found was $3000 nosebleed. Didn't buy either Super Bowl.
I bought my ticket for SB46 30 minutes before KO. Paid $1000 for a $700 face value ticket.
Awesome seat, Loge (basically 2nd level) 35 yard line.
SB42 I bought my ticket for $1000 from an Espn employee who had to work last minute. 3rd level 50 yard line. AZs stadium really doesn't have a bad seat in the house. 3rd level was like 2nd level in many NFL stadiums.
Couple of tips:
1. The Super Bowl 49 website should have a pic of this years ticket with security features.
2. If the deal seems to good to be true it is. This is the Super Bowl for scam artists too.
3. If you buy from an individual off the street, get a picture of the person with your phone. I they object move on. Get the cell #.
4. Some Firefighters that I met from Conn were robbed at gunpoint trying to buy SB46 tixs. Meet at a McDonalds or someplace with lots of people.
5. If youre buying by mail use a cashiers check and create a paper trail.
6. Don't trust anyone.
