The "I'm nervous about Seattle" thread

I wouldn't say I don't give a damn, but hell we've been through the worst.

Losing the 19-0 game, then getting a double nut punch to the same team. Seattle is not a rival, they're basically the favorite. I would love to win, I just don't think it would be the worse loss ever. I would rather lose to SEA in the SB then to Baltimore or DEN in the playoffs because we would have to hear **** from them every time we played again. We never see SEA.

I'm always nervous about every game. But I feel like the patriots have a good chance in this. especially with sherman/thomas being less than `100% the packers nearly beat the seahawks at home with a one legged rodgers.

the game will be tough but I truly believe this is the best patriots team in the superbowl since the championship years

I expect this to be a good matchup for the Patriots because they actually do match up well against this Seahawks team contrary to popular belief. Seattle has the perception and reputation of being a dominant team all across the board, but their offensive line is anything but, and despite Doug Baldwin's protestation, their pass receiving corps is pretty average.

It's clear that this version of the Seahawks is not as good as the one that destroyed the Broncos last season's Super Bowl. No one can convince me that their offense is more explosive without the likes of Golden Tate and Percy Harvin.

While their defense, specifically their secondary is top class, they're also weaker (and smaller) along their defensive line than they were last season. The rotational ability they possessed with their pass rushers is not the same as it was and their best run stuffer won't be available for them. Moreover, their comers on the boundary and in the slot are susceptible in one area that Patriots can exploit, and that is their inability to cover small shifty and speedy receivers. Along with that, their not that great at defending the short passing game and TEs have been able to attack them in the middle of the field and the redzone.

So in all in all, while Seattle does pose some unique problems, however I'd be far more nervous about the 2013 Seahawks than I would be about this version. The Patriots can beat these guys.

Not taking statistics into consideration, but only on how the teams look when playing, this game gives me great concern. I see seattle as very fast, very physical, and very talented. I see New England as a finesse team, not a smash mouth team.
If both teams play to the full capability of their game, The Pats are in for a long and hard game. They can win, but it will be a win that will make them sore for a week.
If both teams play like the did yesterday, the Pats will smoke them.

I have no worries about stopping them. I have so much confidence in this D. We finally have a secondary we can trust to allow us to blitz freely and place more emphasis on stopping the run without us getting torched. Not only that, Lynch averages less than 4 YPc and has never had a 100 yard game against us. We have stopped plenty of great RBs in the past and I have faith we could do it again.

What does worry me is their defence, over their unbeaten period, have been stifling offenses. This Seattle defence is far better than either of the Giants defenses we had to face in our previous two Super Bowls. They have as good, if not a better pass rush and far superior DBs.

Their defence will keep it close, and their offence and Wilson are at least competent enough to beat us. They have done before.

I think we can do it, but I don't think we should be over-confident about this.

I'm nervous, but I'm also excited! It's the Super Bowl!! Woo Hoo!! I have every faith, particularly in this iteration of the Patriots team, that they will leave it all out on the field and give the reach for the Lombardi trophy everything they've got. GO PATRIOTS!!

I truly was nervous, but i honestly feel the patriots are clicking all over the place.. i believe we match up well and out special teams will be key

I can't believe we have to wait two weeks for this game. Thank goodness for the long weekend this week, that might help make it feel shorter.

This game is going to depend on the O not crapping itself like they did in the last 2 SB's. If JMD starts going pass happy we're cooked. He is going to have to keep running the ball no matter how little the plays gain. I am hoping he proves me wrong this year as I have said before that we will not win a SB with him as OC.

Couldn't disagree more. This Pats team is physical.

I'm not nervous. I'm disgusted. A convicted drunken drug abuser along with a near brain dead media mongoloid have rained a torrent of sewerage on us and the league. Close to done with these media whores and their lowest common denominator writing.

Not nervous in the least.

Only thing I am worried about is the temperature in that dome ...
However my kid goes to soccer in the bubble and they can really heat that thing up so maybe that will be enough to prepare the team as our bodies are tuned in to the winter.

Ordinarily, I would say............. Of course I'm nervous, we are playing the second best team in the league (arguably the first) for ALL the marbles. BUT.............

After 2 weeks a the constant drilling of BB and the rest of the coaches into the players..... "listen to all them..... all of them.... Everyone out there thinks you are no good, talentless lumps that have to "cheat" to win games..... No body believes in us outside this locker room. Listen, listen listen...". By game time, the players will be so effing worked up and to "prove" something to the world.... This could very well be a blowout win.

Not super nervous yet. Not even really nervous but I bet that will change. I want a pats sb win so bad. Need a change of pace from the last 2 Super Bowls we have been in. I can live with this loss, but those last 2 really stung deep for a fan. But it'll be what it'll be. Seattle is limping in and the pats seem to be coming in hot, we'll see if that Trend continues.

I'm a Seahawks fan and I am far more nervous about NE than the Pats fans should be about Seattle.

It's actually not nervousness as much as it is understanding who they are playing. I would love for the Hawks to work it out but I won't be predicting a win over the Pats. Not this time.

There is no shame in losing to NE. They are just really good, but I would not be surprised to see a very close game in the 4th quarter

As much as I don't want to admit it, you guys have a number of reasons to be confident about winning this game. The big causes for concern on your end, in my opinion, are how healthy Sherman and Thomas are gonna be. Those two guys are ballers and I wouldn't be surprised if they still pose a tremendous challenge for us. Everything that's been needed to be said about Lynch has been said, and Wilson is quite the quarterback.. And as for Killer Kam? Yeesh, I'd love it if we got a guy like that on our squad.

On an unrelated note, I think that following this whole deflategate hoopola, most fans of the other 30 teams will be pulling for you guys. Maybe next season the Seahawks will be hated for being a great team, but as it stands now, I think that the resentment of the Brady and BB trumps any dislike that people may have of someone like Richard Sherman. Then again, I think it's good to relish being the "bad guy" and to use it as motivation (Look how being "liked" by the league and opposing fans worked out for P Manning) .

But anyhow, what's your outlook on this matchup? I personally see it as a game where neither team will score more than 23, or win by more than 3 pts... As it stands now, I have the score at 20-19 Patriots, but it's been shifting all week. Hopefully it's a clash for the ages.

All due respect--that's crazy talk.

The thought alone of losing a 3rd straight super bowl is enough to suck for many years, and that's not even bringing the legacies of Brady/Belichick into focus.

The fact that it's a "non rival" does nothing to change that.
