Bring them on lets go!!

Arizona has the same number of syllables as Cincinnati .

I think Belichick went with the wrong town on this one!

This is true, I prefer playing the colts lol. Perhaps the safeties can be exploited?

NFL pass defense rankings (yards)

1. Seattle
10. Greenbay
12. Indi
17. New England

Most people here go by points/game instead of yards/game since it better correlates with victories. Regardless, it's hardly definitive in predicting the victor:

Points Scored
NEP - 29.2
SEA - 24.6

Points Scored Against
NEP - 19.6
SEA - 15.9

Net differential
NEP - 9.6
SEA - 8.7

Gameover guys. Pats win by a point. :D

Seattle is going to grind our offense down. We'll need to do the same. This is going to be a defensive Super Bowl.

a lot of that depends on the health of thomas and sherman. it doesn't look like they will be at 100%. GB almost beat them yesterday (and frankly should have) with a hobbled aaron rodgers. They've lost Justin Hill (DT), Brandon Mebane, Paul Richardson and from last year's super bowl team Percy Harvin and Golden Tate. They are basically down to two receivers and an ok TE.

Rob Parker says Tom Brady will never go to another Superbowl.

Is he a giant effing idiot or do you agree?

Anyone else feeling really good about this match up? Their run game is good, but I would have confidence in them stacking the box and manning up on their pedestrian receivers.

Offensively, their Dline is not as good as Baltimore's, or even Detroit's or Buffalo's. We held up pretty well against those Dlines. They don't really have anybody that can create pressure up the middle, which is usually the way to beat Brady. As good as their secondary is, our strength in the passing game is the quick short/intermediate passes, which should be a good strategy of moving the ball on this defense. We won't run all over them like we did against Indy, but we should have some success running up the middle, where they are kind of weak.

well, I will say a few things about why I like our chances in this game.

1. The packers Defense pretty much shut down Seattle for most of the game. While decent, their defense is Nowhere near as good as the patriots. If we can limit Lynch and keep wilson in the pocket and put him in 3rd and long situations I like our chances to stifle them offensively.

2. Injuries to Thomas/Sherman. while they will likely play, a separated shouler and ligament damage to your elbow are nothing to scoff about and they will likely be at less than 100%. that is big for our offense. especially when the common consensus I have read is that sherman would have trouble with shiftier/smaller guys like edelman/Amendola.

3. While blount is no eddie lacy, they are similar in build/running style. and The packers showed that they could run the ball pretty well against the seahawks defense.

4. Aaron rodgers had pretty good protection all game I thought. Especially if stork is back and they can give brady protection I do think he will be able to find mismatches.

I'm feeling pretty good about the matchup but I don't want to underestimate Seattle. Last year they didn't look overly impressive in the NFC playoff games then came into the SB with a good plan and executed flawlessly, let's hope that doesn't happen again.

I wonder if Bluount will be able to run on these guys or if we'll come out like the Ravens game and pretty much have to abandon the run. Seattle is very similar to Balt statistically against the run this year I believe in terms of YPG. Although watching Lacy and Starks run yesterday would suggest otherwise. It would make things alot easier.

But even if we can't run, Brady is really on fire right now and the OL has held up tremendously. The Hawks don't seem to have the beef in the middle that tends to normally give Brady fits. Hoping for a vintage Brady performance here.

Defensively we're coming off maybe the best playoff performance I've seen. Completely dominant aside from one scoring drive. Let's pray that defense comes to play rather than the one that showed up against the Ravens.

Most important thing is we're healthy. That gives me more confidence than previous playoff trips. I feel good, can't wait to see what happens!.

They played a physically and mentally weak Denver team last year who gave up after the first minute. This Pats team came back from 14 points twice two weeks ago. They won't be able to break us mentally or physically like they did to Denver last year.

And as I said in my previous post, I think the match ups favor us for the most part.

Denver was still a very good team last year. I do agree that we are a tougher team now than they were then but still, that performance by Seattle in last year's SB was one of the more impressive displays I've seen. If they come out like that again this will be a tough one.

I agree on the matchups favoring us though. Brady had moved the ball well in our last matchup and just made some careless mistakes in the red zone. The OL hopefully will keep him upright and he should have a little chip on his shoulder this time from big mouth Sherman's comments last time. Our defense is alot better this time too I would imagine 23 points by our offense could very well get the job done anyhow.

Kind of a random point, but pertinent for the next game:

Lynch is a beast, no doubt. He's quasi "persecuted" by the NFL and media types - I agree with that too.

But if he scores against the Patriots and grabs his crotch - a taunting flag must be thrown. The TD he scored putting SEA up for the 1st time all day should've absolutely been flagged 15 yards on either the 2 point try or the kickoff - changing the complexion of either of those plays significantly.

Pats will be going to the SB for the foreseeable future,at least the next 2-3 years.Zero competition in the AFC

Did you miss the Ravens game? Baltimore will be even better next year.

My 12 year old grand daughter commented about Lynch's crotch grab on that TD. We were hoping she didn't see it, but no such luck.

WHat up AZ...see ya in 2 weeks....still can't believe it! WHat a year..what a team!!!
What a year, what a team! Couldn't have said it better myself. Let's finish the job, guys!

Congrats to the Pats and my old friends here at Patsfans.com. After Denver went down, yesterday's outcome could be seen coming a mile away as the Colts simply cannot stop the run. I told a coworker earlier in the week that the Pats would absolutely have to blow this game to lose it as that Colts D was easy pickings.

One thing that I love in this playoff run that I haven't seen in 10 years: Brady looked *good* in an AFCCG. He struggled against the Chargers and Ravens in the '07 and '11 wins. Each time I hoped he would have a bounce-back game in the SB and alas he didn't. Maybe this is the year he and the rest of the offense cap off the season with a masterpiece.

Okay, one more thing I love about this playoff run: Healthy Gronk. Missed him dearly the last 3 years.

Regards,
Chris

I think the Patriots are a safe pick. I felt great about the two Superbowls against the Giants, too, so who the f*** knows, but....

Belichick does a good job of taking away primary weapons (not a big secret) and the Patriots have experience against Lynch when he was in our division, and shut him down well enough. Wilfork is a wall and we have big linebackers. Jamie Collins will probably spy Wilson and Patriots secondary have shut down much better receivers than Seattle has. Those JAGS might as well just not even show up.

Russell will make some plays, but I doubt he'll make nearly enough.

Patriots offense going to kill Seattle D with motion and Blount should be effective enough to keep us balanced and keep them from going all nascar on the pass rush.

Patriots have faced much better defensive lines this year (Detroit, Buffalo, Baltimore) and held up fine.

I actually see a statement Superbowl win coming.

The `I'm nervous about Seattle` thread is a rehash of "Indianapolis is gonna' be tough"
