And what would "underinflated" mean coming from them . The bare minimum by rule could be underinflated compared to a fully inflated ball...

Take it for what it's worth but Schefter was saying that when the Colts intercepted the two balls in the game during the regular season they noticed that they were underinflated. Because of this, according to Schefter, they were on the lookout for it this time around and when Brady threw the pick in the first half they noticed the same thing.

If that's true, I don't understand why they wouldn't say something during the first game? Seems fishy to me...

An underinflated ball does no good in room temperature/dry conditions.

That game was in a dome.

Let me repeat that:

That game was in a DOME.

This is what the Patriots are playing for. Allegedly. #DeflateGate pic.twitter.com/3yVDeEacYx

I already hate Jim Rome. Anyone?

How could a tainted ball help Jonas Gray Rush for 200 yards and 4 touch downs? Unbelievable. This entire story is dumb. Teddy Bruschi is right this is sour grapes. The thing that pisses me off is that we fans are ticked off by this, but no one from the team has anything to say. Where is their outrage. That is why these teams think it's ok to throw around accusations. I would be cussing people out. Jerry Jones wouldn't put up with this crap.
Brady did say the following this morning:
"I think I've heard it all at this point ... it's ridiculous," Brady said Monday morning during his weekly interview with Boston radio station WEEI. "I don't even respond to stuff like this."

The more I read the more it seems that the referees are responsible for making sure the footballs are properly inflated, and the Patriots do not handle the balls. If the Patriots did something nefarious, it's the officials negligence in keeping control of the game balls. The rule:

Ball
  1. The home club shall have 36 balls for outdoor games and 24 for indoor games available for testing with a pressure gauge by the referee two hours prior to the starting time of the game to meet with League requirements. Twelve (12) new footballs, sealed in a special box and shipped by the manufacturer, will be opened in the officials’ locker room two hours prior to the starting time of the game. These balls are to be specially marked with the letter "k" and used exclusively for the kicking game.

Ok. I tweeted Reiss about whether or not the league is specifically investigating NE or not. The answer is that the league is specifically investigating NE. It's not just a generic "how did the balls get like that" investigation.

@rlcarr League specifically said it is "looking into the matter." The "matter" is Indy-based report accusing Patriots of doctoring balls.

(Though I should note that in a subsequent tweet Reiss also said his take on it was: "Silly")

Thank you. So the original source was correct. Ok Andy, now what?

Reiss is not a credible source either?

But the Indy report was from Kravitz? So the league is looking into allegations from a small time Indy sports writer? Makes sense..

LOL ex Giants K Lawrence Tynes has been talking smack to Pats fans including this nugget

Lawrence Tynes @lt4kicks I see that time has not healed the wounds of the Patriots faithful. Hang in there. Correct PSI is 13 equipment guys, helps stick to helmets

Now that is funny.

I disagee that 'looking into the matter' means investigating the Patriots. The matter is that the football(s) got removed from the game, and that is a 'matter' they always investigate.

Dude...

The "matter" is Indy-based report accusing Patriots of doctoring balls.

He pretty much tells us that is the matter. How the hell can you "disagree", when you don't know jack ****?

No you proved you don't. Really man. Now you are changing your argument to "responsible". Of course he's not responsible. But he's morally culpable for committing the foul in the first place, as opposed to playing fair. But again, you keep proving you have no idea what that actually means.

I chose the word responsible deliberately. You put forth the notion that the Patriots would be morally CULPABLE no matter how the deflation occurred, which is just about the stupidest thing anyone's written on any football topic this year:

Of course, even if nature deflates balls, I believe we're still responsible if we notice and don't report it.

Meh, every time there is a 'gate' the Pats win Championships. I welcome the foolishness.

Thank you. So the original source was correct. Ok Andy, now what?
Reiss is assuming what 'the matter' means. No CREDIBLE source has said 'the matter' is a suspicion that the Patriots manipulated the footballs.
This is exactly the point. People are jumping to conclusions that aren't there, and when that happens many people ignore the ending and think there was a coverup, or the Patriots are guilty by association. Why a Patriot fan would be spending their entire day after his theoretical favorite team just won a conference championship trying very hard to propagate that myth is beyond me.

So your best way to celebrate a SB trip is to spend all day trying to advance the argument that will lead to opposing fans trashing the Patriots even after it is shown that they did nothing?

Is think the Pats should teach the media a lesson and answer every question between now and the super bowl with "deflated footballs".

This is ridiculous! The Pats can't go to the Super Bowl without having to answer so ridiculous unfounded conspiracy theory!!!!

Guy seems awfully butt hurt for someone whose team already beat the Pats in the SB.

Even more chicken bleep is he's talking smack on someone else's dime.

And of course the league is also investigating the Rats tampering right?

That is also a big story that just came out yesterday right?
