Can we have a FAQ for this or something? The ball attendant is an NFL employee.
Ok, my only point was that it's not like the ref carries around all the balls for the game, they are in the hands of other people. And again, people HAVE done this in the past, so it's not like its impossible. Whether this is a witch hunt or legitimate gripe, let's not all sit here and act like doctoring a ball is impossible.

So the Ravens game where the temperatures plummetted to single digits, the balls were ok, but yesterday when the temp was hovering in 50s the balls are underinflated ?? I don't get this.

Also when you are allowed to overinflate the balls, ala Rodgers, whats the big deal about few balls underinflated?

BS, and love the hate. On to the super bowl baby !!

Gotta wonder how this would even happen.

Balls are tested before the game, and then they are handled by the refs until after the game ends. It's not like the Hamburgalar snuck in and deflated the balls mid game.

I wonder if the refs handling the balls has any effect on them?

Any Patriot fan calling for Bill's head because people are saying nasty things about us should probably have their head looked at.

We truly are blessed being around in this era. There is a good chance that in 10 years we may be in a 49'r style slump from the 2000's. You just never know.

Embrace the hate....people are just jealous. When we stop being relevant, they will stop hating.

If
—used to talk about the result or effect of something that may happen or be true

—used to discuss the imaginary result or effect of something that did not happen or that is or was not true

—used to say that something must happen before another thing can happen
So should we start a discussion of if you should be removed from the board if you are found to be a child molestor?
That is what you are doing here. There is absolutely no basis for this, and you are creating a discussion about what would happen in BB cheated.
Should we start another about what happens if it comes out that BB bought Hernandez the gun and ordered him to take out Lloyd?

It happened in college, which might as well not even have rules for the big programs. Please explain how it's possible in the NFL.

since the gun has never been found we cannot prove that it did not have BB's prints on it!

PV = NRT

if a ball is inflated to league minimum in a locker room temp environ then brought outside to a lower T what do you think will happen to P?

As a Pats fan, knowing that purposefully deflating balls happens (USC got fined for it a couple years ago), that it is particularly helpful in bad weather, and that the NFL has confirmed its investigating, I am betting we did it. Given Belichick's long history of pushing the edges of the rulebook, I highly doubt a couple balls just happened to get deflated in terrible weather.
And what about the ref check before the game? Sort of blows that out of the water. Even if he did, it gets checked. Which makes it unlikely he would have even bothered. But impossible it would have worked. Once the refs mark them and take them to play, it's on them. It would make more sense to say the refs deflated the balls, but for some reason that storyline isn't mentioned. Even though it would be more possible.

By more possible, I mean as opposed to the impossible story that the Pats deflated the balls and Jedi mind tricked the refs into approving the balls.

The ball air pressure should be 12.5 to 13.5 PSI.

If the pressure was measured in a 72 F room, then the balls were brought to a cold football field at approximately 32 F, the pressure of the balls all fall by approximately 1 PSI due to the temperature change. So, all the balls should be under pressure unless the refs were doing their job and inflating the balls back to the appropriate pressure range.

The math:

Air pressure is proportional to temperature in Kelvin.
72 F = 295.4 K
32 F = 273.2 K
percent change in pressure = (295.4-273.2)/295.4 x 100= 7.5%

A ball at pressure 13.5 PSI will drop 13.5 x .075= 1.01 PSI; the pressure will be less than 12.5.
Likewise, a ball at 12.5 PSI will drop 12.5 x .075=0.94; the pressure will be less than 12.5.

I hope the commissioner knows how to read and do math. I also hope he doesn't destroy evidence like he did the last time.

It's idiotic fnord. You are giving credence to the haters, you should, know, better.

Think before you speak. Officials examine and test all balls 2 hours before the game. Balls go to ball attendant (under the supervision of the NFL again). Officials handle footballs when in play under scrutiny of 70,000 fans and national television audience (as career officials, they cannot feel a ball is underinflated after handling thousands of footballs? That is like saying a master chef wouldn't know when a dish is overcooked.).

Is it more reasonable to believe a 12.5 pound inflation may have lost 0.5 pounds of pressure, or that the nefarious BB directed that result? If you say the latter, I would have to assume (1) you are a fan of another team trying to get Pats fans to agree with you (from the response, big fail on that) or (2) you believe man never landed on the moon and all the other ridiculous conspiracy theories offered. The NFL itself stated in the video posted by Galeb this action is not out of the ordinary. Get a grip.

The math is simple. The problem (and just trying to help here, not being critical) with this math, is the game time temp was 50F.

Heading to Chicago tomorrow so I think I'll wear my Patriots hat and my sweatshirt that has a giant hand with it's middle finger up. I love getting "looks" from football fans around the country!

Anything short of a confession or video evidence will not implicate the Pats in a friggin thing.

At worst there could be procedural errors which will be fixed. Hoping to hear a statement from the league confirming it soon.

So your theory is someone snuck into the ball bag and stuck a needle into the ball in order to make it softer so that the Patriots could play with a ball that was different than what they practiced with?

What is Belichick's LONG HISTORY of pushing the edges of the rule book? Please give us some examples.

If I am not mistaken his theory is that Belichick ordered it.

Tell us you really don't care what other fans think Darrone....please.

I know I don't care a bit.
