Bill Vinovich named to referee this year's Super Bowl

It will be vinovich, but NOT the same crew as last week's divisional game

Was he and his crew really that good? In my opinion they were horrible. I can't understand these decisions, just like Jerome Boger in the past SuperBowl

1. Boger was the referee 2 years ago for ravens/49ers. Not last year. Seahawks/broncos was terry mccauly

2. Don't let one questionable DPI vs the ravens fool you. Vinovich was absolutely one of the better referees this year in the regular season, which is what they are graded on to qualify I believe

He was incompetent with more than one DPI, also when Brady was poked in the eye. He also didn't handle our ineligible receivers well from neutral fans perspective. Obviously he should have given Ravens some time after annoucement of ineligible receiver, few seconds I mean. If that had happened to our team we would be furious.

1 more obstacle. In a way, cool. In a way, eventually we get to the straw the breaks our back.

The only bad dpi was the one on revis vs Steve smith at the end of the half that helped them score a touchdown. The holding on revis vs Steve smith that negated a jamie Collins strip sack was a good call. The one on browner vs t smith was unfortuanly jump ball joe at his finest, purposefully under throwing it and getting DPI on bb. By the rulebook it was a good call, mute anyways since t smith made the catch.

Besides, they are judged primarily for their regular season. And as was mentioned earlier, he wouldn't be with the same crew in the SB that he had in the ravens game

Don't forget about Gronk DPI non call when he was grabbed on 3rd down, but I see your point.

Just have to win by double digits so those pesky refs don't determine who wins the game...

Also I wonder if he will feel he owes us some calls...he should!

Sorry I didn't see this thread.. please disregard the thread I created.

Also dont forget the non call on the offensive pass interference prior to game sealing INT in the endzone

Also all the choke holds on chandler jones.

The game was horribly biased with the refs apparently only calling certain things on the patriots, and then giving the patriots a couple of ticky tack calls, and that unsportsmanlike call on the ravens dbag.

Plenty of time was given, I have read that at least 7 seconds was given on each play from announcement to snap.

He and his crew were terrible. Ninkovitch and Jones were being held on just about every play.
In addition, the Patriot's players were hit frequently after they were tackled. Brady was kneed
in the face and poked in the eye. Boys will be boys, I guess.

Remember - Vinovich most likely made none of these calls but was the one to deliver them. The supporting cast of ref's saw the play and threw the flag and those people will be changing for the SB.

^Or the lack of calls - supporting cast missed them or never called/threw the flag.

I like to get on the backs of the refs as much as the rest of you but the points of contention weren't all Bill Vinovich's calls.

Vinovich, as the head referee watches the QB for things such as RTP which granted he could have called a few times.

Holding by the OL would have been the responsibility of the Umpire, who was from Ed Hochuli's crew and he is not going to the Super Bowl.

The PI on Gronk would have been the responsibility of the Back Judge, who was from none other than Jerome Boger's crew, once again he isn't going to the Super Bowl.

If you look at Vinovich's positioning for the Brady eye poke, his view is blocked by Brady himself but there is another official who should have seen it on the other side of the pile in.
