The ineligible package...

Which resulted in an unsportsmanlike from Harbaugh (15 yards) which put us on their 5.

Which resulted in the Gronk TD.

So, pretty significant.

It was a 15 yard penalty, but the ball was on the 10 yard line at the time so in reality, it was a 5 yard penalty. Important but not as significant as if it were a 15 yard penalty.

I don't know if it's been mentioned or if it wasn't audible on the TV broadcast, but by the third time the ref announced number 34 as ineligible, he added "The defense does not have to cover number 34". It was very very obvious. The refs were telling the Ravens' defense what they needed to do. Complaining about it because your players can't understand the ref's words is just sour grapes.

Could a similar play to this happen when the ineligible receiver goes back and catches a lateral? Technically he won't be receiving a forward pass.

I hate babies. The rules are there. Any damn fool can read them. Boo hoo, Coach Harbaugh.

This is exactly why I love me some BB. He wins. Who cares about making sure the Ravens know the rules ? Not his job. Deceptive ? Who cares ? Let's win.

You know who's - by all accounts - a first rate, classy guy in football ? Rod Marinelli. 0-16. So you want classy gentlemen or winners ? I want the winner. I want the guy who pounds Joe Gibbs in the face and makes no apologies. Screw you, Ravens. Seriously. This kind of manure is what drives me crazy. I DO NOT CARE about feelings, bullying, cry babies in the NFL. Win. Everything else is irrelevant.

Somebody spoon feed me on this point. Vereen actually is ineligible on that play because he's not on the end and he's not lined up off the line, right? The only reason the notifying the ref thing happens is that his number is one of the automatically could be eligible variety, right? And so the only thing that would confuse the defense is that Vereen would typically be eligible, right? If you know the rules of formation, he's not eligible on that play.

Do I have it right?

As AJ said, yes, but the second part of the deception was just as important - having Hooman (who has an automatically eligible number) line up appearing like he was the LT in a normal five man OL formation. As soon as Vereen declared ineligible, this required the Ravens D to actually think 'hey, who is actually eligible and are they covered ?', which they never figured out until Harbaugh ran on to the field. The most amazing thing about this is that it worked more than once - it completely relied on the stupidity of the D.

And I don't think Harbaugh exactly figured it out either - he thought they were doing something illegal in the formation the the refs weren't seeing, else he wouldn't have felt justified to run on to the field. The unsportsmanlike conduct was the icing on the cake, and apart from the last Flacco int, was a huge part of their loss because it put the Pats at the 5 for the TD.

This is the type of deep deception, relying on the enemies preconceptions and anticipating their response to what you show them is similar to how most great military minds have been successful (Lee) - and that is no hyperbole.

The way he was lined up covered up it was obvious he was ineligible.

Great read

But it was very clear that the ref pointed at the defense and told them Vareen was ineligilbe. Guys on defense were not paying attention.

I guess I can finally admit how guilty I feel whenever the Patriots run play action. It's just so dishonest. They act like they are going to run but then pass. Hopefully Harbaugh can get that banned as well.

One other point...I think it is garbage that defensive players continually catch passes that QB's are throwing to their own players. It is very unsportsmanlike and I have been a frequent critic of this deceitful tactic.

Are there any good people out there anymore?

He lost.

Espn has an article up. Says the patriots did nothing wrong. Harbough should have called a timeout. At the bottom of the article, however, is this nugget:
The Patriots' reputation as NFL rule-pushers, punctuated by their 2007 discipline for videotaping opponents practices, surely has played a role in Sunday's swelling emotions.
Unreal. So tired of this ****. It is posted on Reiss' blog.

EDIT: I see they've now adjusted that part to say they filmed opponents illegally. Wonder who said something?

Well put. He's obviously not throwing it to them.

I disagree. I watched it again and Vinovich was clearly saying "watch number 34, he went to the University of California. I know his family."

Yes. I believe that was plan a expecting the ravens would not put a man in him

The play is in the Madden or NCAA video games

If this is real and not another Internet fake? If real it is hysterical.
A play Harbaugh is whining and moaning about has never been done before and is cheating, this play is callable on a popular video game?? LMAO.....

I assume you are talking about Lee, not Harbaugh. Lee took an ill equipped army that was outnumbered 3-1 and prosecuted a war that lasted four years and killed more Americans than all other wars before or since. When he was finally stopped, he was on offense invading the North.

He was fighting in a doomed cause, but he was certainly the most gifted military mind of his generation.

all this proves is that you can cheat on video games

Annoying as he11...taped NFL GameDay Morning and was looking forward to watching great highlights of the game and instead all the time went on them talking about this one play.

Later @RapSheet cam on to straighten everyone on the panel out saying they announced it IN THE STADIUM. After this there was not one more word said about the game, and certainly none about the eye poke.

I always love Game Day Morning and I sure hope they are not turning their agenda into the ESPN of their sport.

What a waste of DVR space...
