I think the Pats used up all their tricks

never discount BB's ability to add a new wrinkle. Plus, the D seemed fairly vanilla and there was no ground game so BB probably has a few tricks left in his bag.

TD pass to Jamie Collins or Chandler Jones is something I wondered about last year

I believe I made a thread on it last year. Asking who could be the next "Mike Vrabel" for us

This.

Every opponent is different, and the matchups/situations will all evolve after New England finds out who is coming to town next weekend. In addition, who plays, who is inactive, etc, will depend upon many things, including who is inactive on the other team, what the weather conditions are, etc.

So many variables.

And a toolbox and team character where we can finally take our pick of attack - on offense and defense. This is BB hog heaven. Of course it can all fail at any point... but so far, so good :)

This is not saying now the Patriots can't win the next 2 games cause i think they can.

However ask yourself how many tricks can the Patriots have left. They were behind and desperately trying everything to win that game. Once you break out the 4 OL formation I would guess you have probably used everything you have.

You can argue they have something left but that is arguing you felt during the game being behind 14 two times they felt they had the opportunity to save something. I do not think they felt that way at all.
Patriots never use tricks to begin with. The 4 OL thing was probably game planned unless we had a big lead. There are other uses of it too.

This game (and the last 2 of the regular season) was against a brick wall front 7.

Whoever wins the Den-Indy game will see plenty of Messrs. Blount/Gray/Fleming/Cannon and Maneri next week.

This is classic Patriots Offense Game Plan Shape Shifting Mode.

The funny this is how the entire "trickery" of the "ineligible receiver" could had easily been averted the 1st time be the Ravens calling a TO once they saw something "odd" in the set up. They didn't and their coach is such a dolt that we went back to it not 1 time, but 2 more friggen times before they caught wind of it. I bet 1/2 to 3/4 of the teams out there wouldn't have been fooled at all. They would have seen the "odd" look, called a TO and had time to adjust. Barely trickery.... just taking advantage of an idiot.

That's easy...Nink

He is saving the "fumblerooski", "fake punt", "Hail Mary" and " WR double reverse" for the Superbowl...

Or if you believe that there will be nothing worthwhile to watch, do not watch the game..

That's OK, if they get the Colts all they have to do is run off tackle all day anyways.

Raven fans saying our legacy should be tarnished because we needed "trick plays" to beat them.

Ravens going full Steeler fan. You never go full Steeler fan.

Typical loser speak.

Losers always want to make themselves feel better about themselves because of the fact that they are losers.

Considering we aren't a trick style offense, not having anymore tricks doesn't really hurt us. But using the ones we used yesterday will hopefully put some paranoia in opposing defenses game plans.

I think the OP was right though, Belichick was almost certainly down to his last two trick plays before the game and now he is out. No more trick plays for the Patriots, ever, coach is out of them.

I'D love to see Collins catching a TD around the goal line!!

I would too, but anyone else notice he didn't exactly have "soft" hands on that pass play break up against their FB? I mean if he'd played that any better and you'd think he was the intended receiver on that play, but the ball didn't just bounce from his hands...it kind of ran away screaming...

Gee, what a lovely thread. What "tricks" would you have said they had before that game? You, like John Harbaugh, probably assumed you had seen it all. But you hadn't. So it stands to reason you wouldn't be able to guess at anything else they might be working on.

I did assume they were probably working on some trick plays over the year they save for the post season like most teams do. If you are asking me to guess what tricks they have I would have no idea. That is why they are called trick plays after all.

If that's the case, they can always make new tricks.

Indeed. But you need to practice them a lot to make sure you can execute them. They said they have been practicing those 2 plays (4 OL and Edelman pass) all year. I think trying to throw together a trick play in a week or 2 is not a good idea generally.

I did not imply ever. I implied this year. You can always do trick plays but you need to practice them a lot before you do them. I think they very likely used all the plays they practiced this year in this game.

So you think they have 2?

Doesn't matter as a win is a win. They fell for them and it was fair and square. Sour grapes.

Oh that trick will stick in opposing teams heads for awhile. Changes how they defend.

Never implied it would not. These plays will have an effect going forward into other games as now they must be respected.
