DEFENSIVE END

Chandler Jones -- 77 of 77
Rob Ninkovich -- 76 of 77
Akeem Ayers -- 1 of 77

Is it just me, or is anyone else disappointed with Chandler's play last night? He was facing an UDFA rookie LT and really could've changed the game around for us. 100 year old James Harrison was giving this LT fits, what's the deal?

Could any argument be made to play Ayers over him? I'm still shocked Jones didn't go off last night.

Also, Ninkovich was facing a 4x All-Pro OL in Marshal Yanda. I think he deserves a pass.

Yup. I said in the post game thread that Chandler is looking overrated compared to what people claim he is.
All the time we hear "the Patriots best pass rusher" and rarely do I actually see real pressure.

Not knocking him as a bad player or a bust by any stretch, but if he was the elite pass rusher people say he is, why does every QB we face have hours in the pocket?

There were zero ... ZERO ... holding calls last night. Step off the ledge.

Yea. In the past I've been critical of Chandler's lack of a diverse set of pass rush moves but even if you put Lawrence Taylor on one side and Charles Haley on the other, Brady and Flacco still would have plenty of time to throw.

You didn't hear Solder or Vollmer's name last night either.

getting owned by some rookie is embarrassing. hoping chandler plays better next week.

To be fair, James Hurst was only a UDFA because he missed almost all his final year because of a serious injury. Before the season started, he was getting first round grades.

Chandler Jones blows hot and cold. At times he can look unstoppable, at other times he barely affects the game. I certainly hope for a clean year injury wise next year and a step up in performance.

Chandler also looks like he's playing a LOT lighter than he was pre-injury. I think his power might be a little sapped from the weight loss. I expect him to get that back this offseason. He's just as athletic when he plays heavier so it's a detriment for him to cut weight IMO.

Against a bigger guy like Hurst he got controlled. Hurst is pretty wide and he looked strong, so he had little chance of going through him. He did have some success going around him with the speed rush, but he was limited in his attack. I wouldn't have minded seeing more Ayers at times.

Jones didn't have a good game, but i think he got held so much and it never got called. I would've liked to see him share some snaps with Ayers, or maybe Ninko come off for Ayers sometimes. Ayers is a good player and could've helped yesterday imo. Gotta rotate those guys to keep em fresh. Can't have Jones play every single snap.

Ayers playing time has gone wayyyyyyy down since Jones came back .. Is that really what is best for the team? I don't think so ... Ayers would bring the heat .. Jones is .. MEH .. Same move, Same rush ..

Thought we would see all 3 on the field in passing situations. Pretty frustrating to watch Siliga and Branch chasing around QBs

I like it when the zebras let the game play out and I realize that oline holding happens a lot and it doesn't get called, but some of the non calls on the Ravens last night was pretty blatant. I saw a handful of calls where Jones was practically being choked trying to get to Flacco. Not to mention there were a few illegal hands to the face non calls on the ravens Oline.

I think Ayers is productive and wish there was a way to get him on the field. But Jones is a better player so its hard to justify. If they could rotate Ayers in, maybe Jones could be fresher. But either way, I thought we were getting held all game and that certainly makes it harder on the pass rusher - to say the least.

I was disappointed to not see Ayers more, I'm beginning to think Jones is overrated. At this point of his career he should be dominant and he clearly is not.

There is a lot of extreme in this thread - - either 'no problem with Chandler and Nink last night' or Chandler is way overrated and stunk out the joint'.

I'm somewhere in the middle - - what I saw was (like last year, but because there was no alternative last year) Chandler and Nink being overused and Ayers not being brought in enough for them to give them breathers. There should be a rotation just so they don't wear down.

Nink, in particular did a crappy job last night not setting the edge at all. He looked like he was running underwater.

Instead of Chandler and Nink playing 77 out of 77 snaps, how 'bout each get around 65 out of 77 and Ayers get around 24? Surely there were a few 3rd and longs where he could have come in for Nink.

Were Jones/Ninkovich protecting the edge because of Flacco's mobility?? One of the reasons he had so much time was that the receivers were all covered...

BB always gives the team something, while taking something else...

Breaking news we won!!! It was a great win, but in the parallel universes of talk radio and internet message boards are inundated with what they could have done better... they won!!! Came back from 14 points down twice...

seriously....calling CJ overrated?!? He was working his butt off trying to get to Flacco. Ravens O-Line just played a hell of a game. Games like this reminded why the Pats drafted Easly...they need pass rush from the middle of the line.

You watched to much supercross last night. CJ is our best pass rusher.

Pretty sure nobody could get a sack with "blocking" like that.
