It's usually a bit early for this, but I thought this was interesting:
Former Georgia Tech running back Synjyn Days went from quarterback to A-back to B-back over the course of his four seasons with the Yellow Jackets. The position switches may help him get a better shot at the NFL.

At the Medal of Honor Bowl workouts in Charleston, S.C., Days said he was able to adjust to playing tailback in a pro-style offense in preparation for Saturday’s game at the Citadel.

“I didn’t have any concerns,” he said. “My career at Georgia Tech, I’ve been in a lot of situations and been able to maneuver my way through different positions and be pretty successful at the positions I’ve played. I’ve just felt like that kind of prepared me for being in a situation where I can kind of play anything. Playing tailback, I was actually more excited to play tailback than B-back.”

Days said he had spoken with about 15 NFL scouts who gave him positive feedback and said they were looking forward to see him perform at Tech’s pro day. Days said a New England Patriots scout told him he wanted to run him through a private workout after the pro day.

“Of course it’s a lot different than the triple-option offense, but I’m enjoying it a lot,” Days said. “All the coaches and all the scouts are saying they like seeing me at tailback.”

Days said drills and techniques he learned at Tech with quarterbacks and B-backs coach Bryan Cook, graduate assistant Steven Sylvester and former Tech fullback Mike Cox, who has returned to campus to complete his degree, were similar to those he has practiced at the all-star workouts.

It has been a fortuitous senior season for Days, who began camp at A-back but was moved to B-back during the preseason. He finished with a flourish, recording four 100-yard rushing games in the final seven games of the season, including 171 yards against Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl.

Days is listed as 6' 0 1/2" 232# by CBS Sports/NFLDraftscout. In Georgia Tech's triple option offense, the B-back is a key position - a hybrid FB/RB/H-Back position, in which a combination of blocking ability, receiving ability and fast cut running ability is ideal. As one writer notes: "In any option/flexbone type offense, the B-back is the cog that makes everything move forward. Generally, you look for someone with the size, strength and blocking ability of a typical fullback, but with the speed and cuts that you’d see from a tailback."

Intriguing guy as a late round pick or UDFA. A big back who can block and receive would be a welcome addition to the offense.

Hopefully he also told whoever from the Pats was working him out to check out film of DeAndre Smelter.

And Shaq Mason, the best technician at OG in this draft.

Draft Breakdown recently put up a Synjyn Days video up which I watched for Mason (wow by the way), but as soon as I saw Days was 230lb, I pencilled him in as someone to check later.

Just checked out that Days video against NC State. Mason looks interesting; kid plays like an animal. Only complaint I have is that he seems to lead with his head and lunge quite a bit.

And dives at the feet of defensive linemen a lot too which I think is part of the blocking scheme. He's also undersized but he makes advantage of that really well by winning the leverage battle. And I love how he flies out of his stance and gets to the second level and he's really good at combination blocks as well.

The way I see it, both our OGs need to be upgraded depending upon how they see Cam Fleming but at the same time time, you can't really start two rookie OGs. So I think they should draft a LG in rounds one or two (Scherff, Collins, Erving for example) and then draft Mason late day three who probably sits behind Wendell with a view to replacing Wendell the following year.

If this is the case Erving makes most sense, since he would be backup center also if needed. If you remove Connelly and Wendell you missing the NeXT man up otherwise.

I've said consistently that if we can't get Fowler, Clemmings, Scherff, Collins then Erving is my next favourite choice. Max Williams was up there too but I'm starting to think Jean Sifrin might be good late round value.

Still, Erving-Maxx Williams-Odighizuwa/Hardison/Crawford is still probably my favourite way to come out of the top three rounds (A trade up from 64 for Williams).

Last year Ameer Abdullah tweeted to Alfonzo Dennard relating to tell the Patriots to draft me, has literally no affect at this point but just found interesting

Unfortunately Dennard might not be here next year.

Agreed, loved that guy since his rookie year, I once thought he was one of the top #2 CBs in the game and was a top 20 CB, even potential to one day be a star #1 CB, my feelings changed over the past year and a half, his play changed late last year and this year he just fell off, seems like BB is done with him but I hope he gets a shot and stars somewhere else, I'll thank him for becoming a key piece in an evolving secondary (arrived 3 years after Arrington, few months before Talib, few months before McCourty switched to FS))

You can never have enough corners in this league.

That being said however, it is still tough to imagine denard coming back.

Big RJ Harris guy. Saw him live taking in 3 home UNH games this year. It was hard to spot much else being in a throng of 6500 hammered college kids while watching out for an 8 year old. Hope he get's a looksee.

Good stuff manx. My brain needs a break from all this other garbage. LOVED that interveiw with Nick Marshall. You know he's smart being a QB and making the transition to CB is absolutely unheard of. He's on my radar now. A scout being a little down on Sammie Coates doesn't surprise me, such a great class last year you have to figure the scrutiny is intensified on this years class. Still looks like a great player, but apologies Mel Kiper, I don't see NE spending a 1st on him. Can you believe that guy makes millions doing that job? You'd be just as good as him anyday (and twice on Saturday;)). SMH.:)

That Nick Marshall kid sounded just like Troy Brown, I swear. Just his voice and the way he talks. Almost uncanny. Clemmings seems like he'd be out of our reach at #32 (Seachickens are dead, foregone conclusion now;)). One of the very few I would say pull the trigger and trade up for though. Aaron Donald was a guy last year, but I knew it was unrealistic. Hopefully Easley comes back strong as ever because he's in the very same mold.

"This threat"

Wow! I'm not threatening anyone :)

Your welcome. It's both the most enjoyable thread of the year for me, and also the most frustrating.
