Harbaugh keeps using the word "DECEPTION" during his Press conference

This "deception" proves unequivocally that, contrary to Mr. Harbuagh's claims the night before the game, the New England Patriots did INDEED know what kind of game they were getting into, and it was the RAVENS who did not!

So let me know if I understand this.

We go in with 4 lineman, and Vareen says "Yo, I'm ineligible!"

Then Brady goes "HIKE MOTHER F***ERS!"

Then our TE runs a route from the tackle position for some Patriots ownage?

That it in a nutshell?

The only 'DECEPTION' I saw in the game was the no PI call on Brady's pass to Gronk.

I mean...WTF!!

Reporter: "So John, when the Competition Committee looks at this as you've suggested, should they also look at how your team has been exploiting the rules to draw more DPI penalties than any other team in the league for 5 of the last 6 years?"

John: "Uh.................. no that's smart football; playing within the rules"

Before tonight, I for some reason had some modicum of respect for Harbaugh. I guess I respected their dominance of us the past few years in the playoffs, and expected post-game comments to follow a "great rivalry, they win this round" kind of vibe.

For him to throw a tantrum about HIS ignorance of the rules is ludicrous. I redact my previous post about Peyton Manning being my most hated team. Nothing can compare to this stain of an organization.

Play action is deception. Same with sending a man in motion. I guess it's just what level you coach/play at.

Everyone uses the cliche 'situational football.' It's more like 'specific football.' Belichick just knows more than Harbaugh.

It wouldn't be a Ravens loss without some butthurt loser complaining that the refs were to blame.

Professional whiners and accountability-shirkers down in Baltimore

Somehow I though he might have more character than his brother Jim too. I should have known better.

Yup, that pretty much covers it. Although the refs were explicitly telling the Ravens not to cover Vereen, harbaugh is arguing that the refs should have stood over the ball for longer after declaring Vereen ineligible, so that the Ravens would have more time to adjust.

Only the Ravens can knee QBs when they're down, poke them in the eye after QB sneaks, and fish for PI flags all day, then cry about the injustices of the game afterwards. Totally pathetic.

Ravens so fun to send home for the season.

I lost all respect for him when he said the Pats SBs were tainted, then basically said "lol jk" a couple days later.

This is why the Ravens are a dumb organization.

Before the game: yap yap yap yap FLACCO DA GOAT
After the loss: whine whine whine whine YOU OUT SCHEMED ME

That's why we shouldn't bother discussing anything they have to say. All excuses. They know the people they are making the excuses to will by into them, because they hate the Patriots themselves. Just laugh at them or lick the tears off their cheeks (if that's your thing).

!@#$'em

I'm beyond glad that we beat them the way we did but I don't think Harbaugh was classless.

It really is something the league hasn't seen before and Harbuagh did whatever he had to to stop it. I respect that.

It was deception. Deceit. We mislead them intentionally, that is the definition of deception. They had no idea who to cover and who to ignore, but the refs DID tell them, they just didn't react in time. We won the matchups, because our coaching and execution was superior.

We knew the rules better than they did. That's not illegal. Harbaugh basically admitted we had more knowledge than they did when he said they didn't know who to cover. Thanks for the compliment.

Harbaugh complemented our team and coaching staff indirectly.

He's easily one of the NFL's best and he was outclassed on this day. BB and his crew say thanks.

I just watched this part. It's hard to hear because Colinsworth is talking. But I believe I hear the ref say Number 34 is ineligible. I believe he repeats it twice but it's really hard to hear.

The Ravens clearly got skooled. Harbaugh just can't handle it.

Deion Sanders and Ladainian Tomlinson said it was the Ravens own fault and if they didn't know who to cover they should have called a time out. Deion even said they were just crying because they lost.

iam sure the competition commitee will do somthing weird in off season to prevent this
That's how you know you are innovating effectively.

Yep, and the refs went as far as specifically saying over the PA "DO NOT COVER #34" or whoever it was reporting as ineligible.

Luckily for us, the Ravens team is too dumb in general to understand the rules. But that's why the Pats did something like this. Take advantage of a teams weakness, like being filled with dumb players.
This is actually the issue. One team prioritizes intelligence and the other aggression. Both approaches can be successful, but one has the unfortunate side effect of leaving your team exposed to losing games on account of trick plays and losing players to domestic abuse issues.

My favorite part is that he was *****ing about it saying it was deception that no one had ever seen, and then the perennial pats hater Suggs basically just said it was another play, nothing he hadn't seen before and that there was nothing wrong with it.

But according to Matt Chatham, Vereen was announced, so Harbaugh really doesn't have a leg to stand on with that claim..
Agreed. I dont know the rules etc as some of the others do so my only assumption is that when a player declares himself eligible he tells the ref before he goes in the huddlle (?). Pats flipped it around and messed with their WR and TEs declaring the other way after the huddle(this is what I think harbaugh means, not sure). So they break huddle, declare who is not eligible and go. As the link patspulpit points out,its not too dissimilar to what chip kelly did last yr and pats made an improvisation on it.
For harbaugh's sake I wish he had taken the day , watched film and seen the rules and make a more informed statement instead of using unfortunate choice of words.

Any body else heard that SOB? He said no one has ever seen such a thing in the history of this game, when asked about the penalty in the fits half where he went yelling onto the field ..

Deception has always been part of the game. BB just brings it to a new level. Frankly, I'm thrilled that BB used the rule book to fool his opponent. As someone pointed out, it's really no different than Flacco throwing deep balls to get PI calls.

I like when BB introduces new ideas into the game. That said, I can't blame Harbaugh for being annoyed -- after all, he was outsmarted and it cost him I think 29 yards (a 15 yard penalty on him and 14 yard pass completion as a result of the rule book inspired trick play.)
