OFFICIAL POST-GAME THREAD - PATS v. Ravens

This thread should be labeled "Post Game I Have 8 Lives Left Thread".

8 lives? I think I USED eight lives for that game.

I'm glad we won but I NEVER want to play the Baltimore Ravens in the postseason EVER again!!!

Like most, I feel like I need several drinks after that. Too tense.

That said, want to salute some of the players/coaches whom we've been criticizing for a long time but who really came through today:

1. JMcD - that switch to the quick hitter O was timed and executed perfectly. It allowed us to take the steam out of the Ravens pass rush when we lost the guys on the interior.

2. Solder/Seabass/Kline/Wendell/Connolly - held up when we needed them. Great job by the tackles today in negating the "unstoppable" forces of Thuggs and Dumbervil.

3. Amendola - what more can we say? Although if he hadn't recovered that fumble we might have had a different perspective.

4. Safeties - Harmon, McCourty and Chung came up big when our corners did not.

5. Special Teams - this was an area where Baltimore is one of the few teams that has an advantage over us. We negated Jacoby Jones with those high kickoffs and never got in trouble in the punting game - anyone who watched that special teams atrocity between Carolina and Arizona would hopefully now understand how important that is.

On the downside, a disappointing day from the Matt Patricia, the D-line and linebackers.

The Browner "penalty" below. No way Browner has that much make-up speed to catch up and make contact... and neither does Smith have any reason to slow down like that. Although it was a nice catch and would've counted anyway with no flag.

I guess my point is that 1) I hate how these Ravens WRs are basically trained to draw pass interference penalties. No doubt they practiced this. 2) Refs made sure Ravens got every beneficial call or no-call.

Thats a GD hipcheck...

Patriots got very lucky on several fumbles today. Kinda like the Giants in one of those two February games i've (mostly) blocked from my memory.

first time in NFL history team has come back from 14+ down...twice IIRC...WOW

Check out this photo from NFL.com(I posted it during the game thread). It's possible Ch Jones is being held there:

This is why the Revis call was BS. There was a 'let them play' going on most of the game and all over the field. Great! I like it. Call only the obvious penalties. I like that kind of Ref-ing in general. But if you select a play like's Revis play to not 'let them play' then it makes the Refs total BS. That is WAY too much yards and WAY too big of a play for that kind of contact in a 'let them play game'

If they don't call the Revis PI or holding, I am fine with the gronk non call, even though it was completely obvious, I'm still good with it. Keep the flag unless your sure and it was obvious.
I believe that Lame F_ _k ref called both Revis penalties (I could be wrong). I guess he only wanted to let them play only sometimes and only if not Revis (Revis holding was occurring too frequently on both sides for it to be called)

Has Flacco earned any respect around here or is he still just Fluke-O

At least from me, he has. Mistake at the end for sure, but he most surely did not crap his pants in this game unlike someone else...

If you save your best football for the postseason, you're doing it right. Unlike someone else...

Amendola clutch in the playoffs unlike Wes

If you only spend the time to prepare properly in the post season, it shows.

The Gronk hold was atrocious...Jamie Dukes calls it OK because Gronk had a black sleeve on and it hid the DB's hand...jeezus krist what a ****in' douchebag.

Looks like a "choke hold". Is that legal in the NFL?

I love Revis. Saying Steve Smith got "erased" down stretch :D love it

Basically Revis isn't allowed to breathe on Steve Smith but it's okay for the Raven's OT to apply Ted Dibiase's million dollar dream on Chandler Jones
