With no score midway through the first quarter, the Patriots were in the Baltimore red zone. A reverse to Aaron Hernandez got New England to the Ravens’ 12 yard line, and they were facing third-and-2. For weeks, the Patriots had been taking advantage of defenses not ready for the extreme up-tempo offense, picking up easy yards in critical situations. They tried it this time as well, hurrying to the line and snapping the ball quickly to Tom Brady who handed to Stevan Ridley. No gain. The Patriots settled for a field goal. The 12-play drive gave them the lead but it felt empty. Rushed.
I hope we line up properly and run the ball instead of trying the cute stuff. We have tried it many times this year.

That hurry up play works only with Roy Finch

Expecting Ravens to use the fake injury like they always do. I suppose we can't complain too much....I think we were the ones to start it with Willie Mac.

the quick run on short yardage doesn't seem as effective.
if anything, let brady sneek....that never fails!:D ( unless tommy boy fumbles the snap )

If they know Pees is spending a lot of time on the hurryup, they'll do other things. They can still pull it later, after they've moved on the defense. It's simply a matter of executing. They were ready for one run in the hurryup. so what?

Turn and look for the ball, Tom.

Yawn.. Another one of these articles. Don't you guys get depressed constantly reading about how your team isn't good enough?

I guess they need to write about something.

No matter the play call, they still have to execute. and the Ravens are pretty darn good (on defense) when they can predict what an offense is going to do (then again, most defenses are).

I think the Dean Pees thing is exaggerated, he was here 5 years ago and our personnel has pretty much turned over. Brady is also changed his game since then.. he might know tendencies, but any really good defensive coordinator can study film and speak to others who know this team well..

FFS. You'd think the Ravens were 8-3 not 3-8 against the Patriots given the rubbish storylines of the week.

Yeh I'm done with all these articles, all these guys writing how the Ravens will limit the Pats yet the Pick the Pats to win, bunch of idiots. I don't buy into any of this since Pees has been gone for so long. Different teams this year.

2-9, must have accidently counted the 2012 reg season game as a ravens win.

too bad dean pees doesn't know how to stop eli manning

Eh? This link shows it as 8-3 (unless it's mistaken). Further to the point, in recent years, the Patriots are 3-3 against the Ravens. It's not exactly a beat down.

This is pretty much right on the Mark, Darryl. Any good DC, with access to all the data on the Pats knows the best way to stop the Pats offense. Hell, we've all read the various "blueprints" that are constantly talked about. So I guess so do we. ;)

Pees DOES probably have a better feel for what the Pats like to do in certain situations because of years with NE. He also knows how to speak the "language" which MIGHT give him a slight edge over most coaches. But in the end, a past association with the Pats that's over half a decade old, is not going to be the reason his defense is going to be successful or not.

In my opinion, what the Ravens do, might work for the first 2 or 3 series. But I'm confident that after the Pats have figured it out, the offense will get rolling., Its only a surprise once.

BTW- the ONLY thing I'm nervous about is the coin toss. I REALLY want the Ravens to get the ball first.
