Anyone Else Really Nervous?

I think the team is confident. We have an excellent defense that can shut down Flacco and company (not contain, but shut down). We are healthy going into this battle. The cold weather at home with Big balls Brady and a healthy Gronk will be able to march down the field. This is a rivalry game, but i think we have a lot more weapons in this game then in previous ones.

Welcome to the board. What's your guess for the final score?
Ha, you know, every time I guess it blows up in my face. With that said, I think it will take 25-30 points to win. I'm a realist so my feeling is we've played you guys really well in the playoffs and its a matter of time till you guys lay a beat down on us. So if recent history continues, we'll hold up fine, if the latter happens it could be ugly for us. How's that for a guess? Ok, my heart says 24-21 Ravens, my nightmares say Pats 38-13. I think if its a three point game at the half we will pull it out. If you guys come out on fire it will be over at half time.

Straw man. Never said you weren't allowed to feel nervous. Who am I? Stalin? I just don't understand the nervous emotion before a game. Maybe that might just be me. I was always excited before a big game, whether it was football, hoops, or baseball. I honestly can't remember ever getting nervous.

You may not have came out and said the word "allowed," but since you said, "Are any of you nervous fans actually playing the game?" one would assume that means, in my own opinion, "You can't be nervous unless you're a player." Or was that a serious question? Knowing full well none of us are on the team. Not attacking you, but that's what I got from your comment.

Anyway, I've been nervous for a lot of things, whether I was an active participant or just a spectator, and I'm sure many others here have, too.

I feel nervous every game. I am frustrated because the Ravens will pressure Brady every play
and the Patriots will allow Flacco time to floss his teeth before has to pass. Belichick will defer
a winning coin toss every time and the opponents will drive down field for the lead score. Worse
still may be if the Ravens defer and McDaniels is pressured into coming up with workable plays
right off the bat. I predict two stuffed runs for zero yards and an 80 yard incomplete pass to
Matthew Slater. Hopefully, we are still in the game at halftime. Maybe our defense can make
the difference this year.

Why anybody would be nervous is beyond me. Are any of you nervous fans actually playing in the game?

It's actually pretty easy to see why fans are nervous. If we win I will get immense enjoyment. Its the exact same with any investment.

I think its the fact of sudden death for the season with a loss that causes it. After investing 6 months of time and energy into your team of choice, and it ends immediately... Well, that should help calm you down. Lol

I'm always really nervous. More nervous I am, the better they do. Well, usually. 2 SBs didn't go so well and I was very nervous.

Anything can happen. I predicted a pats blowout of the ravens........I can only hope.

As to WHY? Well, I've slowly built up my hopes from the beginning of theyear "hope it's a good year" to the thought they could go all the way. So it'll be either continued excitement or utter dejection. That makes me nervous.

"Nervous? ... Sounds amusing. Please define 'nervous'."

I get nervous for every playoff game.

This isn't the NBA or the MLB, or NHL. this is the NFL one and done. there are NO easy games left indy, balt, den are all GOOD teams. Seattle, Dallas, GreenBay are all GOOD teams. Carolina is the weakest team left, and there is very little chance we see them, but they are still not an easy win.

so yeah, I'm nervous, but thats what makes football great.

I am a bit but not REALLY nervous...we got a good team now don't forget....people have been talking a lot about our secondary but our linebackers are coming along great and Jones seems healthy, Nink pretty much always plays well...we got a good team man....

Nervous the Patriots are going to lose and have their sports-hearts broken again seems pretty reasonable.

I'm annoyed

The Pats have all the business opening up a can of whoop ass on the Ravens

no scheming 'around'......scheme 'through'

smash that bunch of cackling chickens in the face......the Pats are bigger, the Pats are stronger, the Pats are faster

enough of this nonsense......for the Ravens, it ends tomorrow

I'd have no problems with Browner blowin someone up on the very first passing play screw the 15 yards....show the ravens who is boss and who is *****

right from the very beginning

ive never been more nervous for a playoff game. I feel like if we win this game we are going to the super bowl. The colts and broncos are weak. If we win this game we will blow doors next week IMO.

Just have a really weird feeling right now... Happy I'm going to the game... Makes me less nervous than watching it on TV.

All signs point to the pats but this "relying on defense" Is new to me and a weird feeling.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm always nervous about games, but this game is making me more nervous because;
1 - It's been ten years since our last SB party.
2 - With a loss the Ravens could take over as the top team in the AFC. That would be horrible.
3 - A loss to the Ravens would also open the door to the blue/neon green elephant that's sitting in the room. I don't trust anyone else but the Pats to be able to slay that beast.
4 - The Brady/Blechick window will close just a bit more.

Were you confident before super bowl 42? That game is probably as relevant as the 2012 AFC game.

I was as confident back then as I am now. The witnesses are the Pats fans who argued with me about the team's chances. I still give them grief about it.

I am always nervous before every game. Especially in the one in done situations. These game matter a lot, we are nearing the end of the Brady window.

I think the Patriots are going to win, but the truth is that they absolutely can lose as well. That is why they play the games and that is what makes it so exciting!

Lets GO! Pats By Double Digits!

Nervous? Nah. Excited? Yup.

I'd rather risk being disappointed after the fact. No need to do it pre-emptively.

I'm neither overly confident nor nervous, just excited.

It's actually pretty easy to see why fans are nervous. If we win I will get immense enjoyment. Its the exact same with any investment.

I agree, except with the example you provided.

Losing an investment is a real loss, be it a $1 or more. In addition, it can be emotional too depending on how much it affects your confidence, especially if you spent a lot of time evaluating and justifying the investment.

Whereas, dealing with a favourite team's loss is purely emotional.

Looks like some of the fans questioning how others can be nervous don't realize that being nervous is ~ being anxious.

It is beyond me why they think that it is not normal to be anxious when someone close to the heart is about to do something important. (In fact, I would argue that it is more normal than taking a dump when nervous. ;))

I am excited when the Pats play and confident that they will win (never mind the times I fling stuff at my TV yelling that they deserve to lose if our O splutters or our D gives up big yards) but do feel nervous before every game, especially the playoffs when it is now one and done.

In this upcoming playoff game, I am concerned about Dan Pees familarity with Brady and our OL, but do think that we will easily have a double-digit victory.

GO PATS!!
