Thank you to the Patriot organization for giving me a 2nd chance and keeping me around for a couple more. Truly blessed!! Word can't express

Another player BB turned to gold this year. He played some solid ball here way back when and I even liked Chung when he was struggling, so it has been great to see him rebound this year and build a career here.

He has played pretty well this season. I'm still nervous when he has to cover tight ends, but overall, I thnk he has been a great addition to the secondary, especially in run support. Let's hope Revis and McCourty are next to resign :)

I think they can hide Chungs weaknesses with Revis on the team. Occasionally he gets matched up with TEs in coverage and it can be an adventure but for the most part he doesn't get exposed.

Chung had a comeback year and Bolden had some nice special teams tackles. Miguel noted
Boyce and Fleming were signed thru 2015 when signed from the practice squad. The Patriots
are nibbling away at the easy signees. If they win Saturday, they will have more time to work
on some others.

Low cost insurance policies and core Special Teams players. Strange to say but not bad at all.

Would be great to keep this secondary together that's a good amount less than I had believed he would get.
Hopefully Mccourty and Revis follow suit.
Would be great to keep this secondary together.

Extend Revis and McCourty and the Pats have a top 3 secondary for the next 2+ years. Revis, Browner and Arrington and CB with McCourty and Chung at S plus our depth will be very, very solid.

Good for them. I'm surprised Bolden stuck around. He seemed like a guy who might be able to find more playing time elsewhere, but I guess he understands who he is and what he does well.

I honestly am surprised at the Bolden extension. The guy is a penalty machine on special teams.. Yes, he had the one blocked punt that put SD's punter out for the season, but that's been it. Otherwise he's been wildly inconsistent and mediocre..

I would have rathered them use the money to extend Ayers since I can see Ayers taking over for Ninkovich in a year or two..
Bolden has gotten a number of penalties it seems but has not been mediocre. He's been solid and also delivered the shot that made Tate cough up the ball and led to Arringtons TD against Cinci. And could easily have blocked a second punt that instead turned into a Edelman punt return TD. I'm sure he's also done some of the little things that we don't take notice of. Clearly they valued him well as a ST guy.

Chung vs the Jets version is not what i want to see Saturday

Congratulations to Patrick Chung for staying focused and working hard despite a setback in Philadelphia. Good to see an investment in some stability in the secondary. As a previous poster said, this might be a selling point for Revis and McCourty that the Patriots intend to keep a solid unit intact going forward.

The Boilden signing is interesting, too. Another key special teams player locked in for the future and a valuable depth running back. Congratulations to him as well.

The Patriots are clearly rewarding the hard working guys who set the tone for younger guys and free agents.

Chung now clearly qualifies as a "successful" draft pick. If he plays out his extension he will have spent 8 full seasons with the team through, more than any secondary player in the BB era (Devin McCourty would also have 8 full seasons through 2017, assuming he is extended):

- Rodney Harrison - 6 seasons (2003-2008)
- James Sanders - 6 seasons (2005-2010)
- Eugene Wilson - 5 seasons (2003-2007)
- Asante Samuel - 5 seasons (2003-2007)
- Ty Law - 5 seasons (2000-2004 under BB; but 10 total seasons with the Pats)
- Brandon Meriweather - 4 seasons (2007-2010)

He's been a starting player for the past 5 seasons. A 2nd round draft pick who becomes a solid starter and earns a multi-year 2nd contract from the team who drafted him has got to be considered a successful pick.

Now get McCourty and Revis signed long term. I think McCourty is destined for the franchise tag though.
2014 tag for S was $8.4m. Big money but it'll most likely be less than a signing bonus.

No surprise, as both players have been tremendous in their niche roles. They are the kind of guys that every championship team needs to do the dirty work. They both do it well.

Yea he has 3 on the year.

He plays on all four units and backups RB and FB positions. He provides very good depth.

His contract is short money and very "cuttable" in case hes beaten out in camp.

Great deal!

Safety play sucks across the NFL. In BB's new secondary system, Chung is a decent safety. It's hard to find them. For instance, Ihedigbo wasn't good here or in NY but was decent in Baltimore and solid in Detroit.

Our 5 secondary players (Revis/Browner/Arrington/McCourty/Chung) may actually all be back for 2015 training camp. When the heck was the last time that happened?

glad they resigned bolden, he's good.

glad they resigned bolden, he's good.
There were people who were surprised he made the team. He probably could have made the Pro Bowl as a ST guy if there were more spots for them.

In August, which one of you guessed that the first member of the secondary to be extended would have been Chung?

And when can we go to Vegas together?

liked that we kept bolden. every now and the he has a decent run/scores a td. pretty good 4th string back, also plays well on special teams.
