Dave Damichek has a podcast on NFL.com. In this one he does about 45 minutes with McGinest and Heath Evans on the Pats, BB, Brady, and what makes the Pats so consistently good regardless of who is playing for them. Some great insights that shouldn't be missed.

Note: The first 15 minutes is commentary on the divisional games with Eliot Harrison. Feel free to skip over it. And if the link doesn't work, just go the podcast page at nfl.com and look for the latest DDFP podcast

Enjoy. Its worth it.

Willie is awesome. This is a good listen.

Evans sounds like he'd take a bullet for Belichick.

And the funniest part about this interview is that the host is a Steeler's fan lol

Bruschi pretty much said all the same stuff in an interview once when he was still playing. He said that the Pats would see everything on the field that BB said they'd see. He said that BB adjusts to what the team is doing on the fly better than just about everyone too, so if something wasn't going according to plan, BB would identify and fix the problem easily. He just knows the game.

Dave Damichek is great. The only Steeler fan I really like.

His break down of all the Peyton GOAT nonsense earlier in the season was great.
To paraphrase:

"A lot of people like to talk about who the greatest of all time is. I'm not going to get into that, but If you're going to be considered the greatest, shouldn't you be able to play in big games, or in the month of December, or in increment weather, in a drizzle of rain, or in a slight breeze?" lololol

Damichek dropping a dose of reality on media fanboy sensationalists.

I'm sure the disagree was someone not liking the message (he is an admitted Steeler fan) and not the messenger.

Willie is awesome. This is a good listen.
I always love hearing Willie Mac tell stories, probably more so than any other former player. His commentary just seems more candid. Bruschi has given a lot of candid stories too, but Willie Mac seems to hold back less.

Loved this, thanks for the link.

Any thoughts on who were the guys that Willie said didn't fit so "We drove them out"?

Love Willie and Heath, do not like Dave Damenshek...

This sounds more suitable for video than audio..

I can't remember his name right off hand, but BB signed a FA DLman back in 2002 to be the NT who never worked out and was gone later that same season.

The AThomas, who IMO played better than most perceived, but simply never bought into the "I'll play where ever they need me" mentality and eventually became a whiner in the locker room.

One thing that clearly comes across in that conversation is something the Pats have always been upfront about. The "Patriot Way" isn't for everyone, and just because you don't fit in, doesn't make you a bad player or person. It is HARD to play here and if you do, it comes with sacrifices as well as reward.

BTW- I've written a lot of stuff that people could legitimately disagree with. I can't image how this post would be one of them. What's the story Bill Lee? ;)

Heath Evans anecdote about Belichick talking to the team after the loss to the Giants in the 18-1 Superbowl was illuminating.

To bullet point, according to him:
Patriots got away from their original game plan.
Bill Belichick shouldered a lot of the blame, was emotional, and felt he let the 53 man roster down on their 19-0 season
