2015 Patriots Free Agents - Predicting who stays and who goes and at what price

Aside from the obvious players, I really hope we keep Ridley. I like that kid in a Patriot uniform and he has a lot of very real passion for this football team. Players don't shed tears when they don't care.

If `The Patriot Way` is still a thing, its personified in our injured but #1 RB.

Ridley is a good kid and a great player I hope we retain him but if one of Atlanta or new Orleans come a calling I think he is gone.

I see the Pats making serious efforts at re-signing Branch and Ayers, especially Ayers. I also think the projection for Chung is low.

:)

Your predictions were probably better than 95% of the posters on here.......

Every year there is a 20-25% turnover of players on the roster......That means 10-12 new faces.

Trying to predict what goes on in BB's head is impossible.....

It's almost as hard as predicting who they will draft every Spring ! :(

I hope you're wrong on Ayers and Branch, and of course, since you're talking about free agents, we didn't get to the most pressing question of all: that Revis guy...

Do you think that the Pats will retain Revis?

Love the look back
It's incredibly difficult to predict complex outcomes that even BB at that time was uncertain about.

I agree, on both counts. Love the accountability check. And it's just so hard to predict what will happen, and what the market will be like. Almost all of Miguel's predictions were reasonable, and almost all ended up being wrong:
Miguel said:
Danny Aiken – Stays – 2014 cap hit – $800,000
LeGarrette Blount – Stays – 2004 cap hit – $1.5 million
Andre Carter – Retires
Austin Collie – Stays – 2014 cap hit of $635,000
Julian Edelman – Goes
Dane Fletcher – Stays – 2014 cap hit of $800,000
Michael Hoomanawanui – Stays – 2014 cap hit of $1,000,000
Matthew Mulligan – Stays – 2014 cap hit of $635,000
Brandon Spikes – Goes
Will Svitek – Stays – 2014 cap hit of $900,000
Aqib Talib – Stays – 2014 cap hit of $4,000,000
Ryan Wendell – Goes

Edelman and Wendell stayed, Talib, Blount, Fletcher, Collie, Mulligan and Svitek went. The market was much softer for Edelman and Wendell than predicted.

Revis is under contract for the 2015 season. They will have to re-negotiate the contract as the 2015 number is unrealistic OR release him.

im aware, but does Miguel think the Patriots will cut Revis and he will sign elsewhere, sign him to an extension or pick up his option?

Sign him to an extension.

If they do not, I expect the Patriots to release him.

I can't see them parting with Ayers or Branch.

The Patriots may retain Revis with an extention provided the Jets have not already made
a superior offer.

I have said many times what I want the Patriots to do. I think they will do something different though and disappoint me a little.

In the end I think they let Ayers and Branch walk and they probably keep Connolly, Vereen, Ridley, Siliga, McCourty, Casillas & Gost.

They will probably try to replace Ayers/Branch with low level FAs or draft picks and we will find ourselves thin again

The biggest surprise to us will be when the Patriots let Gostkowski walk. They don't like his agent
to begin with (remember Welker) and can save a $4 million salary for a rookie salary. What they
will forfeit is having a few long kickoff returns and a few missed field goals.

I really want Ayers back next year. I could see him moving up to defensive end next year when Mayo returns.
