OT: Larry Fitzgerald does not expect to be back with the Cardinals next season

As putrid as Arizona's offense became, Fitzgerald probably thinks they should have least tried to use him in hero mode, the way he could perform in his prime. It's not like anything else worked out for them recently ...

And Givens.

Only one of the three ever did much as a WR in college.

3 WRs in the past 12 drafts, and 1 in the past 11.
That's gotta be some kind of record.

Just a reminder for those of you who seem to consider every Thread an Opportunity to whine and squeal about how incompetent Coach Belichick is: The subject we're discussing is what would be the best approach to take regarding FitzGerald ~ weighing his potential Impact against how much of a bite signing him would take out of our Salary Cap and, implicitly, how much Talent we would therefore have to sacrifice in order to make it happen ~ not who can whine and squeal the loudest about how awful Coach Belichick is.

And before Gronk and Hernandez they could not draft Tight Ends. Are you serious?

They see a division 2 (or was it 3) QB and say, "..hmmm, a WR" It works and that is evidence they are bad.

In your defense, that makes more sense than your original point of, "They have never drafted a WR, except the ones they did, therefore FITZGERALD." :)

:)

???

Are you 12?

Belichick did fine in drafting TE's before Gronk and Hernandez.

Ben Watson was still catching 49 balls a year in his 9th year. He has just completed his 11th year, and will likely be cut because he is injured and likely not worth his 2015 salary.

Daniel Graham also played for 11 years, and played well for us. He was primarily a blocker. although he caught his share of passes, a fairly good tight end.

Tight ends until Gronk and Graham (and Hernandez) were primarily blockers and occasionally were pass receivers. Both Watson and Graham were fine picks.

Perhaps the expectations were a bit too high for the immortal Arthur Love?

I added Graham before you posted.

But, yes, I forgot the immortal Arthur Love.

Oh, Russ Francis, Ben Coates, and even Mike Ditka agree that pass catching was not something they did. And have you forgotten Watson's fumbling issues or are you 5?

I think Atlanta is a better destination for Fitzgerald than New England, if he doesn't care about getting paid he will probably stay in Arizona but if he still wants a good amount of money and a good QB then Atlanta seems like the best destination for him.

A few years ago I would have loved to see Fitzgerald in a Pats uniform, but from what I've seen of him in the last 2 years he isn't even close to what he once was. Michael Floyd is a better WR on Arizona then Fitzgerald is now.

If Dobson's health is better next year i'd like to see him get another shot or bring in a Free Agent who isn't past his prime.

This has been rehashed for a few years now. Personally I think he would be a good fit. No, he is not the same players but he did show flashes of his old self a couple of games this season playing with some pretty bad inaccurate passers.

Against Philadelphia he caught 7 for 160 and a TD. 9 for 112 vs St Louis and 6 for 98 and a TD vs Was. To say he is done is a little premature, he can still take a short slant the distance and he is a savvy smart players that knows all the tricks.

I'm not breaking the bank for him but I am definitely showing interest. If he wants to win bad enough and the Patriots want him I could see it getting done.

Former great player's are capable of the occasional good game, but cannot consistently maintain that high level anymore. Larry's best days are way behind him , so i think we should pass on him unless he is dirt cheap.Patriot's would be better off going after a Vincent Jackson since he still has speed to be a consistent deep threat which is exactly what the team needs, and will likely be a mid level free agent.

I'd much rather break the bank for Demaryious or trade for Josh Gordon and get Tim Tebow to be his life counselor.
