Gronk unanimous All-Pro

Strictly speaking, they never have. The "second team" is actually the runners-up at a given position (so, for example, there is no second-team All-Pro TE this year, b/c GRONK got ALL the TE votes).
But does Dan Connolly get a 2nd team all pro nod just for getting one vote?

Barwin, Mosley, Timmons over Collins and Hightower?

Quinn over McCourty?

Congratulations to the 9 Patriots All-Pros

Rob Gronkowski: SB MVP

But ... but ... Jimmy Graham!!!

I remember ESPN asking a question on twitter. If both TEs are healthy, which would you want on your team? F***** Jimmy Graham won by quite a few votes, and I was pretty pissed. It was ridiculous. I can only assume people didn't read the part where ESPN said, "HEALTHY."

No. The way it works is:

  1. Each position is allotted N slots (1 QB, 2 WRs, etc.). That is the number of votes each voter gets at that position.
  2. Votes are tallied. The top N players at the position are named First-Team. [If there's a tie, everyone at that number is First-Team.]
  3. The next N players (plus any ties) are named Second-Team.
The Patriots' only Second-Team player was Gostkowski.

Twitter "Favorite/Retweet" polls are among the dumbest polling methods ever invented, since they're inherently biased toward the retweet option.

Getting an All-Pro vote does not make a player an All-Pro. All-Pro is a person who makes the 1st or 2nd team.

Healthy Graham
Every other TE.

Actually does that mean the 2nd Team doesn't have a TE?

It was in the link titles on the up to the minute thing. I hadn't read any articles.

Jeff Howe was behind that screw up:

I think I completely screwed up my interpretation of the All-Pro voting...

My mistake for not double checking

d%#*!@t so Brady lost the Second team all pro nod by one vote to Romo..

I don't understand this huge hype with Timmons.

Joel Bitonio, the guy I thought the Pats should pick, gets 1 All-Pro vote. Meanwhile the Pats O-Line is in shambles and Easley has majory injury questions. Hopefully all may work out in the long run.

McCourty didn't really do anything that was all that All-Pro worthy. For the most part he sat back in cover 1 for probably 60-70% of his snaps, and didn't really have a tangible impact on a lot of plays. He was a solid player, but out of all the 64 other starting safeties in the NFL he didn't really do all that much to distinguish himself as a top 2 safety.

Oh look a new McCourty detractor. Let me know if all you are gonna do on here is complain about McCourty so I can ignore you now.

Shambles? Really?

I'm absolutely shocked that Manning didn't get 1 vote. You'd figure one of his ballwashers would throw him a vote.
Not the way he has played the last month.

I certainly plan on talking about a lot more than just McCourty. I'm interested in having a good discussion on the talents and merits of all thing Patriots. If saying that McCourty was a good, but not great player this year makes me a detractor, then I guess I'm a detractor. He schematically played a position that is extremely hard to make a big impact. He was a prototypical Patriots player this year and just did his job. Unfortunately for him his job was lining up 15 yards off the LOS, taking a ten step drop in coverage, and breaking on a vertical route depending on his assignment. If you're not Ed Reed it's really hard to be an impact player as a cover 1 safety.

If we're talking about an All-Pro team, it's hard to argue McCourty against the guy who led the NFL in interceptions. If you find that ignore worthy then go ahead and ignore me.
