So it is still a while before the draft takes place but I have had something on my mind for a while and wanted to throw it out there now cause to do it would require a lot of leg work and coordination.

The plan is this. Every team has at least 1 fan site (some more) so I thought it be cool to have a live mock draft set up like a real draft. Trades, Timer and all.

Obviously you can't have the whole fan base involved so each board would need to nominate 1 person or a small group to make decisions as it would need to be in under 10 minutes (obviously).

My question is

#1 Does anyone like this idea
#2 Does anyone think such a thing can be pulled off and should we go to other boards to float it?

I think it's a good idea with two caveats:

1. it would be a pig to organise.

2. Keeping every one on board for a 'live' draft would be difficult. It would just take a couple of participants to fail to turn up to throw things out of sync.

But, I think it's something you should continue to explore because if you could pull it off it would be excellent. If I can help, I will.

Without following all the other boards, i think its safe to say, Patriots fans have more knowledge and passion then most. There is a reason other fans offen "looks" toward Patfans.com and mainly the draft parts, since people here ( you know WHO ) doing a insanely good job. As we all know, it takes ALOT of time....

Well here are my vague solutions (I also thought of this).

#1 It would only be the first few rounds
#2 We would encourage board to build "draft teams" of 3-4 people so the idea of everyone involved in that fan bases "team" not showing up is small as opposed to a board depending on 1 person to be there.

That makes sense. Trades will also be difficult though. Fans DO NOT want to trade up. We tried a GM mock last year and the trading side of it was dead because no-one wanted to trade up. You'll have to make a decision early about whether to include trades.

Trades might be a tad bit too ambitious and will probably not happen. However I think that is not an option I want to kill off the bat and think it be nice to give other fan bases the option to decide against them than just starting out that way.

I think I am going to float the idea to a few boards this week of already eliminated teams to see how they feel about it (boards with teams still in the playoffs probably will not be interested in it yet as we tend to be a bit more fanatic than other boards). I think if a few fan bases sign on it could get take off.

I am going to probably use this thread to update progress on it. Obviously if anyone wants to take initiative and try to sign up other boards by all means do so. I know I will not be able to organize this all alone.

I applaud your creativity, but I think it's going to be a ***** to pull off. Manx organized a mock draft "game" on this site alone, with individuals picking for different teams, and no repeat picks within 5 picks allowed so that no one could dominate. No trades allowed. That exercise was hard enough. Doing what you suggest seems like a great idea - and I really don't want to rain on your parade - I just think it's would be next to impossible to pull it off.

Oh I am aware it might not be possible. If it does not work out then oh well but I am going to give it a shot. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
