Have you heard the news? Tomase now on EEI.."not to be a fan!"

I thought I remembered it coming out the very day of the game, but you're right, they held it till two days after the game. Supposedly they had it before the AFC Championship game. So, there's one difference between the Globe and the Herald for all you Globe haters. They had a legitimately sourced story and held it till after the game, the Herald had a story that was ********, and didn't hold it. :)

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am one of those Glob haters, but you still can't compare what one paper
did in 1985 to what another did 22 years later.

p.s.: I agree with Deus that 98.5 is complete, utter crap M-F from 6am-6pm; too bad that EEI
hasn't taken full advantage of that.

here's some other pretty good quotes..

"plant you corn early..."

"don't step in front of speeding trains"

"never drink sterno with a girl named Ruth.."

"As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect..."

and NOW ladies and germs, I give you....

heh...well, the punchline is RUTH ..as in crying ruth..or barking at the porcelein

Tomase would love Borges. This is so fitting that I'd be shocked if it wasn't the case.

who's is this guy everyone hates? cliff note please?

Tomase is the guy who claimed in the days leading up to super bowl 42 that the Pats had taped the Rams' SB walkthrough in 2001. Later turned out that the whole story was BS without an actual source, and the Herald was forced to print a retraction.

The whole "vacation time" for sports talks radio is insufferable and does little for the sports fans, but pads the pockets of the "practice squad".. have tried to listen this week, but usually turn the channel. The other morning they had a dude named "Danny Picard" who went into a 3 minute dialogue of what might have been if this might have happened and other high levels of "probability"..

Sometimes as I drive I get so pissed feel like I just want to hit a tree.. then I pick up a local newspaer, Providence Journal, and read the local fossils Reynolds and Donaldson, who are confused with just being dumb, but believe they are edgy...

Evidently, neither did the Boston Herald in early February, 2008.

.

I never bought another Herald after that. I am just wondering what show
he will be on so I can never listen to it.

Actually the only, one I really, listen to is the afternoon show, I turned off the midday show, because Benz is a Steeler fan hack and that left only one show I am willing to tolerate. If he goes on Dale and Holley then I will,be done with EEI.

Never did miss the Herald one bit, gave up the Globe shortly after that and don't miss that either.

Living in Florida I don't have the privilege of listening to Boston sports talk radio. However after that lying piece of crap Tomase ran the story before the Superbowl, I voiced my opinion on the Herald site to the extent I was banned. If he is on the Weei web site I will have delete also. Do they really believe that any true Boston sports fan actually forgives what he did.

he has to put his personal bias aside when he writes, because thats what professionals like him do

he seems like a cool dude
Incorrect. As a columnist, as opposed to strictly reporting, his job is to present opinionated viewpoints.

Corrected your note, which I believe provides more context.

Since the Pats name and actions were already hit earlier that season by the Cameragate episode and its penalties, this unnecessary and disgusting smear by a local reporter (who should know better than to trumpet speculations) was taken up immediately by every section of the media.

As a result, BB, the coaches and players faced an unbelievable relentless spotlight right until the game ended.

Though BB claimed that that harsh spotlight was not the cause for that SB loss, I find it hard to believe that this severally damaging false story just before they are about to play on the most important - and historic - game of that season did not affect the focus/concentration and preparation of the players and coaches.

PS: well, fact is I also blame BB a little bit for uncharatestically wearing a red sweatshirt ;)

Besides, the Globe in that case delayed the story until after the Super Bowl so it wasn't a distraction the day before like Tomase's piece in the Herald.

...and got pilloried for being too Pats-friendly as a result. Times have changed.

Well said.

As a writer for a tabloid, he can claim whatever reckless sh*t he wants to without basing it on facts, as long as it generates headlines and attract attention. So what if such false stories sink the best performing - and beloved - local team's chances of attaining something historic?

Now to be clear, I have no problem with that moron - or his owner - writing any crap, as freedom and expression of opinions is what this great country is about.

In this case, I just wish both he and his owner could have waited for a day before making such perinially damaging allegations. After all, they knew that it was hot story based on speculation, and so it will still generate attention and coverage that they crave even after the game was over. (Especially more if the Pats had won it and their record was a unbeaten 19-0.)

So, why spoil a momentous chance for the team and its fans?

Unless of course they care a damn about the team and its fans.

Which is why I refused to read or click on any BH story for five years as my 2 cents of anger against them.

I still refuse to read or click anything what this moron has to say.

Thanks to this forum, I can at least vent. :)

i'm in chicago, so i don't get to listen to boston sports radio. but lately, i've been listening through espn boston link.

i must admit chicago sports radio is gazillion times better than boston guys.

He's a baseball writer so that won't be hard to do with Red Sox fans ... piss them off.
Anyways he'll just be writing stories for their website ... it's not that much of a big deal IMO.

Sadly, there is a market for this crap. I know many Patriots fans who though interested do not read sites such as Patsfans. Instead they get their Patriots news (sic) from Felger & Co. There is not time enough in my day to dispel all the wrong "information" they get from those morons. They assume that because they're on the radio (or Tomasse in print) that the blatherers are in the know with inside information and I don't know what I'm talking about. Sigh.

I don't worry about the what the "pink hat"Boston sports fans think who get their information from those radio heads. The only thing I would trust the fat slob Tomase's opinion about is jelly donuts. I think Weei will soon realize that there is a difference between being controversial like Borges and being hated like Tomase. Hatred does not translate to using their sponsors.

That fact that the fat slob hasn't be run out of town is a reflection of the lack of integrity on the birdcage liner he writes for. Weei has just jumped into the dumpster by hiring him.

I just realized that there is a secret benefit to WEEI hiring Tomase. They can sell in their store toilet paper with his picture on it. I am sure the Boston sports fans would be willing to buy that product.
