We've done this before. Let's all scoop heaping spoonfuls of crow into our stupid mouths.

Things I was wrong about, 2014 season edition:

1) Brandon Browner would be a marginal addition to the team.

Man, he's like our new Rodney. Guy has absolutely contributed to our defensive renaissance second only to Revis. His physical presence has more than filled in for the fire that left with Brandon Spikes but contrary to Spikes Browner actually has really impressed with his coverage skills.

2) Brandon LaFell is a trash heap player.

I didn't post about it much because I don't generally hate on players wearing our jersey but I was not enthusiastic about the signing and the first couple games did little to reinforce the idea that this guy was going to be a worse version of Reche Caldwell. Instead he's proven to be a solid addition and a guy whose ability to break tackles I think has yet to be fully realized. Super excited for the future with LaFell in it.

3) Bill Belichick's defensive philosophy is dated and useless in today's NFL.

This was a big one. I've been very frustrated with this decade of **** defense for some time now but I actually posted that I felt that Belichick's bend don't break defense simply could not function in today's NFL. Well, here we are now with the best 2nd half defense in the league and overall a defense that I'm growing increasingly confident will 'make something happen' in ways I haven't felt since back when there was no such thing as an iPhone.

Just LaFell, really. I thought he would struggle to make the roster and hoped that his contract was mostly incentives with little guaranteed.

Oh, and I thought Jimmy G's college tape was Brady Quinn all over again (this was before we drafted him, FWIW). Jury still completely out on that one, but I think he's going to have a better career than Quinn did.

I too, was rather concerned about Brandon Browner. I was worried that many here were getting their hopes up too high when he was suspended and the team wasn't performing very well. I am definitely glad that I was wrong about that, and feel as though he's definitely key to our secondary.

1) Thompkins will break out this season
looool. He seemed so promising!

2) Brady will win the MVP (after Denver game)
Really stemmed from the fact that I thought they were going to beat the Packers handily, as they had been playing so well in the games leading up to it that they had given no reason to doubt. After that game though he had some issues, as least as far as "looking good for the MVP" goes. The offensive line's regression contributed to that.

3) Chung is bad
Actually he wasn't bad! His coverage skills really improved tremendously IMO.

I don't know, there's probably other things but I can't think of them.

I thought Dobson was going to have a big, big year

I thought this defense would rank top 5 in most important categories (points allowed/game, yards/game)

Thought Dobson was going to have a huge year, Chung was a waste when he signed and LaFell would flame out based on some preconception I had of him being not very good.

Glad I was wrong about LaFell! Turns out he's a very good receiver and has crazy quickness for someone as tall as he is. Chung has had a good year too bar a few lapses.

After the KC blowout someone in my fantasy league actually dropped Brady and he cleared waivers. I sat there on a Saturday morning staring at the free agent list and already having Russell Wilson and Kaepernick at QB I couldn't bring myself to drop one of them for Brady.

I felt so dirty, like I owed it to him to save him from the humiliation of being dropped. The next day someone else picked him up and I immediately regretted not grabbing him.

I did end up winning the league, but the betrayal still haunts me.

Tom, will you ever forgive me?

Collins. I wasn't on boaard with the hype on him. But he has proven me wrong. On the flip side, I was over confident on Tyms. He has lessened his drops (IMO), but I'm still hopeful he has more chances and can improve his YAC. I haven't abused Arrington here, but have cussed him out at my tv a few times. But I'm finally seeing his worth after seeing Butler and Ryan take the field more. I also think DA has improved as well as staying healthy.

I thought Amendola was gonna contribute more this year (receiving wise)

I though Ayers and Casillas were going to be marginal players who would likely be shipped like Sopoaga having achieved nothing

I thought Chung was a camp body

I thought that it would be Connolly and not Mankins who would be let go

I expected much, more from both Dobson and Amendola.

As for the league I expected the Cowboys to have the first pick overall.

Wrong about Gronk. I expected him to splinter into a thousand pieces.
Right about Cannon.......Never saw the flashes last year. Reminds me a Vlad Ducasse this year....yikes.
Wrong about Solder. Where did his lateral quickness go?
Right about Collins....but it took a few games this year for him to flash his stuff. Wish he was in attack the QB mode more

I said Lafell was a jag. Pretty much wrong there. Decent little player, tough kid.

I said Aaron Dobson would break out. Wrong there, but still hopeful he can contribute next year.

I said Donte Hightower was an average LB. Wrong. He has blossomed.

Wendell. Who know he was a better G than C.

Run defense. other than a couple bad outings in Miami, KC and against the jests it is a top 9 run defense in y/a p/g and ypc

Yep, I wanted him, gone and,he ended up being a really good player for them. Spaced that one out.

Mcourty not Elite.

Wow, what a player. I lost track of all the big plays he made yesterday vs Buffalo. Jobbed again by the probowl too from the haters.
