Anyone have injury updates on these two?

I think our chances in the playoff largely depend on the health of these two players. An offensive line with both of them missing will lead to a lot of shuffling around and a probable repeat of the Chiefs game...

No one is concerned about this...?

I think they are concerned but no info.

FOXBORO -- The Patriots' 17-9 loss to the Bills on Sunday didn't hurt them in the least, but they may have suffered another loss that could actually hurt them in the playoffs.

Starting left tackle Nate Solder left the game late in the second quarter because of a right knee injury and did not return. He was originally ruled questionable to return before the Patriots downgraded him to out in the second half.

The injury came on the Patriots' final drive of the half, on a play where Solder was actually called for an offensive hold in order to prevent Tom Brady from getting hit. He stayed in for the next play before limping off the field.

Has Solder been a monster on the offensive line this season? Not exactly. Like everybody on that line at some point, he's struggled at times this year. But he's better than anybody the Patriots could replace him with.

On Sunday, it was Marcus Cannon who tried to fill in on the left side. It didn't go great. Cannon looked overmatched at times, and also drew a holding penalty in the fourth quarter that wiped out an 18-yard gain. Jimmy Garoppolo was sacked three times in the second half.

There was no update on Solder's status or the significance of the injury after the game. With the Patriots finishing with the top seed in the AFC, they'll get an extra week of rest . . . and that could pay huge dividends if Solder's injury is one that keeps him off his feet for a few days but isn't serious enough to sideline him for two weeks.

"I didn't see what happened" to Solder, fellow offensive lineman Ryan Wendell said. "I just saw him get up and not feeling too well. So I don't know exactly what happened."

It looked like the offense was about to take another hit in the fourth quarter when Brandon LaFell hobbled off the field. But he would return later that quarter and said after the game that he wasn't injured.

"Just came down wrong on my foot, but I'm good."

LaFell was not wearing any kind of padding or boot on his foot, so it doesn't appear to be an issue.

Patriots defensive lineman Sealver Siliga also left the game in the fourth quarter, but after the game said he was "healthy as a rock".

I'm guessing Connelly will be good to go for the Divisonal game.

Hope Solder's alright. If not, Cannon's gonna need to step up.

I hate when games mean nothing and injuries could be something thus making them mean everything. :)

Cannon is worse is the problem. Good in college but has gone backward.

I thought that Solder is no good, anyway? Right? That's what I read on the internet....
No need to read about it, just watch him play. He's not terrible, although he does have terrible stretches, but he can definitely be upgraded.

Personally, I would much rather watch him play than watch him not play... But, that's just me! :)

If Solder's out, they switch Vollmer to the left side and stick Cannon the right. That would be my guess. Vollmer has shown in the past he can handle the left tackle spot.

This will be the most frustrating thread on the planet because we will never know anything until maybe a week from Wednesday or just prior to game time on the 10th.

you realize you are totally ****ed regarding a position when you're praying for Solder to be ok and play the divisional round.

Solder is very likely to be out there on the field come January 10 (so will everyone else who played in this game and is needed on the 53). You can't get offensive linemen to stay away from a playoff game unless you lock them up.

This is the playoffs and they have 2 weeks to heal. It'll be all hands on deck come game time. Whether Solder will be close enough to 100% to be effective is another discussion........

I think we are in a sad state of affairs when we are stating that Solder is "better than anyone we can replace him with". I think that even healthy the guy is one of the worst OL we have had on this team. He is slow, lazy and has poor fundamentals and mechanics. Why BB didn't get rid of the guy during this past offseason and bring in some top OL talent to protect Brady is beyond comprehension. But this has been BB weakness since coming in the league......and certainly his weakness here.

BB's legacy involves......Weak pedestrian OL, NO pass rush and mediocre WR......and people wonder why we can't win another SB .... This will be another "wow we got so close.....if ONLY we had "........fill in the blanks from above.....another year where we will get close but not pull it off I am afraid....

Solder sucks.....but Cannon is WORSE.....hard to even remotely feel any confidence going into playoffs with the jagoffs that we have on OL right now. BB really whiffed on OL staffing AGAIN this year......and once again will be our bleeping Achilles heel......it's like that movie Groundhog Day when the clock radio clicks on with Sonny and Cher singing "I got you babe"......Rise and Shine Campers!

And Marcus Cannon has shown that he can play much more effectively on the right side, so it's a win-win for both players.

I think that you are overstating things quite a bit.

We gave up 40 sacks last season, and still went to the AFCCG. This year they basically cut that in half, by only allowing 21 total sacks through 16 games. That's pretty damn impressive, and also includes a stretch of about 6-8 weeks (mostly against division leaders) where they kept Brady upright the entire time, aside from a couple of sacks in a month and a half.

Yes, the OL can improve, but jeez....they're coming off of a year that allowed the least number of sacks in over 5 years.

As for the OP's question--I would guess that Dan Connelly would be okay to go, seeing as how he won't have played in 3-4 weeks. I think it was more of a choice to play things cautiously.

Nate Solder is an absolute unknown, at least at this point in time. If it's serious, then we're likely to have something leak out in the next few days. No news is probably good news in this case.
