A look at the 2015 Patriots Draft Positioning

Well, if both Ten an TB both loose next week looks like we'll get the 2nd pick in Rds 4, 6 and 7. TB would get the #1 overall and they and Tenn will flip postions every rd if I'm correct and they both loose. I think that's how it goes because TB's opponents record is worse then the Titans so that would give them tie-breaker and #1 overall.

Gotta give it to Bill for picking on the 2 worst teams in the league. We got those 3 picks plus Wright, Ayers and Casillas and millions in cap space for Mankins, a late 5 and 6. That's impressive.;)

FYPFY.

Pats secured the second pick in round 4,6, & 7 today.

So I wonder why they don't?

Patriots Place had a behind the scenes with Belichick at 2009 draft. They showed Belichick on the phone with Ozzie Newsome. They're laughing and joking before making their deal. BB tells him he won't trade unless Ozzie tells him who he's picking. Ozzie is like no way. Then, he trades with the Raiders. It's Al Davis. Yes sir. No sir. Treated Al with utmost respect. Sounded like a discussion with someone at a bank. So, it's a two for your two, three and 6. Just want to confirm that Mr. Davis. Yes, that's correct.

If I was another GM and BB called me to deal, I'd hang up the phone.

I think BB honest comes into play here. He has a track record of dealing with the same organizations. Plus everyone knows that BB isn't going anywhere, so his longevity, also comes into play. BB is know as a straight up guy, its not like he pulled a switch like Jimmy Johnson did to the Vikings,. when he cut all those guys in the Hershell Walker trade so that he would get the draft picks. Plus of course, they know that whatever they say to BB, won't be repeated by Adam or Mort in 20 minutes.

It doesn't always work out badly for the other teams. The Pats pulled a similar mid-season trade last year wit the Eagles, exchanging 5th and 6th round picks for Isaac Sapoaga, to try and fill a major hole at DT. Sapoaga didn't work out and got passed up by Sealver Siliga. The Eagles were able to dump some cap space, and they used the 5th round pick from the Pats to trade for Darren Sproles. That one worked out pretty well for them. The Pats used Philly's 6th on Zach Moore, BTW.

There are several other trades that haven't worked out that well: trading up for Ron Brace in 2009 comes to mind.

28-29 will be the losers of tomorrow's divisional games.

Pats should be picking 30-32. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the #29 pick is out.

Carolina might be a good trade partner if we want to move up. They should be picking higher. But, won their division at 7-8-1. Then, drew Arizona. Go for quantity now that their pick dropped. They're in other conf. so trading with us is no biggie.

Cleveland at 19 have shown a likeness for adding picks although they do like adding them in following years.

Baltimore at 26 could be a trade partner. Ozzie has traded with the Pats before, and has traded back twice in the past 5 years (2010, 2012). 30-32 -> 26 could get us to a DT, as the Ravens are fairly loaded at the position and have taken DTs on day 2 the past 2 years (Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan).

I want to make this absolutely clear. I am not saying it should happen, that it will happen or that I want it to happen but IF we do trade Brady this off-season, Saints at 13, 49ers at 15 and Texans at 16 look like potential partners. Obviously I would think additional picks would need to be added this year or next.

No matter the outcome this coming weekend, i think we won't pick lower than 30..

Oh manx.:) I think the likelyhood of that happening after he shuffled that $24mil around makes it about a 0.00001% chance of that. I think the status quo of 2 on the 53 will remain for next year and 2016 as well. I do think grabbing a late Rd. or UDFA signal caller is a strong possibility.

I mean we got #15 for Bledsoe. If you had said both of Clevelands 1st Rders that would sound more realistic. SF would have to figure out what to do with Kap and NO, even apart from Brees, is in cap hell. BOB in Houston wouldn't let us squeeze him like other teams would. Example: Mallet.

With that said, if Doughty out in Western Kentucky comes close to his performance of last year he'll be high on my list for next year. You just can't replace Brady right now, he carried this team Sat. He got stronger as the game went along.

As far as trade bait. Amendola and Arrington are the obvious standouts. But because I like you and respect you as a poster I'll fall on the sword and throw out some sacriligous crazy talk. I believe if we don't pick up the option on Revis, he would become a UFA on Mar. 10. With his demand it was assure us another 3rd round comp next year. While were talking about comps I think they should change the CBA to make those picks tradeable.

I'm pretty sure that Revis is released before March 10th he will not count in the 2016 comp pick calculations. Only players whose contracts expire at the end of the 2014 season are eligible.

That was what I was wondering. Deciding not pick up the option is essentially more or less a release. If that be the case that would be unfortunate if that's the way things play out. I still think we'll work something out but I was really just trying to throw manx a life-bouy before someone starts dropping nasty posts on him.;)

I think you're missing a very big "if" in there (see above). At least, I hope so.
