Edelman loses out on a $31,250 46-man roster bonus and maybe his 500K NLTBE incentive. Browner loses out on a 150K 46-man roster bonus and maybe some playing-time incentives.
See??? This is Bill and Krafty Bob being CHEAP!

Where's Patrodonkus when we need him?

Patriots inactives: Jonas Gray, Dont'a Hightower, Dan Connolly, Sebastian Vollmer, Rob Groknowski, Brandon Browner, Julian Edelman

Thank goodness.

I hope that Gray is OK. I would have had Revis inactive instead of Gray.

Other than that, AWESOME!

Now, I'd also like to see minimal if any reps for Brady, Wilfork, Chandler Jones, McCourty and Revis.

If Brady comes out and the offense scored 7-10 points quick, then I would be unsurprised to see the Pats take him out. If they sputter, I expect to see the starters out there longer.

We don't want to have another rough offensive outing before waiting two weeks for the next game. A little momentum would be ideal.
Not sure what he gains when he's missing at least half of his core offense. He's going to gain rhythm with ....Boyce?

Under the old CBA teams have given the player the bonus when the player was close. Have not heard of it happening under the new CBA with its cash spending restrictions. What is unknown- if the pats give Edelman his 500k incentive does it make LTBE for 2015?
If the teams gives Edelman an additional bonus of $500K, why would it now be likely that he would perform any differently in 2015? The performance goal will not be met in 2014, even if the team gives him an additional pay increase. But, as you say, this is new ground.

Brady would get critical reps with Boyce, Tyms, Wright, Hooman, AND Manieri. He would also get more practice avoiding a solid DL without Brady's OL starters (with Vollmer and Connolly out).

NOT!

I'm actually a bit surprised, but not shocked.

That said, this is going to be a weird game, and I am so glad it means nada.
Why is this a weird game? Do you just skip the preseason?

Hopefully Connolly heals up with the added rest and Vollmer is more precautionary than anything. Hopefully Brady doesn't play too much behind that line. It could be ugly.

Top two DL for the Bills are also out.

Still doesn't give me warm fuzzy feelings. They have been struggling of late.

I think Tom might play a half, or even just a few series, in this "get em healed up" configuration. Maybe not.

The most crucial thing here is the title of the thread.

I want to see a healthy Gronk fighting for every ball in our last game of the season... it's been sorely lacking of late. It looks like BB and company are thinking likewise.

And of course it extends way beyond just Gronk. Good decision if you ask me.
