@FieldYates: Source: Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard (hamstring) has been placed on IR. Team promotes WR Josh Boyce from the practice squad.

Talk about a junior slump for Dennard. Hope he rebounds next year.

Dennard was never really right this season. He and Dobson better spend their offseason at Gillette working their asses off.

It is nice to see Boyce earn his way back onto the roster. He can stretch the field.

Starting to feel a little Brandon Spikesish...

Tomorrow will definitely be an interesting evaluation day. We'll have Jimmy G at QB, Ryan/Butler vs Watkins/Woods, and get one last look to see if Tyms/Boyce can offer us anything.

Someone needs to take command of the CB4 spot between Ryan/Butler.

Perhaps he tore his hamstring in practice yesterday? Strange year for him; goes from two interceptions in the divisional round and starting in the AFCCG to barely playing this year, struggling some and now ends on IR.

Hope he comes back strong next year.

If there is a next year.

That would be dissapointing, but I could see it happening.

Knock on wood, Revis/Browner/Arrington is our CB trio for years to come. After that though, Ryan really hasn't shown he can be a NFL man CB and Butler is a D2 UDFA. We could improve depth for next year, although it's not a top priority.

What -- you got dreds and toked up?

Ol' Brandon's got his own sense of style ...

disappointing season...hopefully a nice rebound next year

The team certainly seems iffy on Dennard. That Delvin Breaux we looked at really intrigues me. We'll see what happens.

And as Reiss points out, probably a look at James White.

A chance to see Garoppolo and White on offense. Rookie quarterback Jimmy Garoppolohas appeared in three games this season (Kansas City, Chicago and Indianapolis), with his time limited to late in the game. This figures to be his most extended action and represents a nice opportunity for him to manage the offense in a regular-season setting. It caught our attention that Garoppolo ducked away from big media crowds this week, not wanting to draw any extra attention to himself. Meanwhile, at running back, Jonas Gray (ankle) is already out and it might be smart to rest LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) for a second straight game. That would almost certainly thrust rookie James White to the game-day roster for just the third time this year. Let's see what he can do.

Spoke to several DBs about Boyce's progression on practice squad. Said he's given them a great look and has clearly improved route running

I still have hope for Boyce. We also released Cam Henderson from PS and re-signed Dax Swanson, presumably for some CB depth in case of injury with Dennard gone.

Would love Boyce to be a success here. There's so much athletic talent.

That's the thing, he's not some JAG athlete, he's a big time athlete and only in his second year. As I've said a few times over the year, though, the fact that no-one picked him up from our PS is sobering to those of us who like him. But I really hope he's with us next year, there's potential in what's a position badly in need of depth.

Yay go boyceroo.
