Jimmy Garopollo starts, plays brilliantly, then what?

I think Garoppolo is going to be a VERY good QB, and IF he has a good showing vs Buffalo, I would be very impressed, because they have a very good defense. the Pats probably will be sitting a lot of their offensive starters, so if he has a good showing, that would be impressive. BUT, even if he does, I see him on the bench the next 2 season. Still, I've never had this positive a feeling about a Brady backup QB. I think we could win with him if, God forbid, the unthinkable happens.

WE ALL OVERRATE JAMES GAROPOLO
HE IS SUCH CUTE NO? BUT HE IS NOT BRADY YES? BRADY IS LEGEND, GAROPOLO IS FRAT BOY

Elaborate...

jimmy will go into next year as the backup

brady as the starter

bb will evaluate, like always

not complicated

Let us pretend Garopollo takes the field on Sunday and is lights out, what is your plan for him:

- Do you stay the course and keep him as a backup and potential heir apparent to Brady in 3-4 years?
- Do you move on from Brady who is still a top 5 QB in the NFL (behind just Rodgers in my opinion)?
- Do you trade Jimmy G for a high draft pick in round 1 of the 2015 draft?

What would you do??

P.S. Happy Holidays and best wishes in the New Year to all of you! Go Pats‼

If anyone's willing to trade a 1st for Garopollo after one lights-out start against a Buffalo team with basically nothing to play for, I'll fly back across the country for the privilege of driving him to the airport. Doubly so if it's a high 1st, since most teams tha tare desperate for a QB suck.

JAMES GARAPOLO HAS NOT PROVED HIMSELF
WE MUST KEEP BRADY UNTIL HE IS GONE
BRADY IS LEGEND
But what did he ever do wrong to be called a frat boy though Dikembe? ;)

I am just trying to stir up some discussion on a week when we are playing a meaningless game. Garopollo is the most intriguing aspect of this weeks game, so I figured I would create this thread and hear what people thought.

Matt Flynn received a huge contract after 1 game in week 17 a few years ago.

Right on, and it's in play and an interesting premise, IMO. There are enough teams with dumpster fires at QB that I could definitely see Garoppolo getting interest if he starts in week 17 and looks great. It would be a nice problem to have, for sure.

Personally, I am inclined to keep him, unless we received a top 15 pick as compensation, otherwise I feel like it would be net even or even net negative for us to replace him.

I agree it is good problem to have, and I hope he lights it up. It will be hard though, the Bills come to play against usually and the OL we put out there could be scary bad.

And like always, Tom Brady will rip the backup quarterbacks heart out and put it into a doggy bag to go.

Not complicated. #BooHooBradyCrew

The Patriots coaching staff watch Garopollo all week in practice - I doubt there's anything he can do Sunday to radically change their opinion of him, one way or the other.
It's not really about the Patriots coaching staff it is more about other teams interest to trade for him. B

Trade Brady to Houston for JJ Watt and Bill O'Brien's 2015, 2016 and 2017 1st rounders.

i would rather have brady play for next 6 years. even if brady becomes just a game manager, i still want brady. and that means jimmy G needs to go because i don't want him to wait 6 years. that's just not fair for the kid.

i just believe that brady is determined to play after 40. i think brady is serious about sticking around. i know BB is ruthless, but brady is a survivor. he won't lose his starting job to a young gun.

I love Brady but I am not that attached to him. If the day comes that Brady is just a game manager and isn't going to bring us home a trophy I will easily move on to our next qb. Change isn't always bad.

If Belichick had the chance to give Mallet more snaps in regular season games, Mallet would probably have better stats and that could have helped in all those trade rumors and negotiations. He had 17 yards I think, and 1 pick.

Now he has a chance to do that, with Garopolo. This is a meaningless game, give Brady some rest and light some fire under his add for the playoffs.

One game isn't enough to show he's the second coming of Aaron Rodgers. It's not even enough to prove that he's the next Matt Schaub.

Brady starts vs Bills then during or after a series G-Man comes in unexpectedly to see how he'll respond on fly.

It's spelled Garoppolo.

They watched Brady all week in practice too in 2000 and 2001. Granted, by his own admission, he wasn't the same player in 2000 that he was in 2001, but my point remains.
