WR in the 2015 draft

I think the pats target eddie royal in the offseason.

That would be a nice addition, if the Pats could get him. Big upgrade over Amendola, could be reminiscent of Deion Branch. He has a cap hit of $5M this season, though his 1 year deal was only for $3.5M.

Well the Patriots are only allowed to draft a #1 receiver who has an immediate impact, otherwise BB is an idiot who can't draft

Yup, Nevermind that our two best receivers were both drafted by BB.

I'd be pleased with him, I think our WR group needs another veteran, especially with 'Dola likely cut, Edelman, LaFell, Royal, Dobson, and a rookie make for a very solid group

I realistically see us going for a cheap veteran WR in FA like Kenny Britt or Avant again, Sanatna Moss sparks my interest, probably only because he's one of my favorites, I'd love to add Colston though if cut, but money is tight

This seems illogical. I don't know if it's posturing by the Cards or no, but 23.6M is an astronomical number for an aging receiver. Best of luck to the Arizona Cardinals with that.

Who says there's no loyalty in sports!
Definitely gotta restrucutre, tough to seee him not in ARZ but if he's cit, him in NE would be a long time dream come true, money may be an issue however

So Jared Stanger is a Seahawks writer that I and (I think) Mayo follow. Yesterday, on twitter, he said that there was a WR in this draft with near identical athleticism to Sammy Watkins. I guessed Tre McBride because I'd just been watching him and apparently I was right. So now I definitely recommend McBride to you all. :)

To be fair, he was comparing the athleticism, not necessarily the skill set and whilst Watkins had a good combine, it wasn't spectacular. I still really like McBride though, especially his body control. Add that to Watkins' athleticism and you have a genuine prospect. Know the only question is is whether he has the smarts for our offence.

Edit: Brief scouting report on McBride from small school specialists NFL Draft Diamonds. Ignore the reference to him as a junior, this was from last year.

McBride is in a tough situation playing in the run dominated William & Mary offense. However, the team does call his number on end arounds and screen passes, so he does have opportunities to demonstrate his great athleticism. Additionally, his quarterbacks do not have the arm strength for The Tribe to use him as a field stretching flanker, which I believe is his most natural position. Be that as it may, McBride shows his physicality and football IQ off the ball in his great run blocking, as well as his ability to find open zones in opposing defenses. McBride is only a Junior, so he has this year, and potentially next year to work on the small stuff to get him ready for the next level. I see McBride as an NFL prospect today. He will test off the charts and has all of the qualities of successful NFL receivers, but his draft stock would greatly benefit from staying for his senior season to qualify for the senior events of the draft process, like his 2012 teammate and Dallas Cowboy 2012 4th round pick, B.W. Webb.

He'll probably get drafted right around where Watkins was as well.

Haven't seen McBride though

Excellent receiver but short of trading Brady, irrelevant to us unfortunately.

the year to draft a quality WR was 2014, unfortunately, it's in the books.

If the idea is bring a top tier receiver than we should target Vincent Jackson. It makes more sense than Andre Johnson or Fitz. The problem is that Tampa probably won't trade with us for a while to not look like fools again, they must have a BB picture in the wall with darts all over.

I insist we should go Jerry Jones (believe it or not) and keep improving the line, it's fundamental for Brady last year's to have a solid line protecting him. We already hit 2/3 in this last draft on day 3, that's already a great start.

Going after top tier WR in FA doesn't win Super Bowls

It is also economic suicide. For WR you go through draft, look at outcasts or go after veterans that didnt win anything around their point of decline.

I think Funchess from Michigan could easily play the AH role.

I would love to see BB take a flyer on Dorial Green-Beckham (provided he is not on the personal conduct policy no no list) 6'5" 4.5 40, that is Randy Moss like.
Randy ran a sub 4.3 on occasion. Excuse the but picking.
I do like the height though. Granted, I like the fact we seem to have realised that you can't teach height. I have no problem with pocket people playing in the slot, but outside it seems crazy not to be looking for someone longer (aj green, Megatron, Marshall, VJax, etc. They are all tall, physical receivers)

Have an elite, but ageing quarterback?

Solidify the line and create a strong run game to take the heat off him. This also then gives the same time trusted quarter back crutches to an assumed inexperienced, young successor when said cagey vet walks off into the sunset.

This seems to be what BB is starting to implement. It is also the complete opposite of what the Broncos seem to be doing.

You're right by saying you can't teach height, but Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham and Steve Smith are all 5'11 and shorter, but they are still great deep threats.

Height is nice to me, but a great receiver is a great receiver regardless of how tall they are.

Not sure why the big hype for Smelter. The Patriots need a ST/KR/PR guy. Tyler Lockett is the big name. Jamarcus Nelson is a guy I'm watching. We already have Jules, Lafell, Gronk and Wright. Amendola is signed as well. Slater is our gunner.

I just don't see Bill targeting a 6-3 225 guy who doesn't play ST's and has 56 career catches from Georgia Tech. A UDRFA flyer, I don't even see that.

He may or he may not but I like him a lot which is why I recommended him to the forum. I'm only focusing on prospects I like and i really like Smelter.
