I suspect several will get rests on Sun.

Edelman needs 20 some odd yards to get 1000. I wonder if he plays a few possessions to shake the rust and get that accolade, or if his concussion was bad enough to warrant another inactive.

On a side note, and this might be a little paranoia coming through, does anyone think Edelman might have multiple concussions this season making this concussion issue for him a bit more serious than one isolated incident? I feel like everytime he gets the rock, defenders go right for his head.

He catches a lot of short stuff, much of it over the middle which makes him vulnerable like Welker. It wouldn't surprise me if he has been dinged multiple times but last week was the first time it was officially acknowledged. If he suits up Sunday I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Concussion protocol is out of the team's hands now. If Julian was practicing last week it isn't that serious, though I suspect that, along with the thigh injury, it will warrant another week off.

Guys never seem to heal; just added.

It's like Brady when he was on the list for half his career.

That must have been one helluva padded practice they had Tuesday...

I bet this injury list changes little for as long as they play this season, I think guys are dinged up and BB will list every single hangnail he can.

Good thing we have a bye this week.

Thank god Gronk isn't on that list.

Don't like browners injury at all

doesn't this just mean they aren't playing this week? NE could get in trouble if 15 guys just didn't play sunday, no?

Miguel's article linked in another thread suggests Edelman has a variety of ways to hit a $500K incentive. A couple involve him playing successfully vs. the Bills. But if the Patriots win the game, that gets it done for him too.

Meanwhile, I noticed that both Aiken and Ninkovich were limited. What's more, I'd guess that the third long-snapper is Connolly, and he was limited too. I wonder whether Steve Belichick is snapping in practice this week. :)

No, it doesn't suggest that they aren't playing at all--only that these are the players who took part in a limited participation in practice during Christmas Eve's first padded practice in 6 weeks. Many here feel as though Belichick will play some stars for a quarter or half on Sunday, just so they don't appear rusty when they return from the bye in 2.5 weeks for the divisional round playoff game. They also would like to work on some of the offensive issues that plagued them in the past game or two, so they may treat Sunday's game like a glorified scrimmage.

As for your second question--the team would not face any sanctions for who they chose to rest on Sunday. As long as they could manage to trot out 11 players on each side of the ball, they could treat it the same as a bye week if they wanted to. Actually, if you remember, the Colts had a chance to reach the 16-0 mark in 2009 only 2 yrs after we had done it, and they chose to rest the majority of their star/role players in weeks 16 AND 17. They could realistically choose the least important 22 players (+ another 10-12 subs) and rest the best 20 players at the top of the roster. History suggests that they probably won't, however.

It was actually on Xmas eve, for the first time since the middle of November.

You've gotta love Bill Belichick!!! No easy days/holidays around here!

Kraft can also opt to give them their incentive? I think they did this on a couple occasions (in the past) when players were very close to reaching their goal.

Could require a contract rewrite, but they'd be happy to go through that hassle. I think that's what they did with Vollmer. He was at risk of not meeting his playing time incentives because of the Cannon shuffle, so they sweetened his deal a little.

And this is in a week going up against a team that is eliminated, has zero to lose, and has been owned by this team for the last decade. People who think the most important starters should play the whole game are out of their minds. At least Gronk and Revis aren't on that list.

Geeze, now the Jones Gray kid blows off another entire practice
Dog Faker!!!
