New England Patriots CAP-sized thoughts - End of 2014 Regular Season Edition

Miguel Benzan

Some mish-mash thoughts about the New England Patriots salary cap as the 2014 regular season ends.

I have a few questions/comments.

1) Is my understanding correct that we are about $2M over the cap, using the top 51 that will be used when the season starts: $147m - $142M - $3M not in the top 51?

2) I presume that does NOT include the many incentives that can be reached this weekend or in the playoffs. Are some included and some not? For example, the roster incentives seem pretty clearly earned.

3) We have already added Cannon and Slater.

CONCLUSION
Kraft (and you, of course) were certainly right in explaining the reasons for the large amount of extra cap space that we carried this year. The incentives were very large indeed. This was certainly NOT a normal year in that regard. It's all gone without some incentives yet to come (even if without Cannon and Slater).

Man, I want hours of my life back putting up with the idiots that used this year as proof of how cheap the Patriots are.

Where's Patrodonkus?

My $147 million total includes most incentives. Does not include Edelman's 500K incentives. As of now I have the Patriots $5.7 million over the projected league cap of $142 million, $5.2 million over my projection for the Patriots 2015 adjusted cap number of $142.5 million.

I agree with all of the major points. Any specific questions?
