I Ask You.....Is P. Manning Done?

I think Peyton play has to do with a combination of a noodle arm and an injury the Donkeys are trying to hide. Combine that with the fact, JT and Welker aren't on the same level they were last year, and their big FA pickups on the other side of the ball like Ware and Talib, like Manning are fading as the season goes. Not to mention they have maybe the worst LB group in the league.

It was a team that looked great on paper to start the season, but as the season went you can see its flaws. Its not a great team, and there only hope is to get on that deer antler spray the Ravens were on back in 2012 to win anything. If not, this team is going one and done. Just think if the Donkeys lose Sunday and Cincy wins, Donkeys play next week, while Cincy gets the bye...
To be fair to him, Talib hasn't been fading. He got the game the other started with a pick six.

As of late he looks like he is not into it....it is fun when you have protection and can stand there and score points, quite another when you are feeling heat series after series. They better fix this O-line soon or they got no shot. Not burying them right yet like people were burying us...they do have some problems they need to fix before the post season...and they better not take the raiders too lightly next week either...

he is getting close..........i'll say one more year

but brady will play forever!!!!! #BooHooBradyCrew

Playing poorly because of injury is not an overall decline, which is obviously what's being discussed in this thread.

You have a different meaning for the word;
decline - a gradual deterioration of the physical powers, as in later life or in disease.
a failing or gradual loss, as in strength, character, power, or value;deterioration:
I'll use it in a sentence for you and all of those you feel you are speaking for;
After his 4th INT (that could have been 6+) you could see that PMoney has gone into a decline.

A Broncos fan actually said this:

You're probably right but you Denver fans are spoiled. This Manning is better than the one I watched in Indy for many years. Sure his arm is worse but he doesn't freak out like he used to. Defensive schemes don't confuse him at all now.

Broncos Manning is better then Indy Manning? huhuhuhhuhuuuuu

I don't have a different meaning. I spelled out my position from the beginning. You don't seem to have bothered reading the thread.

Yeah what the hell. Manning from 03-09 was an absolute problem child who could threaten every part of the field. 12-14 is obviously good but its a bit easier to defend crossing routes, slants, and outs when he can't do deep anymore.

It's called old age. It catches everyone eventually.

It's really not an either/or. He can be both old and injured. My guess would be that he is injured; the early/late season split is too dramatic for me to believe that it's purely arm fatigue.

Now, is he old/battered enough that it's simply impossible for him to make it through a full season without these kinds of injuries anymore? Maybe, it's definitely a real possibility. But since this is the first time this has happened (this being a decline so dramatic that by the end of the season he's no longer a top 5 QB), I think it's a bit premature to be writing the guy's NFL obituary.

All we can really say at this point is that his arm looks shot right now, and we'll have a better idea next year whether that's a permanent state.

It's funny how everyone here is clammoring and praying for an epic Peyton self-destruction. Questions swirling about his demise, retirement articles on NFL, bad game in Cincy.

He's supposed to be throwing 4 TD's a game and getting all the press. I love to hate him as a front-runner. Now he's becoming an underdog. Not liking this mojo.

It isn't based on one game in Cinci. If you haven't been following, it's the entire second half of the season. 12 interceptions in the second half after 3 in the first.

there TE got hurt sanders has been cold 4 of the last 6 on the road and all six games vs good to great DL's look at the pats as well it gets a lot harder to throw the ball this time of year

I'm well aware. Everyone here is cheering for his ultimate demise. Bad stretch of games, doesn't look right, 38 years old, neck surgeries, lost in SB last year. Everyone called it.

He's finished. All done. Has been. Can't do it anymore. Game has passed him by. Nothing left. Noodle arm.

I don't like this story. This was Tom at the beginning of the year. I hate Peyton as much as any NE fan, but discounting him as a nobody is a fools errand.

I smell dangerous.

The press is saying Mannings arm is toast but the other night he had some dam good throws, some downfield that were very good throws. Some throws were terrible, same for Brady on Sunday. I can see he might have an injury because that right leg got all crazy weird on that pick six with no pressure and he looks like he is having some trouble planting that back foot. But generally I still think he throws a good ball.

I look at it like this, when Brady's O line can't protect him he looks like crap also.

I think both if them suffer from some old guy syndrome lol

Watch next week or the first game in the playoffs manning looks like the best QB ever.

Done, no. Chad Pennington, yes. Teams are going to learn they don't have to respect him and will play tight underneath and his numbers and effectiveness will continue to decline. Like Pennington that doesn't mean he can't be effective or beat you but even with all of those weapons he has he'll never be the same.

Peyton Manning is still accurate many times, but his throws with heat are few and far between. Brady still throws as hard with the same velocity, for the most part, as he ever has. They've never been similar throwers at all, in my opinion, other than both are very good.

Facts
1. Peyton can still put the ball on a dime, including 45 yarders
2. Peyton can still read defenses
3. Peyton can still score a ton of points or put his team in position to score points
4. He is older
5. His arm strength is not the same
6. It's getting colder

Opinion
1. He's playing injured. Just from his dropback and the instability in his footing, I'm incline to believe that his thigh problem is causing him a lot of issues. Part of throwing a great ball in also setting up your lower body right, planting your feet . I think there's obviously something wrong.

2. His age means that it's even harder for Peyton to get through the season especially when he's had past injury problems.

3. Peyton has traditionally not played well in cold whether, so it's all these factors combined. Cold + injury + age.

4. His players are also injured. The names look good on paper, but in reality, it's super tough to compete when you're hurt.

5. Can he still do it? Sure, if football was played on the mlb schedule and there are only 10 games. I don't think he can take a lot more punishment and this goes for any QB going up there in age. So it's definitely a priority to sort out the pats' O line next draft and protect brady.

6. It seems to me that fans don't understand how tough it is to play in the NFL, especifically for a QB. They take hits and often times, they're not in position to brace themselves as they're either trying to make a throw or it's coming from the blind side. Have you ever been rear ended? I was at a stop and the car behind me was only going 20mph and I had some discomfort for a few days. QBs have it way worse. These guys are tough, no question about it.

Om, no.
We've seen first hand what losing a difference making TE can do to a QB. Am I the only person seeing this roughly comes when Julius Thomas is hurt?

If next year Thomas is back and then Manning has the same issues, then I'll say he is done.

If you think Julius Thomas is the reason Manning was tossing ducks all over the place on Monday, I don't know what to tell you. Julius Thomas sure wasn't the reason for the lame toss to D. Thomas for the second pick 6. Now...

If it turns out that we're looking at legit injury to Manning, plus that line playing rather poorly PLUS the J. Thomas injury, that would make much more sense.

It must be smell because, you definitely aren't using eyesight. Literally everyone can see that Mannings arm strength is shot And his passes are wobbling all over the place. People aren't making that up they have been seeing it all season, and it has gotten even worse recently. You can pretend it's just Manning hate all you want but but the time the season is over out will become the biggest story heading into the off-season.
