No I just can't click on a link to Skip Bayless who represents whats so wrong with ESPN.

Skip is awesome.

He's the closest thing to a PatsFans poster on TV (Loves the Pats, realizes Manning is a choker when it counts, believes Eli manning won 2 SBs due to baffling luck in spite of his own flaws, etc.)

Bills got a big break with the penalty and stoppage of the clock

Been seeing this thread pop up from time to time. And - honestly - I didn't see it. Figured, at start, that getting to 12-4 after that gauntlet of games was impossible. Later, as they rolled, I figured 13-3 was more likely.

All of a sudden, Manning lays an egg. And 12-4 is looking for plausible than ever. The NFL is a crazy crazy place.

I'm not so sure. I can't see the Pats totally laying an egg at home to a division rival. I think they win, but it won't be pretty, or even all that entertaining for most.

Does anyone recall their perspective back in 2003 after the pats lost to the Redskins and were 2-2?

I sure do. I admit that I thought they were staring 9-7 in the face again.

Hell I didn't think they were for real until they beat Indy in the goal line stand game.

For me, it was the Miami game. The Dolphins were the team to beat. In a close game, with a blocked FG by Seymour, and a long bomb to win the game, the Pats won and proved something to me.

That was a classic. Didn't both Mcginist and Harrison get "injured" on third down. Then healthy, on fourth for the sack.

I remember Willie Dog Faking it ;)

People rip Skip and First Take in general for pandering to the masses with outrageously extreme opinions, but as extreme opinions go Skip's are definitely more accurate than most. He's the TV equivalent of a boisterous fan with reliable gut instincts. Also he's really fun to watch IMO

Say what you want about Skip (I generally like him more than the average ESPN knucklehead - but I consider Skip a knucklehead too), however, in the prediction he got right was the reasoning "The offensive line won't keep offending fans". The OL did in fact turn it around, as he predicted, and was a major reason why his W/L prediction was spot on.

Kontra has it right in that Skip was as much saying 'In Bill We Trust' as anything. However, given Bill's track record, basing a prediction on believing Bill would right the ship is not just blowhard rantings, it's sound thinking. With that said, the schedule we were looking at after the KC debacle did make 12-4 seem like a high mountain to climb (and finishing 12-4 is a hard thing to begin with).

I don't think its that bold to have predicted the Pats to rebound (as they always seem to do) and finish with a record around 11-5/12-4 with a first round bye despite a difficult schedule.

But good on Skip for being one of the guys in the media that stuck with the Pats. And his prediction looks near perfect.

I admit that I do thoroughly enjoy the weekly FT segments on the Patriots wins and seeing Skip's enthusiasm for it.

I enjoy first take in general. Not for their knowledge but for their interactions between each other. Stephen A. Smith losing that Eagles/Dallas bet to Skip was hilarious. I somehow feel that Stephen played a role in the benching of Cutler and made the blind homer fans of the Bears see what everyone else sees for once.

I like the show. I like media that is consistent, skip is a pats homer, Marshall, etal are pats haters. I am fine with them all. The ones I dislike are those that blow with the wind, or whatever the Telepromptor tells them.
