Resting Players

For anyone worried about Seattle eventually will get as close a view of them this weekend. Buffalo has been terrorizing offenses this year, and if they had a half-decent qb, they could be competing for a playoff spot.

With that said, that kind of competition is a double edged sword. You want your offense to get reps against a great D, but the risk of injury can increase because of it as well, especially for a qb under duress.

I say play the game as usual, if for no other reason than to treat it as great training ground for what we can eventually come up against in the playoffs.

Vegas seems to think so.

The line from the Patriots being -10.5 favorites to -5 favorites today.

Frankly, the way the offense has been playing lately, I'm not sure Brady should have much say in the matter. At least they solved the inconsistency of playing 30 minutes of bad football every week. Against the Jets, they stunk for 60 minutes.

I would hand Brady a clipboard for the Bills game. He must be out of gas. Maybe a break would help.

They were without Connolly Edelman and Blount and against a team playing their super bowl. Hold your horses there garoppolo lover

Gronk said he expects to play the entire game. So they could very well...everyone..play the entire game. I will be nervous the entire game!

I really, really hope Belichick sits him.

I do as well. No need for him or Edelman as well know he isn't 100% to be out there. Ya gronk is clearly 100%. But he will be in game shape for the div round whether you rest him or not.

He he expects to play entire game..whatever that means...

I expect Brady to play but not entire game. Revis is revis and knows what to do...no need for him IMO But knowing BB...i expect to see gronk revis and co out there for most of the game...or till mid 3rd

Gronk expects to play the whole game until he is told otherwise, and is told that he can comment on this fact to the press.

Prior bad experiences coupled with a normal sense of caution has been shown to factor about this much in BB's thinking and approach to a game like this...0%

Isn't that because they think the Patriots might sit some players in the 2nd half or 4th quarter?

I can't think of a single thing to be gained from playing Tom Brady this week. It's ludicrous to suggest that he needs the reps. He has so much experience in this system that reps aren't going to make him the slightest bit more prepared going into the playoffs. Give the guy a mental and physical rest.

The game is meaningless. It's the perfect time to give the QB of the future a start and a full 60 minutes. He does need the reps.

He gets that rest next week as the wild card games get played. Your rationale has been broached to BB in the past and always dismissed with a smirk.

I say play everyone except Gronk, Revis and maybe Browner.

Aside from the obvious, the guy who really needs a break is Nink. No matter what, I want him to get at least 30% of the snaps off.

SIT GRONK THE **** DOWN! HE DOES NOT NEED THE REPS!

I remember it well. Welker got carried off the field with a torn ACL in a game that was just as meaningless as this one. At least he got the reps in, though.

Wilfork and Edelman will earn serious incentive money by playing.

Are there others?

Will this influence the team?

I hope not. It sets a dangerous precedent, one that player agents should be all over.

Edelman needs 8 rec to get 100 and 28 yards for 1000 I think he will play Lafell needs 117 for 1000 and Brady need 2 TD's to hit 35 I see them all playing at lest the first half

I'm torn on this issue. On the one hand you are essentially punishing them for quality play that got them to this point. On the other hand this possibility of sitting in a meaningless game is something that should be addressed at the formation of the contract (unless this is something that has been bargained out of by the NFLPA and the league).
