Patriots Should Start Garoppolo Next Sunday

I think the GB and SD's defenses are decent to good.

DVOA heading into this past week for GB was basically 0% and a ranking of 17th. SD was worse a 4.4% and 23rd ranking.

To put that into perspective, GB was essentially equal to Cincy and Indy was better than all of them.

Part of me thinks that they are a little mentally fatigued and have been taking EVERYONES best punch.

This could very well be the case. Let's hope the bye reignites the fire we saw in the middle of the season.

Sit:
Brady (Garoppolo)
Vereen (White)
Solder (Fleming)
Connolly (Kline)
Volmer (Cannon)
Blount (Gray)
Wendell (Devey)
Edelman (Amendola)
Gronkowski (Maneri)

Wilfork (Branch)
Ninkovitch (Moore)
Hightower (Ayers)
Collins (Casillas)
Revis (Butler)
Arrington (Ryan)
McCourty (Ebner)

Use starters if needed.
Heal up and rest.

So, you are proposing to play Fleming at a position he's not played at by putting him at LT. Are you trying to get Garappolo killed?

Ebner is not a Free Safety. He's a strong safety/ coverage LB at best. He doesn't have the speed to make up ground in the passing game.

People are not thinking clearly.
If Edelman doesn't play this week, he won't have been in a game for nearly a month. The first drop he has, people will start complaining.

Players who don't play this week will have not had a game for 20 days.

I expect starters to play half to 3/4 of the game. Guys who are close to incentives, I expect they'll get plenty of snaps.

But all this talk of sitting out a bunch of players (more than 8 from some people) and leaving the Pats with a short roster just doesn't make sense.

Edelman plays. He has a $500,000 NLTBE incentive riding on this game (if I read Miquel correctly). If we win game 16 or get to the Super Bowl then he would get his incentive should he not play. Otherwise he needs around 70 yards.

I don't want to "back into the playoffs". Anyway, BB plays his guys in game 16.

Interesting. DVOA aside I view Indy's D as pretty sucky and Cinci's as decent.

Nope. Brady should at least play the first half. We don't want the offense to go into the playoffs sputtering. I would like to see the healthy players play to the half.

If Edelman, Arrington and those guys are still banged up, rest them.

I wouldn't have an issue with Edelman playing for a little bit. If Brady really wants to get out there, let him play too. But I absolutely would not let Gronk go out there. I'd have to think long and hard about whether or not I would want Revis out there too.

Speaking of starting qbs, bills are going with Orton over manuel per mike today on twitter.

Guess they're completely done with EJ.

Everyone who ever watched Manuel at FSU was pissing their pants with laughter when Buffalo took him in the first round. I'm surprised (and a bit disappointed) that they realized he is total garbage this fast.

In that case, we should have sat the offense three weeks ago. They've done a whole lot of sputterin' in the last three games....

If I were Belichick, I'd spend 60 minutes against the Bills polishing up that 6 OL heavy package running the ball, because they are going to need it in the playoffs.

Personally, I would sit Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Connolly, Vereen and Blount on offense. The entire Oline (minus Connolly) needs to play for the entire game, with some rotational substitutions.

On defense, I would sit Big Vince, Chandler Jones, Ninko, Hightower, Revis and McCourty. The rest of the defense should play at least a half.

My rationale is to give the older players rest and let anyone with an injury heal up. The resting players are all established professionals that can overcome a prolonged (3 week) break. I am not suggesting this is what will happen, just what I would do. So basically there is no real chance BB would do the same :)

Isn't anyone concerned that the offense hasn't been in sync the last two weeks and Brady could use some game time to try and get that going rather than having two weeks off

That is assuming Brady is not hurt.

I don't mean injured: I mean hurt.

Like his year ago ballooned non-throwing hand. He could, and last year would, play through it.

Not saying that is the case. I'd trust BB to make that observation. He has access to more/better information than me (or Felger) and I am pretty sure he gets paid to do that. :)

They will play most starters well into 3rd IMO. Including Brady. I hope not Gronk or Revis but knowing BB and his ways..they will be out there..

You don't seem to understand the meaning of the phrase "back into the playoffs".

They've been sputtering a bit recently, but QB isn't a contributor to that. I think they can fix things without Brady under center.

Personally I don't want anyone sat that doesn't have something that will be aided by an extra week off.

I predict the half and out.
