I Ask You.....Is P. Manning Done?

Great stats, coming up small in big games. Looks like Manning is the same as he's always been.

He has a bad thigh injury and it showed ...

I just read an interesting factoid. Since joining the Broncos, Manning has only had a QB rating below 90 9 times in 47 games. 5 of those came in the last 8 games.

Could you take Mankins and put him where the sun doesn't shine? It's gotten very, very, VERY old.

I'm a big fan of Mankins and loved him as a Patriot but even I understood why they made that deal and supported it, and in retrospect it was cav heist by the Patriots. Great move by Belichick.

As for Patradomous and all those who cried like little girls in September they have been proven wrong as usual and have no credibility whatsoever when it comes to commenting on this team.

I don't think he's done. I do think his arm strength has diminished considerably, especially outside the hashes. As he showed last night, he is still capable of very accurate throws on occasion, even deep ones especially down the middle. On the downside, I think he's always been prone to shaken confidence in clutch situations particularly when playoff considerations are involved. I think he knows his physical limitations are there and that knowledge makes his confidence even shakier when the stakes are high. I think he's still very good, particularly when he has a comfortable lead and things are going well. When the going gets tough, however, I wouldn't want him QBing my team. As always, just my opinion since the OP posed the question.

Something seems wrong with Peyton. I don't think he is 100% healthy and I suspect the Broncos are concealing an injury.

He's got a thigh injury. But the real reason for his struggles is julius thomas and wes welker are not playing to their 2013 levels. Manning is good, but you need to baby him by surrounding him with talent like 3 or 4 healthy and good receivers.

Manning looks like his body is beginning to finally feel the effects of all of those hits he's taken over the course of his career and is beginning to break down. I don't think he's fully done yet. He's still capable of some pretty good throws (albeit throws that have a lot of air under them), but I think the end is very near.

I agree that he can still beat you but watching him throw is unlike anything I have seen in the NFL, and agree with the poster who compared it to Pennington. If they were simply showing his throws anonymously people would say his arm is to weak to play in the NFL.
I felt it was weak last season as well but this year it has been demonstrably weaker and has gotten even weaker as the season has gone on. Unless something changes significantly this offseason I think he has one year left at the most----if that?

Done, no. Chad Pennington, yes. Teams are going to learn they don't have to respect him and will play tight underneath and his numbers and effectiveness will continue to decline. Like Pennington that doesn't mean he can't be effective or beat you but even with all of those weapons he has he'll never be the same.

Would be interesting to see if elway cuts him

I'm not even sure about that. If he gets destroyed in the playoffs while his throws flutter through the breeze and into the hands of defenders, he could retire as early as this offseason. Then again, Manning is a stats whore and another NFL season would mean more records in his name, as embarrassing as it may be for him in late November-January.

One could imagine him trying to stick it out for two more years even in an effort to make it to 600 TD passes. of course, that would be equally likely to get him to 300 interceptions.

I agree that's what he should do but think he will be unwilling to go out on those terms and will busy his as to try and come back next season. It will be v really interesting to see what Elway thinks about Mannings arm and what his future holds.

Forehead gives more ducks flight than the Robertson family, and has now up'ed his game to choking in prime time to Andy Dalton during the crunch of the regular season.

He's more done than the steak I burned last night whilst distracted by his awesome play.

If Peyton totally beclowns himself in January, either one & done or playing badly in 2 games, but losing the 2nd, I think Elway has to re-think Manning's impact on the franchise. If Peyton appears totally fried as a playoff level QB, it would be best to spend the cap re-signing the young talent while taking a year or two to find another FA QB.

All said, we read way too much into our last look at any player or team. Manning may have one big playoff game left in him after recuperating over the bye week. I think he does.

No one could argue that he is not still a very productive and dangerous QB, he clearly is and his numbers reflect that. However the difference between Manning and the other top QBs is that his arm strength has clearly diminished significantly and teams realize it and are tapering their defensive strategies to exploit it. The Broncos had better pray for good weather because the one condition he absolutely cannot deal with is the wind, and if they get windy conditions they are done imo, unless they get the Colts, who they could run on all day.

Has he ever been all that good in the elements? That in my opinion is why Brady will always be better.

I don't see what I saw last night as markedly different than what he did against (or for) the Saints in the Super Bowl. I would agree he has lost a step, but he is far from done. Right now he appears to be damaged, so let's see how much he recovers after the bye week (and the Donkeys better make sure there is in fact a bye week).

I think he's playing hurt. If he isn't 100% by next September, then sure, he's probably done.

If done is most TDs in the NFL and 4th most in yardage with a 102 rating, then yes he is done. It was the 5th time in his career he has thrown a 4 pick game.

.
Actually 6th if you count playoffs
2001 v SF, 2007 v SD (6 int), 2010 vs SD, 2010 v Dal, 2014 v Cinn, and 2004 playoffs v NE.
Brady also has thrown 4 int in a game six times but only once in the last 8 yrs (2011 Buf, 2001 Den, 2003 Buf, 2004 Miami, 2005 KC, 2006 Ind)

It's a really interesting situation IMO. The only QB I have ever seen in the NFL with an arm this weak was Pennington and he was done when his arm was that bad, yet Manning has still put up very good numbers, however the last six weeks he has looked so bad that you have to really wonder if he can get it done. It is going to be really interesting to see how this all plays out?

I never read your posts anymore because I just stop and stare at the .GIF for like 10 loops then move onto the next post. What a beautiful hit.
