Miguel keeps reminding us of Vollmer's cost. Could this be the year that Vollmer is cut, with Cannon taking his place? Belichick is paying Cannon over $4M for 2015.

If Vollmer is not playing LT, the LT situation is an independent issue. Either we'll keep Solder for one-year, extend him, or replace him. After all, we now have the legal tampering week to find out the cost of a free agent LT.

In almost any case, this is the year to draft an OT and a LG, whether we re-sign Connolly or not.

I'm not sure how we know what Cannon will be paid, did the contract details (for real) come out?
We have Solder, Vollmer, Cannon and Fleming now, so unless Solder is being jettisoned I wouldn't expect a T to be drafted early. Drafting one in rounds 4-7 is always a good idea, regardless of need.

You really need to do a better job of checking your facts.

Belichick is not paying Cannon over $4M for 2015. Cannon's Salary is just $1.2M. His total cap number is just 2.616M. $1.55M Cash.

With 4.19M in guaranteed money for 2015, the likelihood of Vollmer being gone is slim to none.

I'd move Vollmer to LT and cut Solder. Vollmer is a better player.

There is usually room on a roster for 2 big OL contracts. ($8+MM) With BB in the process of rebuilding the interior OL, its unlikely we'll see a big contract there for several years. For the next few years we can afford 2 big contracts with Solder and Volmer if BB thinks their worth it.

You saw how badly Cannon sucked on Sunday, right? Sure that was at LT. But at RT he's not remotely good either. If Cannon is our future at RT we are in a world of hurt.

Actually it's Brady that would be in a world of hurt. :(

Personally I think Vollmer's pretty good. Maybe not worth big future cap #s. But I sure wouldn't cut him if Plan B is Cannon.

I just don't see them paying Solder $7m next year. His play has been way to uneven this year to warrant that kind of financial commitment by the team.

Cannon was better than Solder.

Miguel's sheet shows 6m new cash 2.1 m in prorated signing bonusb. Not sure how much of that 6m is guaranteed probably none.

That's a lot for a right tackle and it's the first year his cap is that high. He could be on the chopping block.

That's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

No, but when you're talking down a backup who outplayed the starter, you're probably being overly harsh on the backup. That's not always going to be the case, but it's a general rule.

Vollmer has a 250K Pro Bowl bonus. If he gets selected tonight, his 2015 cap number will go up by $250K since the incentive would then be LTBE (Likely to be Earned) for 2015.

What the hell is wrong with Sea Bass? We've got the best offense in the league. With a crappy OL, un-athletic receivers and journeymen rb's. We nitpick this roster like 3-13 team. Many have Vollmer in the Pro Bowl.

When I hear of complaints about Vollmer all I do is think back to names such as Klemm, Lane, Kaczur, Randall and Ashworth and all is well again.

I'd rather see Vollmer on the roster next year than Solder. Solder has been inconsistent - whereas Vollmer, as long as he's healthy, is pretty rock solid. Solder @ $7 million next year is a luxury we may, or may not, be able to afford.

Cannon has not looked good in his time this year, but the coaching staff must have faith in him for BB to reward him with an extension. He's been asked to jump into a lot of different positions, that isn't easy. He's getting paid like they think he can start.

If the OG spots are improved upon Solder and Vollmer will be back to playing as top level OT's.

That's a lot for a RT? REALLY? A 3.1M average over the next 2 years?
You and I clearly have different ideas about what is ALOT.

Vollmer has 4.2M guaranteed regardless of whether he's on the team.
Cannon just got his extension. He's not going anywhere.

Please explain the logic to your thinking that the Pats will cut one of them.. Because it's got to be something no one else is seeing..
