I believe in the past when we had the #1 seed, we have played both Saturday night and the early game Sunday.

Playing Saturday would give our opponent a short week with travel time.
Anybody have a guess, when we play?

No idea.

I think it's entirely up to the NFL offices (with possibly a little nudge from the networks), and their opinion on what matchup(s) will bring in the best audience.

If anyone call look at the past and notice some patterns, please share it with us.

Last year we played Saturday night vs Colts. I know the Saturday night game used to go back and forth yearly between the AFC and NFC, but not sure if that's still the case.

I think it will depend on how the wildcard games are scheduled and specifically when the 4th seed is playing. If the 4th seed plays Sunday, I would expect the game in Foxboro to be the following Sunday.
That's just a guess on my part but the rational being that it would be a further disadvantage if the 4th seed had a short week to prepare.
Of course, there is no guarantee that 2 wildcard upsets won't occur and then a short week for one team is unavoidable.

As for the conference championships, they usually rotate each conference's time from one year to the next so this year, the AFC would be the late game (6:00 EST) and NFC at 3:00 EST. Given that Seattle is currently the number one seed, I think this early time for them should they host it will still work.

EPSN is broadcasting one of the wildcard games this year so that could affect things.

I hope it's Sunday cause I work Saturdays and I'm not trying to take off work this early in the year

Does anyone remember when they scheduled them last year? It was shortly after week 17 concluded, no?

Still do. NFC turn for Sat. Night. Prob Dallas at GB. I think Denver gets 4p Sat. We get 1p Sunday with Seattle at 4p

I really really hope it's Saturday for the Pats, preferably in the afternoon. That way, I know for whom
to root for the rest of the weekend and with a win the Pats receive an extra day of rest.

You can also get aggressively drunk if they lose and extremely drunk in a celebratory fashion if they win and not have to worry about dealing with a hunover Monday morning.

Is this the first time ESPN has shown wildcard games? I don't remember if they did it in the past.

Yes, I believe the divisional round schedule is revealed shortly after the week 17 games are complete.

As far as when we'll play our divisional round game, my guess is Sunday 4 PM. As was pointed out, the Sat night game is usually rotated year to year and this year it seems to be NFC's turn. I could be wrong, but I think usually if the NFC gets that primetime game Saturday, they will get the early game Sunday. Again I could be wrong but Sunday 4 is my guess.

I want a damn daylight playoff game for a change.

Why is it the worst case scenario playing Sunday game at 4pm?

Its the latest game and they'd be getting the least amount of rest for a potential AFC title game. If he doesn't mean that then I have no idea.

No, you're right: that's exactly what I meant.
