Say what you want but Rex Ryan is one hell of a defensive football coach
I don't agree.
He's competent at best. What he has going for him is that he has just the right personnel to match up against our achilles heel offense, he's bright enough to realize it and singularly motivated against BB.
His below par DBs are just good enough to match up against our WRs for brief periods of time. It only needs to be brief because he like the Giants & a few other teams has a 4 man solid pass rushing DL capable of both up the middle quick pressure and edge rushing. Throw in a few well considered blitzes taking advantage of the well known fact that the deep ball is pretty much off the table and the action will be in the short middle and you have a winning formula if you have the players.
Aside, I did notice that Gronk tended to be well covered. Looked slow for him and was most often well covered.
